That would make the rankings more accurate than 90% of the information we get on various media platforms and websites. The combination of his work and Emma Q's gives a fair indication of events for draft day.

Its a shame that Newtons Facebook photos aren't available anymore. You could have had a special banner for the period of October-February with pics of the players on end of season footy trips.

Eishold, Duursma, Koops, Jimmy, Lyon (with mullet), Strawbs & Jakovich Something for everyone there. Maybe you could program it so the picture changes randomly?

I am curious. If you were to rate players on their absolute potential where would Grimes rate? Morton is a more devastating kick, finds the ball at will, almost 10cm taller and is a top5 runner at the club(I am aware that Grimes is also very good at the beep test). We have other potentially great players: Watts, Frawley, Sylvia, Garland, Blease (apparently) and Jurrah. Where does Grimes' absolute best game place him in this bunch? One thing in his favour is his hunger and commitment. As I mentioned in the Maric thread, it is one thing to be talented and another to be driven enough to get the most out of your talent.

I see a bit of Aker about him. He is good overhead, kicks well, reads the play and has a nice burst of pace. Whether he works as hard as Aker did to get where he is today is another question. High hopes for Addam.

11 or 18 should be used for best available. From what I have read Vardy is the best of an average bunch of ruckmen and could go around the pick 11. If he or someone better is rated at around pick 18, so be it. Either way I would hope we take the best available but if a KPF or ruckmen is equal best available I hope we take them.

Stuck with him through lots of tough times. If you get the chance to meet him, the 1st thing you notice is that he is very likable and confident. Rapt to see him get his body right and show the footy world that he is still capable of elite performances. Interested to see where he finishes in the Bluey.

People who think our ruck stocks are good are fooling themselves. Jamar has played half a dozen good games in his career and is a liability with the ball in his hands. If there is any truth to the rumour that he would like to leave then our ruck stocks go from thin to thin air. Meesen could be OK but he is coming off a pretty nasty injury and hasn't played much footy since he was drafted. He has a long way to go before I am comfortable with him. Spencer looks like he could become a good tap ruckmen where his natural aggression and size will make him a battering ram. Like the previous 2, he isn't great by foot nor hand and needs to be surrounded by mids who will run to receive the ball when he is in possession. His rate of improvement is heartening so I am willing to wait for him. Martin is the worst exponent of the art of ruckwork but he has the tools to pinch hit. A little undersized and timid to be a full time ruck but I could see him in a good side playing the Leigh Brown type of role as a utility ruck/key position player. If we keep pick 11 and a ruckman is available and is considered to be best available or equal best available, we would be silly not to take him.

My beef is that perception is reality in the sporting landscape and he isn't helping our cause. Just zip it.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/09/25/2696875.htm I am a little over this bloke. Can't he keep quiet until after the trade/draft period?

got this off ology http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story...5012432,00.html "And a day after losing midfielder Brock McLean, Melbourne yesterday moved swiftly to tie up its best player, Aaron Davey. "The Demons ended a dispute over the length of an initial contract offer to Davey, who was coming out of contract next month, by agreeing to a new three-year deal. Melbourne had previously offered Davey a two-year contract, which was unacceptable to the player."

He is the epitome of the term, "Cashed up Bogan". He can't help it. He was hatched that way.
-
Its my understanding that the surgery could have been delayed and he was advised to get himself taken care of.
-
We low balled McLean that much is certain. He was offered a pay cut. I am sure Ratten got in his ear after it became public knowledge in the footy community.
-
Agreed with the Johnstone trade and agreed with the Woewodin trade. This one is a little different. In the cold light of day I think we could do OK out of this trade but it just means some more short term pain. Wait and see approach required. In saying all that, McLean has given his all and given us some pretty good memories for a short career. F### the Blues!

Support the jumper. Support the club. Support the blokes wearing the jumper. Stuff the rest!

Just received an email from a mate who is reasonably well connected in all things footy and he says that Scully could play this week but the coaching/medical staff have advised him against it to ensure he is up and about for next season. It is only 'ScullyButt' but I have taken it as gospel until I hear something concrete.

Whack! 100% Correct..
-
A future star. No doubt about it. The plan is for him to add some much needed strength and weight this off season which will see him become even more versatile. A Bluey in 2010? Only Sylvia has more momentum heading into next season.
-
Buckley Bartram McLean Miller Johnson (not entirely sure about this one) Sylvia Cheney McNamara Davey Jamar Rookies: Spencer Valenti Zomer Maric recently re-signed for 2 more and Jurrah received a standard 2 year deal I believe.
-
Sylvia would be the other. But I think he will sign soon.

I could never understand why so many MFC supporters didn't like this guy. Watched him closely during his 1st preseason and I compared him to a young Scarlett with his closing speed and willingness to push forward and break lines. His kicking skills still require a little polish but he understands the game well and is 100% team orientated. One of my absolute favourites. Still heaps of scope for improvement in him and I want to see him mentioned as a potential All-Australian next year. Could see him averaging over 20 possessions from FB/CHB.
-
I hope not. A quick skim of our list reveals the following players that I think will not help us win a flag: Bartram Miller Johnson Dunn Bell Newton Bail Zomer* Valenti* Hughes* Players like Buckley, Watts, Maric, Meesen, McNamara, Spencer, Blease and Strauss have either shown glimpses at senior level or were highly rated coming into the draft. People might think I am harsh on Bail but I have watched him train and play and I am yet to see why he was even drafted. I have not added players like McDonald and Bruce etc because ability to play senior footy isn't their problem, age is. Plus, they may still be around in September 2011......

Pick 1 Should be our #1 mid within 2-3 seasons Pick 2 Should be the equal of Pick 1 over the same duration Jack Watts An A grade tall forward is priority #1 Liam Jurrah X-Factor wins finals Jack Grimes Future Captain? Future All-Australian at least James Frawley Has Scarlett like abilities and will be the lynch pin of defence Cale Morton Versatile and skilled. A match up nightmare. That's 7 but I can't split them.

He is actually not a bad kick at all. His biggest problem can be cured with experience. He tends to play too 'fast' and runs himself into trouble and rushes his disposal as a result. Once he learns that he has the pace to break away and then steady he will become a better player and will find a role in the senior side. I also think that players of his size, speed and power do not grow on trees and he should be persisted with.
