Rd 01 Availability: Viney, Pickett & Brayshaw?
Dr. Gonzo replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Surprised about Kossie, I wonder if it will be alongside Chandler? If Chandler has another good outing against the Dogs it will be hard (dumb?) to exclude him from the round 1 side. -
damn autocorrect - two *others*

There's a doco that's going to be on Amazon prime in the next week or so with a behind the scenes look at last season. I think there's 4 main people involved, Eddie Betts, Richmond's Pres (Peggy) and two rivers who I can't recall. Should be worth watching.

Maybe we could ask to have our annual trips to Tassie and Geelong moved to the G ?
-
Move them to Sunday arvo and put Giants/Saints on Saturday night then. Channel 7 may not be happy but oh well If our game is moved I will be extremely angry - I've specifically organised my son's bday party for Sunday arvo so I can go to the footy for the first time in 18 months if they move us to Sunday I'll spew!!!

I prefer the Al Davis way

I know many will say "thank god" but I'm a bit disappointed the club hasn't continue this this offseason. Was a great entree to the season and had some good insights for fans. I wish they had the balls to say get stuffed to the detractors and just do what they want to do.
-
You really trust the AFL with any quid pro quo? After decades upon decades of being screwed over by VFL/AFL policies with promises that thing's will be made right "eventually" I think we'd be incredibly stupid to offer up anything of the sort. "Fool me once...."
-
There's quite a few multi premiership winners on the honour roll who should probably be ahead. Norm Smith might get a mention, Jack Mueller, Ivor Warne-Smith, Percy Beames, Don Cordner, Allan La Fontaine, Albert Chadwick - plenty of players through our history who would be above Maxy. I love him but come on.
-
He's not a footballer, complete liability in the side
-
Gawn was dropping back to fill holes as well as pushing forward
-
I was sitting here thinking "didn't Higgins go to the Cats??" only to realise that was Shaun Higgins not Jack!
-
They're the two games I'm worried about due to the number of Tigers/Pies supporters who have AFL memberships. As well as the neutrals who may want to go. I reckon they're gonna stuff themselves here, people will be purchasing tickets and have them up on eBay within minutes for the big games particularly Anzac Day and other big drawing games.
-
From the info on BigFooty it sounds like AFL members will be all in, no priority for gold members or even members of the competing sides. Pretty crap if that's the situation
-
Lol no, not even close
-
Was pleased to see TMacs form and the kid Chandler, could give us something up forward if he keeps that form going into the season
-
Agreed but it's not just MFC members od. How many members across Vic/the comp may drop off impacting all clubs/AFL finances. Think of clubs like Saints, Dogs, North based out of Docklands. If they can only get 15k or 20k supporters in their memberships could drop dramatically.
-
Exactly DC I had the same discussion with a Bombers member on BF. I can understand both sides - you pay more for a premium membership you expect to get first dibs. But also if the lower tier members have no chance of attending good luck getting them to sign up or if they have stopping then from claiming a refund. Two years in a row might be a bit much for some at the moment.
-
How many people in the outer Melbourne suburbs are going to switch allegiances though? I live in the north/west closer to Tulla, Whitten Oval and Arden St than Goschs or the G doesn't mean I'm going to suddenly take out a Bombers membership. We'd be banking on converting new migrants which needs to involve more than just moving our training base out to Casey.
-
Will MFC members have access to seats in the AFL members area that go unclaimed? When we play interstate sides it's like sitting at a VFL game on that side of the ground.
-
But they could get paid to do so somewhere closer to the CBD/inner suburbs. If given the choice of playing with a team that trains at Casey or one that trains at Olympic Boulevard, Punt Rd or Princes Park most guys in their early-mid 20s would choose the central location over the outer suburbs every day of the week.
-
But if the players have the option of playing for Collingwood, Richmond, Carlton hell even Saints, Bulldogs North and Essendon and there relatively central training bases why would they have to "get used to it"?
-
Out in the boondocks? No thanks
-
This is one example https://alignedleisure.com.au/about-us/ The fact is the MFC decided to turn away millions because it was "the right thing to do". That's fine if they can replace that revenue but they haven't and members will rightly ask the question about how they plan to compensate for the shortfall in revenue. Can't keep re-evaluating the land they own every season.
-
So nothing of any interest at all? Nothing about any additional revenue streams to cover the lost pokies revenue? What we will do if there are caps on crowds this season and how that will impact the bottom line (particularly early in the year with the Anzac eve game)? Clearly no updates on the home base (what exactly did Bartlett say to flick responsibility to the State gov?) I have to say Bartlett, Pert et al are starting to lose me too. Results matter and if they're not happening onfield then they need to at least be hitting their off field targets. How are we tracking to hit our goal of 75k members? What repercussions are there for the club failing to hit their goals at the first hurdle missing finals in 2020? This is the type of thing people get annoyed at and why they feel as though the club treats members with contempt. The club doesn't engage it's members it just fobs them off with platitudes.
