  1. I don't care where he plays. get him in the team. In the backline he would join Peterd as the only vocal leaders of that rabble. To me that was a huge disappointment, no leadership at all in the back half. Very early on most of the backline started lookinh out for numero uno. Dunn as a half forward would have being useful yesterday. He has the tank and the drive to present and give the 2nd efforts that were required yesterday. Newton looks like a deep forward only at this stage.

    Davey

Our lack of speed is a little overstated. Our inability to get first hands on the ball and gut run are much bigger concerns. We have some players who dont know how to push themselves. Davey looked awful. Unrecognisable.
  3. I heard that Buckley is in doubt. so add Bode or Weetra
  4. Throwing the kids down back could work. It depends on the supply through the midfield. If our midfield plays like 2007 the kids will be smashed. I would suggest anybody mentioning Garland are living a fantasy. Rivers in 2003 and Frawley in 2007 showed more in their brief forays into the AFL and VFL than he did. He needs to learn how to play, his footy background is pretty limited and it shows at times. Play some senior footy in 08 and build for 09. Frawley isnt even a good ordinary player at present. He is very average, but he is extremely quick, has a body that has more development left in it, great hands in close and loves to take on his man and use his pace going forward. His only weakness is his awful kicking technique, otherwise all the tools are there for something pretty good. Its up to him and the coach to make it happen. My hope is for a Darren Glass type full back but with more running. Carroll needs to leave. He is a flawed fullback. He has no touch with his foot skills, makes terrible decisions, gets turned inside out with ease and generally makes plenty of errors. Add to that his off field issues and we have a player who should be playing either state league or suburban footy.
  5. yeah, like the old training jumper. as for the need to change the jumper, doesnt it depend on who designed it? if Asics designed we may need a change.
  6. why couldnt we have a red jumper with blue trim with the letters MFC in blue intertwined as they used to be back in the day on the front, a bit like the carlton jumper. it should avoid the 2 clash's we have with essendon and carlton. on the back above the numbers you could have an MelbourneFC 150 logo or something... at least it has a bit of heritage about it. or invert the colours as another poster has done above. im not keen on the club bending too much.
  7. i would be shattered if we to McEvoy. he isnt an AFL KPP. he hasnt the speed and agility to translate his game as a junior into a senior player. He looks to ha ve great hands etc but his speed and mobility is a huge concern. As i see it there isnt a KPP of worth at 4. I hope CAC sees it my way. will be happy with any of the utility/mids around at 4.
  8. next year will be my 12 consectutive year of Redlegs membership and my household havent received an issue since the end of 2005. before that we got only random deliveries....
  9. i assume we need a new clash strip due to our new clothing sponsor anyway. ditch the all red design with the old logo and try something fresh. perhaps they could widen the red yolk and make it go lower on the jumper. wth white shorts we should avoid a clash with essendon and carlton.
  10. the old logo meant nothing. it was neither strong nor inspiring with no links to our past. it doesnt even look like a demon. the new one should appeal due to the resemblence to the jumper.a jumper that was wornfor 12 premierships. its simple yet recognizable. im rapt to be rid of the old one.
  11. i wouldnt rest your case on those stats. the year you refer to was when the hawks played awful, indirect, ugly footy. Hodge, mitchell and crawf gathered a large percentage of their stats that year across half back. waxing the ball. they took overpossessing the footy to new heights.
  12. I was driving home from work today listening to SEN when it dawned on me that the MFC is a lot shiftier and smarter than I have ever given them credit for. I believe an agreement between Brett Ratten and the MFC was struck that would ensure that we have the 2nd pick in the draft and that Ratten will be a highly paid coach for the Blues. By agreeing to give Ratten a 2nd "interview" we have in fact driven up his value, given him leverage and put pressure on the blues to sign him to a bigger deal. The kicker for us is that Ratten will ensure that Carlton wins at least one more game (most likely against us) giving us the 2nd pick. That leaves us in the incapable hands of the Tigers, which as we all know means that Krueser (sp?) will be available at 2. Everyone's a winner......
  13. let him rot. Just writing his name makes my blood boil. He let us down massively when he was playing for Sandy trying to get in shape when he should have been playing senior footy. Our list was decimated by injuries and there was Byron, fat and uninspired floating around at Sandy. Play him as an absolute last resort after the likes of Buckley and Petterd have had their fill of senior footy.
  14. I liked that Danners told him that he had to become harder and work on his 1 %ers. They were easily his biggest failings. I thought it was important to note that 07 was his 1st injury free preseason. A decent interview requires competency from both the interviewer and interviewee, we certainly didnt get that so I will let Michael off the hook.

