My bad. To be fair you've always said you hope you're wrong on Watts. Still a long way to go before we find out.
-
Is Sandy Roberts a saints supporter? He's calling half their team by obscure nicknames and can't get a player on our team right. in terms of the game, great intensity from the guys. Skills still a bit off but will improve. I think confidence is the key and we have some decent players to come back like Brayshaw, Lumumba, VdB, Dunn etc. And I know ProDee and Jumbo have a bet going - I think Watts is an absolute lock for round one at this stage. In very good form and clearly one of our best over the three games.
-
Sandy cannot get a name right. Meanwhile, Garland's kick was rubbish
-
Jack Watts' marking has improved out of sight this pre season.
-
Take the win but still some worrying signs for the season in terms of disposal. But we dropped the equivalent game last year against the Bombers and beat a pretty strong Port last week so I'd say we've improved a little bit. Hopefully the guys are at least building some belief and winning habits.

Who Are You Most Excited to See Play in 2016

I concur. -
I don't understand why people hold this view. A number of posters who have spoken to Ollie have relayed back that he has no intention of ever coming here.

I'd squeeze Aaron Davey in for Obst as mentioned previously and probably give Cam Bruce a gig instead of Yeats. -
As one of the more impatient on this site, your willingness to recruit the cast-offs of others surprises me. Very rarely do delisted players from other clubs go on to be great players elsewhere. It's the fringe players that strong clubs would be willing to keep that we should target, not the ones they happily let go. Not every reject from a top 4 club would be a walk up start on our list.

Flashback... oh dear! -
Stuie, he is not arguing that every forward is there to kick goals and wheeling out spurious stats. He is suggesting that KEY forwards in every top eight team happen to kick plenty of goals. That would suggest that to become a top eight team we need to find a second forward who can "play a role" that also includes scoring. Garlett is a separate point. Most of the good teams also have a good small forward. In fact, EVERY finalist had at least 3 players kick at least 25 goals for the season and half of them (including three of the top four teams) had five players. By my reckoning, that makes goal kicking at least part of the role of most forward line players (and all KPFs)... so maybe we are heading back to the 90s after all?
-
The heated debate over Pedo and Dawes of itself shows how much we need a new option. At best both of them are very average role players over the course of a season. Someone like Max King coming on quickly to play forward/ruck would add significantly our forward line. Although I suspect he is more a 2017-18 proposition.

If you have $20 and swap it with me for two $10, should you not be able to buy something worth $20 anymore? This system works better, it just gives people who prefer bigger notes the chance to get them and makes trading universally easier.
-
His first post wasn't incorrect though, just included Academy players where they would slot in
-
It would be difficult to write a worse trade appraisal than that. Almost across the board.
-
I agree but I would love to see T-Mac start the year at CHF. I think Dunn and Garland have both been tried as forwards and really only settled into their careers once moved to defence. T-Mac has the weapons to be elite at either end of the ground if he can learn to kick straight for goal.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - TOMAS BUGG

Actually think it was 25, not 10, that we had originally!! -
Actually, all my Collingwood supporting mates say that is exactly what he is... I have only seen him play once (QB) myself and he looked ok.

It's easy to dismiss plough's comments but they weren't too wide of the mark. We're still trading in the economy of hope and potential after all this time.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
Radar Detector replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
I have come around to the view that Melksham might be a reasonable acquisition. That said, on the available evidence, I still think we have overpaid for an out of form, dime a dozen midfielder with a potential WADA issue who wanted out of a basket case club. Particularly in the context of what other clubs are doing. -
At a minimum, West Coast should have matched the effort for Selwood. Complaining at the compensation for an RFA is redundant, they could have engineered a situation where they got something better and Geelong actually have to pay up. Cats have killed it so far. Anyone who doesn't think they've already materially improved the list within three days is kidding themselves. And talk of a massive fall is nothing but hopeful.
-
Does that really improve our list much if it eventuates? Maybe a little... maybe not
