Chicken and egg. Supporters need to show they actually give a crap first and the rest will follow. All those excuses are incredibly pissweak. Still ropeable about this, MFC supporters living up to the stereotype. Another post complaining about the MCC Dining Room and the bars, give me strength. In the outer we had great seats, beautiful weather, cold beer and watched a comfortable win. But then I go to watch and support the team not socialise in the MCC.

As a Docklands game I think it's Ticketmaster and not Ticketek also
-
That's only AFL Members. I'd say it's going to be difficult to get tickets if the reduced capacity is maintained - I think Hawks had about 3000 tickets for their "away" game members book.
-
The Salem one was probably there. A bit soft but he did turn him which could've been seen as a slinging motion. Can't remember Hunts specifically but do remember thinking it was weak at the time. We probably got away with a couple as well k didn't think the umpires were terrible which is about as good as it gets with them usually.

Was great to see Yze's coaching paying off already with Langdon's banana on the run goal in the first. Freo fans must have been thinking when the hell has he ever been able to kick like that!
-
Yes it is a disgrace that you can't choose which seats or at least which bay you want to sit in.
-
Is that because you upgraded your seat? That is you got a ticket in an area that you wouldn't normally have access to with a GA membership? You should've been able to get level 1 or level 3 seating for free.
-
Excuses. Yes I'm surprised, we got almost 40k against GWS a couple of years ago where were those people today? Bandwagoners. I'm pretty furious about this because it's hamstringing the club. If the supporters don't care what hope have we got?
-
That type of thinking will doom our club. I get people staying away in dead rubbers at the end of a poor season. But round 1 on a beautiful autumn day after a year and a half without footy? Pathetic. Plus not sure if you're aware but we actually won today. Great start to the season for our team, 9 other clubs will wish they could say that. Freo expect to play finals this year, how do you reckon their fans are feeling after today's game?
-
I'm sure some do, probably still at least 20k supporters in Metro Melbourne who decided not to bother today. And that's being conservative.
-
Yep heard that, any idea why?
-
Precious. Supporters complain about the culture of the club - read this post and take a look in the mirror. Pert and Bartlett are pushing [censored] uphill
-
I get some of the difficulties but Jesus Christ today was a day for the supporters of the club to make a statement. They keep wanting the club and team to make a statement they need to do it themselves. When they showed the 21k figure on scoreboard I was embarrassed. We want the AFL to treat us with respect (eg not shunt us off to Cairns for 2 games in 5 days making us fly up the same day as our game) we need to earn not just by results onfield but by the supporters showing they actually give a damn. No doubt head office would've been looking at that and rueing the dollars gone begging by agreeing not to switch our game with the Hawks/Bombers.

People need to stop watching tv and reading the papers. Life is far less stressful that way.

Quoting this post but have seen it mentioned multiple times in this thread Freo were not injury riddled. They had a couple of key players out, same as us. They still had a top notch midfield in there in Fyfe, Mundy, Brayshaw, Cerra.

Haha yep me too, got the SMS as I was leaving the car park ?♂️
-
Yep I was there with my son, parents, uncle, brother, sister, cousin and I also scanned in with 6 spare tickets I had in the AFL members to help with the crowd figures. We won, never really looked like being headed and the atmosphere was crap because our "supporters" stayed home instead of going along and supporting the team and club.
-
Excuses. Richmond, Carlton, Collingwood and Footscray supporters seemed to be able to figure out the ticketing. First game in 18 months, sunny Saturday arvo at the G. No excuses for people staying away 21k is an embarrassment.
-
Great to get the win, always a good feeling getting the first 4pts in the bank. Clearances need massive work. 21k is an embarrassment. Pull your fingers out Melbourne supporters. Loved the look of Jackson and Pickett, will get better with experience. Petracca relatively quiet, must nail those simple set shots if you want to be the best. Lever and May incredible in defense and Jetta held up well also. Oliver 30 touches but what did he really do? A couple of nice things but needs to learn to punish Will be much better once Brown and Weideman return. Undid a lot of good work with poor conversion although the Dockers let us off the hook a couple of times as well. Without Fyfe we probably win by another 3 or 4 goals though.
-
Not just pathetic, I reckon it's actually a disgusting performance by the MFC supporters. Congrats to all of us who were there, where are the other 30,000 of you?? Disgraceful, how about you actually support your team? No wonder the AFL treats us like the poor relation.

30 and 3 will do ?
-
Bring toys, water and snacks
-
I agree, anything sub-30k and the AFL would be looking at us and asking serious questions. Somewhere around 40k should be the expectation.
-
It's a bit frustrating - of course wins will translate into memberships and bums on seats, but what strategies do they have to capitalise on any success or expand our demographic? What strategies do they have to tap into new markets (ie migrant communities) or strengthening our ties to the Casey area? Players doing sessions at local schools is fine but I don't think it's going to cut the mustard.
