Stuie and Olisik?

I still am ropable with the 22 muppets that ran out on the ground that day. They complained to Stynes about the way the Club was operating. They wanted change. They had the option of showing public support for their coach, and at the same time giving their opinions credibility, by coming out and beating Geelong that day. Alas, they took the easy option of a revolt, and ended up backing themselves, and the coach they apparently adored, in to a corner that had one unpleasant way out. Bloke like Green, Rivers, Dunn, Jamar, Sylvia and Moloney were dead to me after that game. I felt for McKenzie, Trengove, Garland, and in some ways Frawley, who all tried as hard as they could. I will never forget that game. I watched it all (on TV thank Christ). I didn't get angry. I wasn't even shocked. A piece of the MFC died in me that day, and I'm as one-eyed and as passionate as anyone on here. And to top it off, of all clubs it had to be against, it had to be them.

Presumably for Melbourne? I think in the league as a whole, Roughead kicking the winning goal on Friday night is as good as the best stories get.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD

Not any more. Time you moved on. Good teams are winning playing bad this year. It's the 2017 thing. Best you get with it or you will be in a depressed state for a while.

0 tackles tonight. only player in our team to register a donut in that column. Love his guts though! -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 9
The Chazz replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
As long as Gysberts doesn't get 40+ touches and sticks it up us. Oh, hang on... -
If the day arises where Tyson is pushed out of the team, it'll mean one of 2 things; 1. We are going to win 5 straight flags, or 2. We have d!ckheads in charge of team selection Interesting that Lewis averages .26 clangers less than Dom, yet no-one is calling him a turnover merchant.

I'm going to go further on my previous post... I just watched the replay of all our goals from the weekend (not hard to do after a win!). I counted 11 of our 17 goals where Jeffy either; - Kicked it himself - Had an assist - Pressured the opponent to give someone else the chance to kick a goal - Was in the perfect place and was burnt by a teammate (Pedo burnt him twice!) - Was running past the drop of the ball at pace, goal side of his opponent Check out our 2,3,6,7,8,10,11,13,15,15 and 17th goals, but watch Jeffy just before these are kicked.

The best part is, Adelaide need Betts kicking goals for them to be a chance. As long as Jeffy is applying pressure, we are a big chance. A lot easier to apply pressure than kick 3+ each week. Just an aside to the man love for Jeffy. His positioning this year has been first class. He's always where the ball is dropping to, or about to drop. He's quite unlucky that he hasn't kicked an extra 10 goals for the year - he's actually been a victim of our other players' improve their ball handling!

Obviously knowing what we know now, I would've been shattered if we didn't take Oliver, as I think he could be something that we haven't had for many, many decades. But with that said, I wouldn't be upset if Mills had've landed with us. Mills, Oliver and Parish are all very, very good players. Clearly Oliver is the best of the 3, but the other 2 have definitely justified their first round selection.

Beamer opens up about Neeld relationship.
The Chazz replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Roosy's rebuild was made a lot easier because of Neeld's tenure. That's about all we should be thankful of from that time. -
Such sad news at a time that he needs everything to be "right". Thoughts are with you, Jesse.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 8
The Chazz replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Instead of using Tom as a part time ruck, I'd use his brother. Get him in around the physical stuff, get him being crunched. He's not a prized recruit (ie a top draft pick), so what do we have to lose? I said similar things about Watts about 5 years ago and got howled down by all and sundry. Been the best thing for him. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 8
The Chazz replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I would've presumed that Talia would go to Watts, then possibly to Petracca when Watts goes in to the ruck. There's a reason why Rance went to Watts first when we played Richmond, and that's because teams know how important Watts is to a competitive Melbourne. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 8
The Chazz replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
But let's face it, it was a bloody good "thing"! -
If Clarry has to do 2 or 3 "give and go's" in one passage to make more space for himself and/or his teammate, then that's fine by me. It's better than bombing it long under pressure, just to get his "kicks" stat up to impress some supporters. Rarely do any of his offloads, either by hand or foot, put his mate under pressure. It's a skill that stands out, mainly because not many players in our team, or in the league for that matter, possess it.
-
Why anyone in this thread thinks they have a better idea than Clarry on how Clarry should dispose of it is beyond me. The kid is a one in a million. He knows what the best disposal method is for each situation, and we have no bloody idea. That's the best part of having a player like this guy. We just get to sit back and think "wow, that's how the good players play". It's what makes them good.
-
The question Jim, is who does he come in for? I mean, for the particular role that JT plays, who has to make way for him? If it's not a like for like, then it'll take some creative positional movements, and I'm just not sure if what Jack would bring in is good enough to force Goodwin to do this.

Didn't know that, thanks DD. With that in mind, Hannan goes out for maybe Kent or ANB? Again, I don't understand the dropping of a player, then having him as a carry-over emergency. ANB was dropped, but hasn't been given the opportunity to go back to Casey and work on the deficiencies that got him dropped in the first place. Now the opportunity has arisen (presumably) with JKH and Hannan a big chance of being demoted, but one of the blokes that would be in the group to replace them (ANB), has had to sit out of footy for a week with no opportunity to work on what's needed. And don't give me this "resting" rubbish. If they are being rested, why not call their non-selection "managed" (seems to be the latest [censored] word for rest this season). I called them out on doing the same with Stretch last weekend and had my concerns confirmed with him playing at Casey this week. I know one thing though, it'd be bloody nice to try and keep the same 22 together for a run of 3 or 4 consecutive games.

Losing Gawn has meant, in some ways, that all the preseason planning for our midfield has been thrown out the window. What it has now done is forced our midfield to learn how to shark opposition ruck work, which with a long term view, is going to be a great thing for their development. That doesn't help us this year though. While we might be winning the clearances even without Gawn, our midfielders aren't really playing their own game. They are going to each ruck contest with about a 25% chance of our ruck winning the tap, so the confidence of getting our outside game going becomes more difficult. When Gawn plays, we've got around a 75% chance of him winning the tap, which allows us to set up with so much more confidence. We can't underestimate the importance of the "Hitouts to advantage" stat that Gawn brings, and the impact this has on a lot of other elements of our game plan.

Hannan laid 6 tackles, just saying. While his possession count wasn't high, it will be interesting to see if Goodwin is more about tackle count (i.e. pressure) as opposed to the amount you get the footy. From what I saw; Out - Bugg, JKH In - Melksham, Stretch
-
That's not what I am saying at all. You lost me when you tried to use a different player from a different team as evidence that Trengove can still provide something to us. It's an irrelevant comparison. You further lost me when you said Mitchell isn't "damaging" - he won a Brownlow FFS! Now your failure to comprehend has ended our discussion. Good day.
-
I know this thread would be made redundant if this happens, but I just can't see how people can be so certain about particular outs most weeks. We have no idea what "role" they are being asked to play, and even if they seem to have a low possession game, or whatever other indicators we use for ourself, it's the KPIs that the coached set that will determine if a player stays in or not. Just like my views of Kent's performance on the weekend. I thought he was quite poor, but he may well have met/done what the coaches were asking of him.

Still $67 for the Brownlow, equal with Viney. The smart punters would have big dollars on it, knowing that it's highly likely those odds will drop significantly before the end of the year. I don't think he will win the Brownlow, but that old "cash out" feature will make people a lot of money. Similar to that of Gawn last year.
