  1. That is absolutely sensational. I can't believe no one else has commented on this. Sent chills down my spine, and I am not easily swayed. Great watch and listen. Thank you for that.
  2. I wouldn't be surprised if they make the top 8 to be honest. They will have a very solid team, and because it's been built right from the ground up, they're able to plan out their players and gameplan a lot more fittingly according to their list. They can have real depth if they play their cards right, and already have a few solid veterans that would all be in the top 22 of any team in the league. They will go undefeated in the near future. By around 2015-2017, we will start to see something super from that team.
  3. lol Geelong is going to get a late 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder for Ablett. What a joke.
  4. To think that image is a place in Australia. Very sad. Hope it gets sorted our quickly.
  5. Does anyone really care? He is not longer a Melbourne player, and the team obviously didn't want to risk signing him and not being able to find a trade, so they delisted. Couldn't care where he ends up.
  6. Yay! One kid is on board. We now own the AFL!
  7. Dean Cox.
  8. He is 30 years old with baggage. Maybe if we were pushing for a flag next season. So no.
  9. Hodge!?!?? Surely a joke?
  10. Now is perfect time for a big trade. Teams like Brisbane, West Coast, Essendon will be willing to trade quality players for draft picks. I say we throw some picks and a ready-made player (Jones, Bruce?) at the Eagles for Cox. I honestly believe one of the reasons Junior didn't continue on was because the club wanted to make extra room in the cap, not only to sign the younger players, but to have enough room for a big trade. Someone moves up to the veterans list (is it Bruce or Green?), you trade a young player, and get an experienced player in the process.
  11. Melb v Geelong only go 60,000 or so back in 2005. Also, our game against the Saints in 2006 got a similar crowd. Our crowd against Essendon in 2004 was also similar. Not sure what your point is. Even in finals, only teams like Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon etc. would expect crowds higher than 70,000.
  12. So you want to trade a ruckman who has finally reach his potentially? Fail thread.
  13. If North is going anywhere next year, it's down. Can't see them improving that much. I expect them to be around the same spot as this year.
  14. Neale Daniher. I'll never forget that first game against St. Kilda. We looked like a team just going through the same paces over and over again with no plan B. Saints looked like they were on a mission. That game defined Daniher as a coach; was never willing to take the risk needed to go that extra step.
  15. I noticed Watts on his own quite a lot on the weekend, and every single time I thought to myself, "Why is Watts calling for the ball there?" He doesn't position himself well enough, and quite often finds himself under the ball. They're not ignoring him, they're just looking for a better option.
  16. Both had injuries and lack match fitness. Moloney was poor yesterday, but no one is jumping on his back? You're basing performance on the last game of the season, which was essentially worthless. Give them a pre-season to prove their worth.
  17. ND biggest problem is his inability to make the tough decision. He isn't anywhere near aggressive enough on the players that don't perform. When you're like that, you can struggle to get the best out of players, which he did (see Brad Green).
  18. Cox and Rischitelli in trade week? Yes please.
  19. This thread (and Melbourne fans in general) make me laugh. We're not a finals team atm, and we've won 8 games (which is what many expected) and could very well be on 10 or 11 wins just as easily. The gameplan is fine. It's a matter of executing the gameplan, which comes with experience. You don't implement plan b if you're still trying to learn plan a.
  20. Sounds like a great goal. Can't see it
  21. Does anyone have an online feed of the game? Don't have Foxtel
  22. A Carlton supporter said to me on Friday night that Melbourne supporters are probably the most realistic that he knows. We know when we're going to lose, and we know when we're going to win, and we're honest about our team in a way that no other fans are. Other team supporters call that fickle, but I think it leads to less of a disappointment when things don't quite go our way. Bulldogs fans are similar. Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood fans cry and winge more than anyone. As with any sporting club, you're always going to see a drop-off in attendance, and that includes with Collingwood. They'd have had 30,000 there last night as opposed to 50,000 had they been last instead of 1st. Still a great crowd, but not as big as it could be. The thing with Melbourne is that much of our supporter base is based in Melbourne, whereas other clubs have a very broad supporter base. So when things do drop off and our attendances drop, we really have no excuse. I do honestly believe we have one of the smallest group of bandwagon supporters. Hawthorn and Sydney by FAR have the biggest bunch of bandwagon supporters, and I respect Collingwood and their fans (to be totally honest) - they're there win, lose or draw. Same with Richmond. Richmond need 2 or 3 good years playing finals football and they'll be up there with Collingwood. They've just spent way too much time in the basement for their fans to care. Essendon supporters can't handle losing, which is fair enough, because they've seen that success recent. We're pretty used to failure. So it's different for us. The demographic is completely different for every Melbourne team. In saying all of that, when we're up and flying, we're always in the top 5 or so for attendance. That's something teams like North, WB, St. Kilda, even Hawthorn, can't achieve, even when they're flying.
  23. Maybe would have been better to bump this crap thread when we're playing finals football?

    I'm worried

He is not David Neitz. We are more than capable of filling the void...if there is any. Great contributor and a fantastic club man, but I don't think he'll be missed much onfield or off. We have 4 or 5 players that can step in and contribute as a leader just as well as he did. My mind is on Beamer.
