I wish the ex-board members, coteries etc would support instead of undermine. A key reason we've been a shambles for 5 decades. I have no issue with the pies getting rid of Pert, did anyone really think Eddie would commission a review that called for his removal? Something had to give and it wasn't Eddie or Bucks. Similarly with the Malthouse/Bucks succession did Pert mishandle it or was he given a poison chalice to manage by Eddie? Not saying Pert hasn't had his flaws or even that he was the right choice but those two factors don't worry me.
  2. Trees aren't an issue particularly if they're not native. The only tree that would be an issue is the scar trees https://www.google.com/url?q=http://www.mcg.org.au/~/media/files/mcg/general/yarra-park-tree-strategy-2013.pdf%3Fla%3Den&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwjW2uW-i_HbAhUCF5QKHcVOCWEQFggQMAI&usg=AOvVaw1PjJg-0zczRGxejlrjyzbA
  3. Yarra Park also far more accessible to the CBD.
  4. Been happening for decades https://youtu.be/rij3zkBwFjE
  5. Pretty sure they took it down and kicked a goal
  6. It should be a talking point. WCE were completely outplayed by the bombers yet still won the freekick count 33-17! How the [censored] is that possible??? Wingard gets a non-mark results in a goal. Melksham gets a rubbish free against him, results in a goal taken off us, 50 the other way which ended up in a goal. That's 3 goals right there in a 10 point game. Many more examples as well but just those 2 instances umpired correctly and we win.
  7. Or catch the train to Flinders and jump on a tram to Wellington Pde

Would have to be a cheese platter in there you'd think

  10. The only possible objection I could understand is if the development would impact sacred indigenous land. As long as the scar tree isn't impacted (which I doubt it will be) I don't think that's an issue.
  11. Is Yarra Park governed by Melbourne City Council or MCG Trust? It really isn't land that can be solely managed for the benefit of the local residents considering its part of Melbourne's Sporting Precinct and in particular the MCG which people from all over the city/state/country descend on on a weekly basis.
  12. I'd be classified as a "Greenie" and can't disagree with what you've said. Full steam ahead, project's a go
  13. Not talking about building in those suburbs but access from those suburbs. Taxi trips would be required no matter where you build it. People coming from northern suburbs would need to take taxis to anything near/south of Richmond Station.

  15. Not worried about that, I've actually grown to tolerate Docklands since we've had a win or 2 there. Only issue would be small crowds = low revenue because MFC supporters steer clear.
  16. The club has run promos with sponsors The Duke and Sporting Globe in the past so no reason why something similar couldn't happen here. Though a cafe with broccoli lattes and smashed avo on toast but go better in that neck of the woods. This site has the added bonus of being completed within the decade vs the Richmond rail line which would be at least 15-20 years away if it ever happens.
  17. No worries, not trying to nitpick but I love the history of the game and the city so just wanted to clarify for my own benefit if nothing else
  18. I always thought the EMCG was in between Fed Square and Jolimont Terrace, where the raillines are now behind Birrarung Marr. This was Essendon's home ground until they moved to Windy Hill in the 20s. EDIT - yep looks like I was right http://www.boylesfootballphotos.net.au/East+Melbourne+Cricket+Ground
  19. You can also get the tram from Flinders St station right to the doorstep or a tram up Batman Ave from Richmond Station then down Flinders onto Wellington Pde.
  20. Too close to the northern stand swyl, need to get a place SOUTH of the G. And with a social club.
  21. Jolimont suits the well-heeled but Toorak, Bentleigh, Elsternwick etc doesn't
  22. International, Sheffield, T20 etc
  23. Because it's the Melbourne CRICKET Ground and we would once again be shunted to undertaking training wherever we could find a patch of grass.
  24. This is something that has been commented on for a while by people in the media and this is not a media leak but a poster with a supposed inside source. Wait for the article in tomorrow's Sun quoting Grapeviney as a source
