Realistically, do we have the pieces to trade for another top 10 pick?
praha replied to Yze_Magic's topic in Melbourne Demons
I'd trade Bruce and Newton for a top 10 and top 20 pick. -
He's a poor mans Brock. He'll be the next Macca. Not the best, skill wise, but always on the bottom of packs and always leading on the field.

Let's not go too far....

I always thought, and still do, that he's a pretty boy. But he's been, very, VERY loyal and would have been one of the greatest had his team been successful. I like him. I've always had a quiet likeness for him. It's good that he's having such a good year. He's not arrogant and hates losing. He's very emotional and I like that.

Brad Green >>>> Cameron Bruce. Bruce hides when the cub is struggling. I'd rather a player shine when a club needs them and be a quiet achiever when they're succeeding, except the other way around. God Bruce is overrated.

I've developed a mindset now that no one is our friend, not even the Melbourne clubs. If one club folds/relocates and it's not Melbourne, I'm happy. For every year that a Melbourne club doesn't die, MFC comes a step closer to being that club. I wanted North to head North purely because that would have decreased the chance of the AFL allowing Melbourne to die.

That's what I'm afraid of. Lamb had a break out year in 2002 and people were saying he would be our backline general. Delisted a year later.

Before everyone get's stuck into Cale Morton?

Ban him admins. -
He looks too much like Chris Lamb. I'll wait to see how he goes next year to give my judgment.

No player who weighs the average weight of a 10 year old can be constructive in the AFL. Put him on a diet of Chicken and Beef for 6 months, breakfast lunch and dinner, lock him in a weight room and then put him on the field. -
6. Sylvia 5. White 4. Morton 3. C. Johnson 2. Jr. 1. Neitz

It's funny how we can almost get 30,000 without a pledge drive, yet the Roos get 30,000, half of which probably aren't even Kangaroos supporters. I can't wait to see how many they get next year.

From the Monopoly website: Parker Brothers today announced an agreement between the Collingwood Football Club and the Carlton Football Club, both of the Australian Football League (AFL) to reward the winner of this weekends game between the two teams with their very own version of the world famous Monopoly board game. Toby Whitecorn from Parker Brothers had this to say. "We're very pleased with this agreement as it will allow two of the greatest, most successful and most supported clubs in the AFL to have their very own version of the greatest board game on Earth in Monopoly." When asked who he wanted to win, Whitecorn answered without hesitation. "No doubt Collingwood. I'm not a Pies fan at all, but I feel sorry for the supporters. Ultimately, if they win, this Monopoly board game will be the closest thing most Collingwood supporters will have to ever owning real estate."

While I feel the passion is back, something troubled me last night...

I can hook you up with someone who sells chill pills at $30 a gram. -
Jimmy was on The Footy Show last night and was interview by Hutchy. It was an entertaining interview even though Jimmy didn't give away too much, but something made me think. Hutchy asked something in the vacinity of, "Will the Melbourne Football Club remain in Melbourne forever." Jimmy hesitated (or pondered, if you will), and then responded with (along the lines of), "As long as I'm here it will." That might not sound all that bad, but I compared that answer with an answer Brawshaw gave last year to a similar question. He said, "North Melbourne will always be North Melbourne." Him and his board were so confident that North could get out of its hole and it has (so far). It was like as if they were certain. I'm sure that anyone who heard the response last night may think the same. I have no doubt Jimmy is confident that Melbourne will get out of its troubles and remain in Melbourne, but I definetly felt angst in his response. Personally, I think the situation is far worse then we think and Jimmy himself has recognised how hard it's going to be. I think we're in a real hole and we're hardly out of the woods. Jimmy has the heart and skill to fix us, but that doesn't necessarily mean he will. I have this sad feeling in me that Jimmy has glanced over this club, or heard through the grape vine, and seen how bad and on the brink we are, and I think this had to do with him hitting the wall and being so emotional at the press conference. I really, really think we're in trouble. I'm not being critical or pointing figures, but I think there is a far steeper mountain to climb then a lot of us think. I sincerely believe we are on the brink of collapse.

Our backline is doing fine considering the pressure they got bombarded with in the first 5 or so rounds. I think they are standing up well and improving every week. The clangers have a lot to do with not having anything to kick upfield too.

Finally...some passion. I've never seen a man cry over a football club. He was on the verge. For anyone who missed it, they showed a snippit on the footy show. Stynes: "I want my son..." silence for a good 10-15 seconds... "...to be able to watch his favourite Melbourne players alongside his sons" (teary eyes, husky voice).

We were on top after 18 rounds in 2004.

Johnson has been in the best at Sandy many times, but fails at AFL level. He is a top-tier VFL player and that's all. De-listed at years end.

I hate you Ricky Bobby....

You may as well count all of the former players years as actual players. You'll discover that their time at the club probably surpasses the people who are currently on the board. -
The best footy we've seen from Melbourne this year is reminiscent of the footy Port played in 2002-2004. The worst footy is reminiscent of Fitzroy in 1996. On one end, you've got a coach who knows a good gameplan, but atm can't get consistency from a young team. A better rating of his ability as coach can be given this time next year IMO.

Our two best games this year have come after out-side motivation. Unless we can play well without needing a retirement, big occassion or event to get us up, I'm going to totally agree with Malthouse. Even though he is an arrogant little man.
