You've lost me. He speaks well in the media, is obviously courageous (goes back with the flight almost every game). Does not tend to fade under pressure. Talks up the players on the field. I'm genuinely interested in what I'm seeing (or not seeing). What do you want him to do? Now having said that. Who is your viable alternative and how are they a better leader?

Is there a ready made Hale type out there..in other comps?
mordja replied to beelzebub's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting opinion given that PJ was not played in rounds 21 or 22 and only played 8 games for the year. I would have been happy to give Hale a run over PJ given that Hale can take a grab up forward and doesnt look as lost below his waist as PJ does. We lack height and size, we must/will improve here. I dont blame the FD for trying to improve that through Hale. -
IMO Green is the only real choice, consistent performer last year, leads by example and is courageous. Davey goes hot and cold, Moloney needs to get himself on the field before he worries about captaincy (albeit i think he is capable), Grimes hasnt played enough games nor has he had consistent enough form, Chip isnt ready, nor do fullbacks often get the gig. Green deserves the role but its nice that we have a few eligible candidates.

got a link there?

No point culling off half the posters.....

Mitch would be a great fit, 12 + 31 makes a lot of sense. Voss would have to consider that, I wouldnt have thought, and we need the tall. if you try to compare Hale + 17 for 12 + 31 against Clarke for 12 + 31 , the latter appears far more preferable. That said Clarke may not want to move and Voss would be reluctant (one would think) to hang players out to dry after last year....

SEN twitter indicates Miller may go to the Suns. Best of luck to him. Imagine it would be a fairly easy decision for them. Relatively cheap, give him a couple of years. They should hang about a bit, they can have Newton as well.

Too old for Bailey's recruitment mandate isnt he?

Who will take the reins from Junior..?
mordja replied to demondomination's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'll go heave if Bruce gets it. Green Davey or Moloney are the only acceptable options. -
James McDonald - Retirement Announcement

Well done Junior, admirable timing. -
Longest paragraph ever.... Like the similarity though.

Agree on Maric. I saw the scorps game Adam was the standout of the AFL players for mine.

Grimes in tracksuit, definitely favouring a leg. Big turn out of players. Trenners, chip, petterd, judy, spence, tapscott, gawn and mckenzie. Plus coach and tim Harrington If of interest spoke to garland who said Bruce will go to hodge and gawn said his knee will be fine, pulled up well
-
Dont see how the two are mutually exclusive.

Thanks for the report, great work. Any more on Grimes? Was it just the kick to kick? Did he complete anything else? Cheers

Interesting observation re Jack. I was at the CEO's breakfast and BP and Cam Schwab recently. I brought up Jack as part of the conversation talking about GWS / GC and ways around drafting concessions and namely the father son. BP talked him up a storm then Cam spoke about the way Todd sees it. Cam openly said that he is great mates with Todd (memory fails me but he could have actually said best mates ...anyway), he talked about how when Todd was drafted Sheedy cruised into his place and just expected Todd to go, but his folks were more interested in a club that would look after Todd and in the end he ended up at the Dees. Todd has the same expectation for Jack, he wants the club going in the right direction and looking out for the kids. Cam stopped short of saying that he was a cert to be at MFC but that he "would be surprised if he didnt". Cam was also proud as punch of the new facilities, which i could tell he thought would help in attracting that sort of attention re club preferences. Thought that may be of interest to some.

McKenzie got smashed twice in the 1st (?) quarter about 10 minutes apart, both times head down going for the ball, both time met hard and never shirked. great to see.

This post made me shudder....I hope like hell we dont have room on our list for a Walsh or Ward. Brown was a very very committed footballer but I would hope he wouldnt have got a game in the current side.

I think the boys would take a lot from a win over there, but i dont think that a win is highly important. Overall team improvement (as has always been put forward) and individual development (not looking at you here at all Mr Watts) is what Id like to see. I dont think Bails would place any more importance on this game, or at least I havent heard it said yet.

If I start smoking crack will some of these threads make more sense? Nothing there.
-
I cant bring myself to even make a bad joke out of it, which muppet from the media put Beamer as a collingwood player?
-
Happy to stand corrected here , but did anyone catch Bails on the panel of one of the sunday AFL programs? (sunday footy show? with Brayshaw?) where he commented that he could see chip and garland both having a crack at pinch hitting in the forward line if structures for certain games allowed it? Obviously it doesnt seem so wild an idea to him. I agree that he never implied they would play as fulltime forwards, but he certainly didnt rule out the idea of testing it out as the opportunities arose...

Holy sh!t, a balanced and informed view from a Collingwood supporter. Top work Dave, much appreciated and found very little that I didnt agree with. Cheers
