I'm fairly certain you *can* trade players that are in contract, but most contracts have a clause that the player needs to agree to the destination. Occasionally a fringe player wouldn't have this (say, a Terlich). I'm not sure it's a AFLPA issue. They'd fight to ensure the nature of the contract is honoured, not that the player is shifted somewhere they don't want to go.

One thing I've noticed this year: every time we've been rank outsiders, opposition team fans on BigFooty have called their game against Melbourne a "danger" game. Sydney, Adelaide, WC, Hawks (x2). We got close the first time. We can beat them.

You know what I mean I hope... I mean that Dawes hasn't really been giving us anything, so even if Weeds has a bad day out, at least he's got the experience. Having a Dawes in the team that does nothing isn't really help us in the long run.
-
I hope Hogan plays. At the end of the day I'd rather Hogan and Weeds have no impact than Hogan and Dawes.

Can confirm it was a third-party, not the club directly. Whether the club engaged them or not is unknown. Generally what happens is that when you input your details for a competition or whatever, these details can be easily accessed and/or sold off to the highest bidder. This is generally how telemarketers get your details.

He's got a little underbite, or is that just me?

Sam MaClure- "Hibberd to Melbourne, 4 year deal"
praha replied to Rod Grinter Riot Squad's topic in Melbourne Demons
On top of that, Essendon was a good team for long patches until the drug saga reeled its head. They were building towards something in 2012, 2013 when it all came crumbling down. Don't blame players for wanting to leave. -
They actually spoke about that after we beat Richmond and Collingwood. Caro on Footy Classified (take that as you will) said there were pretty harsh words and a lot of home truths thrown around after the Essendon loss. She said something like, "It really changed how they approach the opponent" or something along those lines. We definitely saw a swing in performance in the month after that. They responded well. If only we played a top 8 team aside from North in that period. They could have really proven themselves.

Hmm, he players taller than he is. At 84 games is another player we add to the pipeline in the 100-game mark. If we're not paying over he'd be a great addition. -
We did well against GWS and despite it being round 1 we managed to defend extremely well. They blitzed us on the transition but we held firm and kept at it. That's the difference between quick teams and inside teams: when the going gets tough and it's close, the inside mids tend to get on top (as ours did yesterday in the final 20 minutes). Our problem yesterday was that we kept playing directly into the hands of the GC, who spread quickly and always had 1-2 players behind the ball in our forward line. Play disciplined football and stay tight defensively and you can beat quick teams. IMO quick teams tend to have no plan B. It's run run run, but if it's a bog, they can't get the space and/or overrun the ball. That's when you beast them. Essendon beat us because they wanted it more. Saints beat us because we tried to play their fast game and simply couldn't. Must learn how to transition our game onto smaller pitches like Etihad.

I wonder if he'd be playing if Lumumba didn't go down? He is far better at than run and dash out of defense than H was, who had terrible peripheral awareness. Hunt seems to sense the opposition and gets the kick handball or kick off when someone's breathing down.
-
They are as beatable as they have been in the past ten years that we've played them. IMO if we are disciplined and tight defensively as we were yesterday, we can stay with them. For as "frustrating" as yesterday was to watch, it was hard-fought and the pressure was intense. We worked out backsides off and that is telling for a side that normally loses those games (and almost did). The short turnaround will be tough but Hawthorn are vulnerable. I don't mean to understate their greatness but they are beatable.

How did we play today? I saw a hard-fought win against a well-drilled and disciplined defensive display from GC. Good win. If we keep going to the well and defend as well as we did today, we're a chance.

It was a bad day for most talls. Hogan was having a good game until he banged his knee. Lynch was in and out. Day had a day out but so did Frost.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
praha replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
efa He gets super frustrated and his first reaction to not winning the ball in a one-on-one is look back up the field to his teammate and sat "wtf was that" with his body language. Did that 3 or 4 times today. He and Garlett have been very lazy lately. -
N.Jones - Just didn't lead Vince - Almost lost game Hogan - In bad form Watts - Never in doubt Petracca - Some scintillating touches Dawes - Finally taking marks Viney - Wasn't that helpful Brayshaw - Second year blues Gawn - Mids left hanging Tyson - Good yet not Stretch - Some nice touches Kent - In and Out Frost - Our best defender T.McDonald - Probably beat Lynch O.McDonald - Nice first half Garlett - Last quarter pressure vandenBerg - Kept in touch Jetta - Standard Jetta game Wagner - Did he play? Harmes - Not damaging enough M.Jones - Had his moments
-
That final kick was lazy, lazy, lazy. You could tell as soon as Lynch cut it off, Bernie was thinking, "WTF did I just do?" Almost cost us the win.

I've had time to cool down and think about it. 1. Both teams played extremely disciplined defensive games. 2. The pressure from both teams was immense. 3. GC played the game on their terms, and we played into it. 4. Our disposals were deplorable, but we never gave up. 5. Dawes, Vince, Jones and Garlett really let us down today. 6. We worked out butts off to win that game, and did, but the hard work was almost for nothing because of a Vince brainfade. I think the positive to come out of this is that we won that on the back of the young brigade. Petracca, Tyson, Hunt and Frost all lifted another gear in the last and kept us in it. Watts was a pest all day and may snag the three votes on the back of winning the game.

Top of the square you deadbeatz.

HUGE asterix next to Roos tenure. Can't get a full strength side to beat a team ravaged by injuries at the end of his third year. Major indictement on his time at the club. HUGE.
-
We won't win this. They'll break out hearts.
-
Handed them two goals on a silver platter.

Roos has been out coached again. They have 2 blokes standing behind the ball, alone.
