It will if you look at his handball stats. The stats won't show how many contests he makes and gets the ball to ground for the crumbers to do their thing. The stats also won't show the amount of off-the-ball body work he does to create space for said crumbers.

Why?

There's always player/s every preseason that is the topic of such "issues". From memory it was Motlop (Geelong) and Yarran (Richmond) last year that weren't where their clubs expected them to be. I can't be bothered going back to other years, but there's always someone. Problem for Jack is that the media love heaping crap on him, and he has given them another reason to (directly or indirectly).

I rarely have any facts about rumours, etc, but I can assure you, I know of one NSW-based "journalist" that scours footy fan forums to write a majority of his/her articles. If they have no solid news to report, they go straight to the forums to find something. The above is fact. And I'm sure they aren't the only ones (although I can't say that part as a matter of fact!).

So, let me get this straight, you have an issue with them changing any gender specific wording to match the sex of the players singing it, and that they have re-recorded it with a female singing it. Not only that, but it's not about our club. If this is one of the biggest issues in your life for you to worry about, then I'm quite jealous.

How do you know what approach they are doing behind the scenes?

Dee, I'd much prefer the likes of ANB, Harmes, JKH, et al, to be playing. Reality is, this is still a practice match, so let's try and build some confidence with these guys.

And how good is it to see Roughy in full swing? Colours aside, here's a man that would've gone through hell, like man, many others in less profile positions than him, but his fight and determination has seen him get back to the top of his game. An inspiration.

Why keep banging on about Fyfe then? You are clearly in awe of his recent media performances, what has this go to do with Jack being a co-captain? And I will repeat, most Freo supporters I know were far from impressed with Fyfe's interviews. They have more questions than answers about his playing future from 2018. But go ahead and think that they (supporters) will be very impressed if you wish, but it's far from being accurate. I'm done on this one, Fifty-5.

I'm struggling to work out the comparison between Fyfe and Viney. Fyfe has been Freo's main man for a number of years, has had a significant amount more media duties than Viney. It's no surprise that he sounded a lot more polished. That said, I'm yet to hear from a Freo supporter that wasn't disappointed with the way he handled the whole contract situation. If anything, he has put doubt in some of their minds. There's no way Fyfe's performance on SEN and any other interview since he was named captain, would've appealed more to new Freo members/sponsors, than what Viney's minimal interviews did to Melbourne members/sponsors. I much prefer our captain to do "captains" jobs, such as lead the team onfield, be a role model to players off it, and lift the cup at the end of the season. Because we have 2 captains, I'm more than happy for Jones to take any other media duties until such time as Jack has had appropriate training. The fact that Jack oozes the first two of the jobs I listed will ensure he will be a very good captain this year, and will only grow in the role over the coming seasons. If I'm wanting to attract sponsors, I want whoever is the most marketable representing my company, which at the moment is Gawn. If I'm wanting to sell memberships, I want players that the average Joe can relate to, such as Max, Bernie and Watts.
