  1. Within 3 Yrs time_ we will be behind Carlton's list, On-field. And on ladder... unless we get our act together now.... Re our shopping methods. Apart from Oli we have no Agrace mids With Brayshaw more B+... because of his kicking effectiveness. he is too wayward.
  2. https://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-10-18/bigname-deals-thin-out-2019-free-agency-list Freo : Stephen Hill GCS : David Swallow GWS : Stephen Coniglio Hawks : Liam shiels
  3. We should have extended Weide's contract early last year, when we first thought we would trade Hogan... But it hadn't been made known within the club. We could have added to his contract, once he started to play top level footy.
  4. We needed both players (Lever & May) urgently... no problem there from me. BUT the two first Rnd draft picks for Lever, was never OK, in my book. The May issue of coming in out of condition and unfit, has contributed to our downfall so far this year. I think He owes us supporters an apology, for has slack attitude. I am really disappointed with the opportunity we have given him and how he has so far re-payed us. The overpaying for Lever, I blame on Mahoney. he's blotted his copy book IMO.
  5. IMO, this is where we are missing Spargo, VDB & Hannan. Also a fit TMc, dropping back in. .
  6. Stop worrying about the bottom of ladder... its Rnd 3, we won't be there for long. Its where we finish the season, that's the key.
  7. thank- you dude
  8. You and DD would know then, that's why we recruited him. to prove how bad we are. Maybe you guys together could find a nice shiny sleek number down Sth Yarra somewhere, to sign up.
  9. Haha, OK, i'm over it oh swami. go on, off you toddle, to some other fantasy list then.
  10. So you disagree with Clarko's Hawks chasing him, since last year then I 'd like you to tell us what it is they're getting wrong 'DD' ?
  11. RFA at the end of 2020
  12. You cannot get everything shiny and new 'DD'. We would never be able to afford them all.
  13. What's all this, throwing the towel in carp ?
  14. No but Hawks are into him big time. Many clubs looked last time... but his contract dollars are apparently high... he's coming out of contract soon. Yes, 2x on one knee, last time the other knee... The idea is to not pay to highly. The man can play, established player, no development time, straight in to seniors. ready to go. Even IF he was with one expensive year left to honour in his contract... would be worth it on reduced coin, thereafter.
  15. ... bloody toilet cleaner ? ! Who is he/she ? ?
  16. Demoralising, it would have been.
  17. I'm not calling him Gary Ayers, you realise 'rj'. And I'm talking about trying it with Casey. It is worth a try, rjay... he only needs to kick to advantage, every time You need pinpoint kicks with zones... not as much with open spaces. Smaller grounds will make it a tougher ask. If the game opens up into one on ones, again, it can work.
  18. I think it could possibly work, with 666. tSmith playing a Gary Ayers type role... worth a try.
  19. People are seriously under-thinking and underestimating what it takes to change out our soft culture. It comes from cutting deep into much adored players, first up... then trying to replace them, with types who offer what it is we want to replace in that culture. Aggression and fight. Some grit and mongrel. Thats the basis for a competitive Club. Then build ontop of that, adding the skills, in layers. We have recovered very quickly from the time the AFL brought us PJ & Roosy in... and our recruiting has been a large part of this. Now we are all getting too impatient, And we all want every player and every happening, to be a linear progression.
  20. I think once we get the side back into form, that'll be the time for Sparrow to come back in for another crack. Too much for a kid to play in a team in shambles.
  21. Plenty of players who wern't brilliant kicks, played back in defence, in the 80's and 90's. As a defender, when looking to kick to a teammate in space on the wing, you only have to kick to advantage side of your teammate. IF that teammate is a god one on one player. It was clearing the footy from scoring range. This is when our on-ballers earn they're pay. Win the next contested stoppage and clearance. I think tSmith would surely be better than either Frost or OMc, as a defender . he is solid as Oak thru his trunk. He has a Very low centre of gravity and hold his feet. Has strong hands. The typical old fashioned 3rd tall defender. A little like Ayres was... maybe a hybrid between Ayers and Brett Lovett. This is what I'm visualising.
  22. This is why we are not making mass changes rapidly, IMO. Because we are yet to see the results on our game style, with out list intact. We aren't playing well, leaving open spaces all over the park. Having players hurt and not able to run hard, is hurting us. TMc, Viney, Jones. TMc playing deep, I think was a big mistake in all this. Setting us off, from the wrong foot.
  23. I wouldn't mind having Frost start on the HFF. I would want him to play as a Winger. But starting in the forwardline. He could replace TMc's run and marking thru the middle... with TMc sore. I want to see Lockhart and Salem start on the wings, so they can run forward or back, as the game flows. My reason is, they can push back to support the halfbacks... rather than Salem being fully responsible for his forward. So my back flankers would be kKolod & Hibberd, minding their men... I want Hibberd to be freer running with the ball, coming out of defence. Salem and Lockhart can give him/them cover, or bring the ball forward themselves... whichever is the best option at the time. All this would mean we need another CHB... IF TMc can't play back, then Petty would need to come in.
  24. Maybe its time to try tSmith, in the back-half ? Maybe, they don't want to get slaughtered in the senior team. tis almost understandable, 'Dkn'.
  25. we still need more of this... but in our skilled running brigade. (wayne schimmelbusch/bryan wood... compared to steven stretch) we don't need specialist small pocket players... we need genuine 'fleet on feet' rovers... who are comfortable under packs, and in front of the sticks. not your trumpet 'Rl'. But we may well be on our 6-th sounding trumpet. 666 is delivering space to play in... and from this is the need for man-on-man contested footy players. This is where our key-talls are struggling. OMc/Frost Building your list and culture, you have to start bare, and build the base first, with contested beasts, to set the tone into the culture... set it in stone. Then add the other parts, like your outside players, who have to also show, that contested, courageous play. Having this culture set in stone shows newbies what the standards are, to be expected.... so show the courage or fu@# off. no more gysberts mortons bennells etc Contested Beasts, does not mean Neanderthal in-under types...... It's an attitude, a brand you bring, and play by. The sort of players that Jeans/Sheedy loved. eg:- Antrobus, Clarko himself, Glenn Archer, Max Rooke, Wayne dominator Johnston, Wayne Harmes, Peter Daicos, Bruce Doull, Robert Flower.... not too many Neanderthals in there, I would think. But ALL contested Beasts. Every last one of them. None would not commit under fierce heat. This, is a contested-beast.
