Wow, that's your reply? If Goodwin didn't have Trengove well and truly informed of how the night would pan out, we're in serious shiit. I'm confident that he did, and because it is unlikely that we will ever find out, this is what I will believe, hence my dismissing of it all. Would we be slashing our wrists if it had've been Dion Johnstone that sat on the bench all game? No.

I would feel sorry for him if he was told he was playing, then didn't get any minutes. For some reason, most likely common sense, I don't feel the need to feel sorry for him.

It's amazing that some think Trengove wouldn't have been told what was going to happen.

Presuming you were watching the Dogs/Suns game, considering he didn't commentate ours. Anyway, this was the loss we needed to have, and I'm glad it was a JLT game and not for premiership points. I'm more disappointed that I sat up and watched the whole game, rather than going to bed earlier. Bloody tired today, stupid 8:40pm games played in Perth on a weekday (other than a Friday). Bring on the coffee.

JLT Round 4, Thursday 9th March - West Coast at Subiaco

There are 2 men in Clayton's life that will win him a Brownlow or two, the first is Max, the second is Brendan McCartney. -

I thought Oliver would be in love with Max as he would make him look good. I think Max would love Oliver as Max just needs to win the tap, tap it in the area of Oliver, and he will win it. I'll admit, I didn't watch him as close as some in 16, but fark me, I'm a watching tonight, and I'm a loving. I feel all Picket Fence all of a sudden! -

and of Tyson (hurst me to say that!), and Jones, and Viney, and Vince. Get my point? I do have a slight bias toward ANB, but he's far from our worst out there at present. -

My half time views; - Oliver is a freak - Salem can't play a defensive role. So much more effective when he's not worrying about an opponent. not sure if that's good?! - Our backline is better with Jetta - Dom and Watts are rusty as - Max is an elite ruck. Not a newsflash I know, but I'm glad he's come back in form at least an equal to 2016 - We're playing like [censored] and we're less than 2 goals in it - The Gawn/Spencer could work. I haven't dismissed it - ANB has something to work with - Players like Bugg play the way that Goodwin wants Melbourne to play like. He's not the best on our team, but he does it. That's why he will play seniors frequently -

If only you had a dollar for every time you've been told that, hey Uncle. -
As this thread has raised its head again, thought I'd share this will you, GT. Geelong, season 2006, finished 10th with 10 wins. % of 99. Losses greater than 30 points; Rd 3 by 52, Rd 8 by 102, Rd 13 by 92, Rd 17 by 30, Rd 22 by 61. 3 of their biggest losses came against sides below them on the ladder. No need to say what happened to them in 2007.

Plonk Frawley in our defence and we are a significantly better team. I fail to understand how anyone disagrees. -
Col, if you check closely in the background of my pic, you will see Daisycutter holding up a sign as a show of support for his lady friends...

Long time reader. first time poster on this thread (I think!). But, it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge our female posters, and those that are a bit unsure (you know who you are), on this day, International Women's Day for 2017. At the risk of getting in to a political argument, it's great to see so much publicity these days trying to get gender equality to the levels that it should be, because without the wonderful women in our life, none of us would be here today.

Maybe it's a marketing ploy to announce our back of jumper sponsor this week?

Either that or attach it to the bulldog used in ManDee's gif above.

JLT Round 4, Thursday 9th March - West Coast at Subiaco

I had achilles soreness once, Iva. Think it only took 18 months to get over it. Got to the stage where I considered playing a game so that it would just snap so that I could go through a proper, "normal" rehab program with it. One of the most frustrating injuries I have ever had was the old achilles "soreness". -

You would expect that if Watts plays, Spencer won't. And I would further expect that if Kent plays, then ANB won't. If Viney is rested, then I'd imagine ANB comes back in. I don't expect any of the "possibles" to play this weekend. They are secondary depth. -
Given he has played both JLT games to date, ANB will likely stay in the side now that JKH's out, AvB's apparent injury, and Kent's fitness being in question for Round 1. To be honest, I'm not unhappy that ANB will be given the opportunity. I rate him, not sure why, but just think there's something there. And PF, there will still be room for Watts, presuming he gets a gig this weekend.

Sadly, Wiseblood, it did, and way too early. Stynes saved this club from dying, and in the end, probably spent more time and energy doing that than he did saving himself (and that says a lot given the extremes he went to to save himself). We all wish that his personal outcome was a lot better, and ended a bloody long time later. But it didn't, and thanks a heck of a lot to him, the MFC is here to fight another day. The work that Peter Jackson has undertaken is as big, if not bigger than what Jim was able to do. This is a new chapter of the Melbourne Football Club book. A book that J Stynes write some many memorable chapters, but to start a new chapter, the previous one has to end. What will NEVER end is the MFC book, and that we can thank Jim for. I just don't know why the club is making a public show of it, especially 5 years after his passing.
-
Will get shot down for this, but will say it anyway. Why are we having a club tribute 5 years after his death? We acknowledged Jim's passing and work he did with the club in a very appropriate manner shortly after his passing. That chapter has closed, and a new one has started and ended since. We are about to start working on the next chapter. Let's use all our energy on that. In no way am I suggesting we forget. Attack away...

Extremely, extremely doubtful. We have depth in positions now, and I can't for the life of me see them "trying" a bloke in a position that he hasn't been training all summer for, especially when we have other more suitable replacements ready to go that have been training there.

Was RDB on the didgeridoo?

Not really re-writing history. Even in our lean years, we had to have a list of 40-odd players. Do we call all of them loyal because they were on our list at that time? Maybe Garland was offered a lot more to stay with us than what other clubs may have been offering. Does that make him loyal? Maybe he didn't attract interest at other clubs meaning he had no option than stay. His last contract extension was more where I was implying he had us or no-one (I realise I didn't state it as that, sorry). But I guess if the likes of Dunn can get picked up, then the "ones trash is another treasure" saying is still alive and well in the AFL, and will continue to prolong the careers of some players.
-
Someone above mentioned loyalty, to be quite harsh, he's only loyal because he would struggle to get a spot on any other team. I, too, would be loyal if I knew that my only chance of being on an AFL list would be to stay at Melbourne. He's not the only player, and we're not the only team that that applies to, so I don't mean for it to sound like a personal attack.
