The sooner clubs start siphoning off media rights to sell individually the sooner we die. I assume this package would include media rights to games? How would our package compare to the rest of the competition? The media rights must be negotiated collectively and must be distributed equitably. The NFL model is the one we should be following, not the EPL.

No you're talking in circles because you keep shifting the goalposts. That's your MO, once you get called out on one thing go on to another. Next cab off the rank, blaming Melbourne supporters for missing the finals in 2017 ?

It's not a hard concept or me to understand at all. That's why I don't put my money into pokie machines. Doesn't change the fact that it's still legalised gambling, same as any other gambling. But you know that already.

Exactly, if people are going to pump their money into a computer designed to take it better it goes to us than someone else.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARRISON PETTY
Dr. Gonzo replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
Players that come in their rookie year and play senior footy, let alone make an impact, are the exception not the rule. Years of looking at the draft for saviours may have clouded your vision but almost all players taken in the draft are "project" players. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
Dr. Gonzo replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know nothing about him but his attributes seem to tick the boxes we need to cover. -
We need pace and foot skills, not more big bodies.

A large part of the NFL ratings slump would be due to poor Thursday night matches every week and a lot of people opting to watch ESPN's Redzone channel on Sundays (which covers every game, up to 9 games at a time) rather than watch one channel covering one game. It's also due to the quality of the league being down overall a couple of good teams a couple of poor teams and about 25-28 teams in the middle. Combine this with a lot of people opting for streaming options of games and I think it's more about changing viewing habits rather than eyes off the product completely.

It's a bad idea with little merit and not worth the mfcs time investing in for little to no gain, probably even a loss. It certainly isn't going to cover $4m. While I agree unique and good quality apparel would be nice it also isn't going to cover $4m and I'm not even sure we can do it considering the AFL's licensing agreements. Any other ideas?

Yeah he still posts on bigfooty but had the Giants as his team of support, never misses an opportunity to bag the die hard Demon supporters and blame the supporters for anything and everything that is wrong with the club. Even in this thread he blames the supporters for the club being unable to land a back of jumper sponsor earlier in the year I mean FFS

Do you think the Hawks are just going to roll over and give up tens of millions in revenue? It's not like we're fighting Goliath on our own, the majority of clubs won't stand for it unless the AFL put their money where their mouth is and even then... As for the topic at hand, you're obviously more intelligent and industrious than the average MFC supporter/demonland poster, what revenue generating ideas do you have?
-
The article you quoted said the Andrews government is doubling the length of pokie licenses and expanding the amount club are able to own. If the AFL tries to impose restrictions on clubs trading they will face severe opposition. Additional revenue is a must regardless. The club should and are looking at additional potential revenue streams. I don't imagine an online phone directory is one of them.

I've read them, nothing in there indicates our pokies revenue is in danger or that the AFL could do anything about it even if they wanted to. You've also conveniently ignored the fact that in order for the clubs to take the AFL's preaching seriously the AFL would themselves have to give up sponsorships/partnerships with TAB, Sportsbet, Crown etc something that is not going to happen.

The main avenues of extra revenue are sponsorship and selling reserve seat and corporate box packages to home games. This is why getting to 50k and above members is a must as it creates a scarcity which means members must buy reserve seat packages. Having a lot of MCC members hurts us in this regard as they obviously have the MCC reserve so don't need to reserve a seat. Reserve seat and corporate packages are where the interstate clubs thrive and where clubs like Collingwood, Essendon and the Cats make a packet. The other option is selling more games interstate which is obviously anathema to the supporters.

MCC pays extra to the MFC for home games following an agreement signed several years ago ($100k per game?) So regardless of attendance we make money. But the difference between a 25-30k crowd and a 75-80k crowd is something like $500k-$1m.