    Round 1 Team

It will look like this: F: Davey Neitz Robertson HF: Bruce, Miller C Johnson C: Johnstone McDonald Green HB:Bell Rivers Ferguson B: Whelan Carroll Ward R: White McLean Jones IC: Jamar Yze Molone, Bate Ferguson gets the gig as 3rd tall defender over Holland Yze beats out Pickett Bate is a speculative selection in my eyes. Coaching staff want Moloney in!
  16. could only watch it for 10 minutes. the footy was pretty average but the broadcast was amatuerish and lacking polish. Channel 7 need to understand that they are there to enhance the product as well as broadcast it to the masses. something they didnt do in their previous stint either.....
  17. Warnock... cannot for the life of me remember who he was on. Just remember him getting beaten regularly.
  18. i think in a straight line PJ is quick. He isnt particularly agile nor is his vertical very impressive. Neaves seems to have a nicer combination of those three physical traits.
  19. I also watched the game. I really only followed the progress of our younger players. Buckley looked good. Tougher over the ball than I remember last year. He's quick and powerful, just needs to learn to find the footy in space to utilise his lovely kicking and speed. The tight contested game style the other day didnt really suit him. Im of the opinion that the higher level of play in the AFL seniors may suit him best. Would be perfect for the Doggies. Jones ran with McLean and shaded him in my eyes. Clean in the contests, attacked the footy with venom and ran hard to get to multiple contests. His kicking was pretty good and his decision making was usually spot on. He looked lean for someone of his build meaning that the nickname chunky can still be applied. McLean was good. Great vision a couple of times and managed to find space a few times to set up forward thrusts. The most vocal player on the field. He looks in incredible shape. His workrate is sickening to watch. Miller looked great in the warmup but didnt impact much in the game. If he got the ball handballed to him he panicked. he needs to simplify his game a bit. There is too much going on in his head. Frawley......... the most excited I have being about a 1st year player in a long time. For the 10 minutes he played he looked composed, agile, smart and ridiculously fast for a 192cm player. His run down the wing was....... brilliant. If he can have the same attitude in the big stuff then he will eventually be a valuable contributor to our side. His conesting skills were surprisingly good. PJ. cant ruck. end of story. As a forward he looks nice on the lead but looked lost once the ball was on the deck. I still dont know where he fits. Col signs a mean autograph and stretches like a champ. Dunn moved around beautifully. Looks thicker in the legs but no where else. I thought he beat Bell and looks very confident. He is a player that we need to keep in the side, he showed that touch of class that we lack in some of our talls. Pettard took a nice high mark and showed poise, some pace and a nice kick. I think he has a bit of an xfactor that players like Bell seem to be lacking. He will play this year. Chris Johnson was very classy. Directed traffic and was generally very vocal. Kicking is nice and he looks to have gained a yard in pace. The kid just knows how to play (my favorite trait). Looks set for a big year. Garland needs to fill out and learn a position. He showed nice athleticsim at times but was really a total non factor. Doesnt look 192cm, looks or at least plays shorter. Bell.... same ol story. some strong defensive plays mixed with mental errors. He is a lovely kick at times. Moloney was great. He had a few runs, kicked with great penetration and looked generally menacing around the packs. Has lost some weight and looks very good. He looked pretty hungry on the field and really got back to being the 90m player that he was in 05. Neville played..... never seen him play before. cant say i remember him doing much. he is skinny still. Riv. The best tall defender by a suburb or 2. his disposal was great and i cant remember him being outmarked. ALways brought the ball to ground if he couldnt mark it himself. I dont think he likes the new in the back rule. Weetra. He is fast. Skills are ok. Looked comfortable on the field. Newton.... got an awesome spray from Greeny for kickign for goal from a ridiculous position. He is like the kid at school who takes awesome pack marks in kick to kick and drills bananas for goals from the boundary only to come up empty in a game situation. If he new how to play he would be lethal. I dont think he does though. Warnock.... beaten by all of his opponents. Neaves. looked big and strong but still athletic. Def more athletic than PJ or Jamar. smarter than both as well. i thought he moved very well and looks to have made a few steps forward this offseason. Others to be noticed: Ward. Same ol story....... runs sideways, loses his opponent, terrible disposal and tries very hard.... Bizz. will have the same problems he had last year. too slow and teams wont allow him the freedom ha had today in accumalating possessions. White. Still not a forward. Robbo. Has lost weight it seems. mostly from his rump. moved very well. Whelan> best small defender by a looooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggggggggg way.
  20. Rampaging, it was certainly rumoured as a reason for his release by Hawthorn. I must admit im a little dubious about his ability to keep players on the park.
  21. He will stay. he's tall, athletic and can take a mark. he was a bottom aged recruit as well which should allow him more time on the MFC list due to the "big guys take longer to develop" theory.
  22. OK, youre credibility has taken a hit with this comment. We wont trade him unless he asks or unless it involves a marquee player. (not Akermanis) Doh! Another hit to your credibility. As mentioned, NO ONE IS STUPID ENOUGH TO TRADE FOR BIZZ! Ouch!!!! Again! These statements re Buckley and Neville are utterly laughable. The peacock feather in your cap. 2 terrible teams loading up with youth and draft picks would send a pick to us for Nicho??? Your credibility regarding where our list is at resides somewhere in Werribee being processed into garden water.
