Great way to put it, ADC! His awareness is something I can't remember seeing in someone with such little experience.

Bulldogs supporters probably think the same when they see Macca in our box.

Those calling for Kennedy to come in will be disappointed. He was average on Saturday at Geelong. There's absolutely no way he replaces JKH or ANB. Kent may come in, but I wasn't impressed with his VFL game. Yes, he was in the best, but it wasn't a dominant performance. I would imagine the only change would be Hogan coming in. At whose expense? Depends on what KPIs the likes of JKH and Oscar have. One thing I don't understand is if Stretch was dropped, why have him as carryover emergency. He missed a chance to go back to Casey and work on his issues, so in theory, it should be impossible to pick him this week.

That handball to set up Tom Mc''s goal. Just mesmerising ?

There is a massive gulf between Mitchell and Trengove at the same stage of their careers. Not necessarily through Jack's fault - injury crippled him for 2 years. The issue for Jack is that the style of play that our coach wants us to play is something that will highlight Jack's weaknesses. Compare that to Hawthorn's possession-based, keepings off-style of play, which is Mitchell's great strength, and more than covers his shortcomings (which are, well, being short, as well as not quick). It displays a lack of footy IQ if you try and compare the two.

Always hard, the AFL listed players generally always stand above the VFL listed players. That said, I thought Maynard was better than Kent. My issue with Kent today was more about attitude than anything else. Maybe I just have higher expectations of blokes that should be in the 1's. In answer to your question though, I didn't think we were very good today. We looked slow compared to Geelong. It was actually almost a carbon copy of our seniors. Didn't look quick, overpossessed a lot, but hung in there for the whole game. Just lacking that bit of class, which is probably what I would expect Kent to bring at this level.

Was not sure who he was, so didn't really look for him until the last quarter. Don't think he was great, but by the time I started to notice him, the Geelong big guys were killing us. In short, I didn't see an AFL standard ruckman in hm at this stage. Thought he got pushed around pretty easy in the last quarter, but he could've been knackered too! Sorry I can't help much more with King.

Hate to say it, but he's a plodder. Accumulates possession, but isn't very damaging. I have always been a big JT fan, and would love to see him play seniors again. Based on today, it would be a sympathy selection more than anything. Only my view though and that's based on it being the first game of Casey that I have ever seen live, so grain of salt stuff!

Just looked, 48 was Maynard. Think he might sneak a senior spot before the season ends. Was good to see Goodwin, Rawlings, Ben Matthews, AND Josh Mahoney all in attendance. Would be nice if Josh didn't treat everyone like a journalist though. Also, David Rodan is a very technically correct goal umpire.

Geelong were far too big for Casey (for obvious reasons). Other than that, I have minimal that I can contribute, mainly because I had no idea who most players were. But, I can contribute this (for the little that it's worth); - Trengove will struggle to play another senior game. Love Jack, but just think the game has gone past him. - Ben Ken got reported I think. Didn't see it as it was on the other side of the ground, but saw umpire taking numbers. He played ok apart from that, but not dominant. - Hulett is a long way off. - Wagner was very good. 2 more weeks at Casey and he will be ready for a call up. Big boy. - Kent's attitude is terrible. He wasn't great, laid some good tackles, but for a guy that should be in the 1s, he didn't play or act like it. - Harmes wasn't brilliant. - Mitch White's best is very good, just needs to bridge the gap between his best and worst. - Not sure who number 48 is/was, but thought he showed a bit. Other than that, I totally admire regular Casey contributors like KC, bloody tough gig being able to report on individual players.

Interestingly, Hannan is named as a starting 18 for the MFC, and is also listed as starting 18 for Casey.

Did we get the dud brother in this case, or was it Richmond?

Thanks Jim. Couldn't tell you the last time I went to a VFL game where I paid to get in! I used to go to North Ballarat games and just jump the fence to get in!

Am hoping to get along for the match. Can anyone tell me if we can use our membership tickets to get in? If not, what's a ticket worth, and do kids get in free? Thanks in advance.

In: Pedersen, Lewis, Bugg, Keilty Out: Spencer (inj), Smith (inj), Petracca (inj) Hogan - If Petracca isn't injured, then Bugg doesn't come in - Keilty to play relief ruck for a start, leaving Watts as the stay-at-home forward

Vale Tony Hogan - Father of our Jesse
The Chazz replied to Lucifers Hero's topic in Melbourne Demons
I was 31, Gorg. Was 15 months after I was married, and 10 months before my wife gave birth to our first child. You can imagine the roller coaster of emotions in that 2 year period! Jesse will do what Jesse thinks is right. None of us are to judge how he handles this. I look forward to welcoming him back to the club at some stage in the future. While we should never use grief as a motivator, I hope this does give the boys a little bit more to play for this weekend. -
It's an interesting one. Yes, injuries are killing us, especially to key personnel, but what is killing us is more about when they are happening during the game, mores than who it is to. What does that mean? Sure, we have lost our top 2 rucks, but we've lost both of these during the game in the 2nd quarter of that match. Arguably, the games we lost both rucks (Geelong and Richmond), our third quarter has been probably our best quarter. It means that Watts is doing a good job at competing, and that our midfielders are still proving to be quite dominant even when we are losing the ruck battle. The issue with losing players early to injury is that it leaves us terribly short for rotations, and that's what is costing us in the last quarter. So with that in mind, I'm very confident we can win all bar the Adelaide game. I just hope that we can get through a game with no injuries, so that it gives us a fighting chance to show it.
-
I'm not cocky, but I'm not going in with a defeatist mindset either. I am going in with the confidence that our best footy is far superior to theirs, and that there's no reason that we can't show this tonight. It's not going to just happen for us, so hopefully the players are ready to put in the effort. If they are, then we can win this.
-
While his premiership was a cheap one, he did play a significant role in them winning on that day. He slaughtered Kennedy, and was close to winning a Norm Smith Medal. There is absolutely no doubt he would be our best defender if he came back, but I'm content with the way our defence is developing without him, and I don't really think adding him to it would fast track a flag for us.

2016 Player Review - # 30 Alex Neal-Bullen
The Chazz replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Absolute tripe. The 2 goals in the last 90 seconds of the 3rd quarter is what gave them major momentum. We go in at 3/4 time 15 points up, I couldn't see them beating us from there. -
They kicked 2 or 3 goals from their own lack of discipline. I remember at least twice where Motlop and Menzel gave up chasing a Dees player, and just sat back and spectated. Problem was that we either turned the next kick over, or it was kicked to a contest and they won it, resulting in those players being on their own, and that's exactly where the ball went back to. They were very, very lucky, and we were very, very unlucky (a lot of it from our own undoing). And those potting Viney - he slaughtered Selwood in the first half. As soon as Gawn went off and they got on top in the rucks, that's when Selwood and Dangerfield stamped themselves.

Do we still have to line up out the front of Myer waiting for BASS to open?

TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PREVIEW - ROUND 3
The Chazz replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Didn't realise it was a competition, 55. But as I said in a different post, which I have pt up above for you, I didn't think we needed the extra tall, but clearly Goody did. I'm happy to back Goody on this one. Your "model" was still flawed. -
Selwood is the one. Shut him down, and it makes it harder for PD. He (JS) won the game for them last week in 30 minutes. Answering the OP, I will break a long run of outs if we win.
