  1. Good luck with that
  2. Can we put this on the banner?
  3. This is where I sit. There is potential for this to be an issue or potential it is nothing. But we don't know and so many on here are so quick to lambast the club at any little negative comment from a spud commentator or ribbing from an opposition supporter. It's just confirmation bias by some posters who already hold a negative view of the club and any little thing they see as "soft" reinforces their belief. This is not one event in a recurring list under this regime so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for the moment.
  4. Frawley, the former head of the AFLCA, having a go at the players for seeking advice from the AFLPA. What would Frawley have preferred, the coach and FD refuse to take on board the concerns of 1/3 of the list and push ahead anyway with a "my way or the highway" attitude?
  5. The anti-union rhetoric.
  6. Do people really care what radio commentators or opposition supporters say? Who gives a stuff, no one will remember in a month.
  7. Exactly, the players obviously felt any perceived benefits were outweighed by the potential for injuries and the deconditioning that would occur especially considering theyre on a break after this. Better to keep their conditioning and fitness base up to hit preseason hard on return in Jan. Storm in a tea cup.
  8. This is another example of projecting neo-liberal free market ideologies onto a footy environment. There's nothing wrong with players seeking advice from the AFLPA.
  9. That's weird, I did mine online and I've received one of them with Viney on the card. I think I selected Petracca for the other but it hasn't come yet.
  10. That was my thinking, would add far more benefit to give the players some intelligent insight rather than putting them through a 1970s style commando camp
  11. Journos have sources especially where the AFLPA is involved. The story would've got out anyway I don't see any issue with being transparent.
  12. Oscar was good in the second half of the year, turned it around on Queens Bday I thought. With his brother moving forward there is room in defence for him alongside Lever, Jetta, Hibberd, Lewis and possibly Frost.
  13. Which is why I don't expect to see Weideman in the team unless he busts the door down at Casey (or in the practice games).
  14. I honestly think I would stop going to games if that happened. May still watch on TV but can't be certain .
  15. Yep except he has an added hardness to his game that gives him an edge. Yze obviously had better goal sense though.
  16. I've loved Salem from his first game, he oozes class and not just in his kicking skills. I think given a free run he will be one of our most important and impactful players. Hopefully he gets the midfield minutes this year as I think he will be a great addition to our rotations and provide depth of class through there when Oliver and Viney need a rest.
  17. I can't imagine my two boys growing up to support other teams. It would break my heart. The 4yo is well and truly indoctrinated hopefully that won't change. The 2yo is still very young but on the way.
  18. Plenty of times players have got games on reputation rather than merit. I assume every coach will say that is out the window when they come in and a clean slate will apply but it's not always the case.
  19. He'll play mid this year all things being equal
  20. More like sideshow bob
  21. Just the booklet on how to buy them
  22. I know the arguments, but in a supposed professional competition anything that is detrimental to the pillars of equalisation (specifically the draft and salary cap) should not be encouraged
  23. Swans and Lions have access to father sons in addition to the academies. It's another way of the AFL attempting rk ensure the northern clubs are perennial finalists.
  24. The discount only applies to indigenous and "multicultural" players. Last time i checked the definition of multicultural is so broad that my kids would qualify because even though I was born and raised in Australia and followed footy my whole life, my wife didn't migrate to Australia until she was 15. The academies are ridiculous and antithetical to a fair competition.
  25. I think he meant "compared to choosing Geelong" "Where else can I get away with being a flakey outsider with limited application to my chosen profession? Outside of moving into the public service downhill skiing Port is the perfect opportunity to while away the rest of my career"
