Lost the plot now. 15 minutes of good football, then once Adelaide settle, the zone kills us...again.

We just continue to struggle like lost cattle when we play against a zone. North and West Coast are two games that come to mind. It's so obvious we struggle immensely against that type of defense. Why not counter it? Adelaide are playing that zone, and then their counter attack is KILLING us, straight down, 4-5 uncontested marks, for the goal. The zone KILLS us.

We're not this bad. We just don't know how to play AAMI. We are a MCG team and only a MCG team. I think we'll always struggle when we play interstate. It's just the Melbourne way. Had this game been in Melbourne, we'd have won (but we'd only be on 3 wins because the earlier game against Adelaide would have been at AAMI...)

I'm all for a conference system. Maybe not 3 tier, but definitely 2 tier. I think the current system is actually quite flawed in that it is just far too difficult to make an even draw right across the board. Take a look at the NBA. Two conference - west and east. Each team plays every team in their conference 3 or 4 times (depending on location. So Chicago play Milwaukee 4 times before they are close and in the same division), and they play each team in the other conference twice. My idea: Conference 1 North Carlton Collingwood St. Kilda Hawthorn Sydney West Sydney Gold Coast Brisbane Conference 2 Richmond Melbourne Essendon Bulldogs Geelong Adelaide Port Freo West Coast Each team plays their conference counterparts twice, and they play each team in the other conference once. No more than two games in a row at home, and no more than two games in a row away (away game. I don't mean interstate). Season is 24 rounds long, with 1 or 2 breaks, either 1 half-way, or 1 a quarter of the way, and another 3/4. Finals leave it as final 8. Or make it Final 10 with the finals an extra week. I know a lot of traditionalist/old people are against a change, but there's no way we can keep it the way it is considering the travel involved and the complex finals system (compared to other major leagues for example, which are knock out, with no second chances).

We do have a home ground. It's called the MCG.

The game has passed Bruce. He has been a club stalwart, but I definitely don't see any future for him beyond 2010 with the emergence of young players.

I think anyone who votes to keep it the way it is really knows nothing of the hardship and dedication of playing a game of football. I can assure you that every single one of the players yesterday would have loved an extra 10 minutes had they been given a chance. A draw might be OK for fans, but it's TERRIBLE for the players. It's nothing but an empty achievement, a feeling that everything over the past 2 hours was for nothing. Worse than a loss imo. Extra time.
