Not a single body on Stephenson. Jones avoided the space snd contest. He was free to go up for contest after contest. There is consistently space in front of him.
There is fundamental coaching and structural issues here. Surely you can all see it.
We are playing like we've already lost. It is heartbreaking.
Smashing them in clearances, contested and uncontested ball, and...turnovers.
We are playing in second gear and shockingly down on confidence.
There is a distinctive lack of confidence in the game plan.
Goodwin has until maybe round 8 next year to prove his worth. Can't see him lasting beyond that if things that drastically change.
Not really. We're winning most contests. the problem is we spud it up across half forward and gift them 2-3 easy marks and entry.
Just wait until Cox turns it up.
I can't tell if Oliver appearing in so many lists says more about him as a player or about the club that it has 4 year player in its best midfield of all time.
I think he was struggling early in the season. That we've played better football with a mounting injury list has probably improved his confidence. but he was undoubtedly struggling for answers early.
We can't build a home ground advantage there with only two games a year though against the same teams. Which is the double edged sword. We go there for money but sacrifice MCG home games. In the process the teams we play in NT have the same exposure us as because it's always the same teams. We can only really afford to play the SA and WA teams there because they will bring crowds. You can bet WC support will outnumber Melbourne support 3-1 when we play them there is round 18.
The club should at least ask the AFL to cycle opponents. One year we play Adelaide and WC, the next Port and Freo. Adelaide has played in Darwin 2 of the past 3 times we've played there.
Mcdonald needs to be played in Hogan's role. Push up the ground and win ball along the wing.
Play Weeds and Smith forward, alternate Oliver, Baker and Petracca through the forward line, have Hannan there as a permanent fixture. We badly need permanent small forwards though because Garlett is a skid row man's Betts and Spargo doesn't have it. Our forwards bring the ball down but we have minimal pressure there to win it when it hits the ground. We're tackling okay in the forward line but not actually winning the ball and keeping it there. Garlett is an opportunist and Spargo and hopeless. Saturday was an improvement though although Garlett got worse as the game progressed.
It's ridiculous. One posted in here said he "gave up the first goal" like as if we judge careers on a single turnover.
If anything what I like about the kid is he plays above his weight and experience. You'd think he had 100 games under his belt.
