WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BRAYDON PREUSS
DV8 replied to What's topic in Melbourne Demons
If some of our players are not getting suspended this year, we are playing too conservatively. We need to play ON that line. And take risks, and stand on some toes. Traditional Mfc teams are very proper. As Viney just said, we play better with some mongrel intent in our minds. -
It's a a Melbourne trait of recent decades, since the late 90's imo. We have never been a power marking club like the Hawks and Bombers. Probably closer to the Blues, in the way we traditionally play. Another thing I believe we lack, which I think goes hand in hand with the marking issue you've raised... is Body on Body. In my time, we've never been good at this either... And I believe both aspects are of the physical strength/aggression side of the game. Something we have never dominated in.

Dee Team : Off one knee_
-
If that's they're doing (FD department), his current weight/shape... they're wrong. Maybe It's something from Mr Misson ?
-
I used to be a big fan of Darcy, as a player, and on most things footy, But as he's aged, he's become a 'politically correct vanilla prune'. One who doesn't like the games aggression. I'm over him as well. Funnily I like BT's calling on most occasions, these days... since he's eezed off with the gee wiz's, etc... pulled his head in, just a little.
-
Your right, he does distract to his own preferences. What to do with Bruce Sit him on Sammy Newman's knee, and let him call the action.

great song 'rj'. Hopefully one-day... Christian could be great as well. He has set the tone for himself now that he can play to, without being In, or Out of form. Just that amount of effort in each game he plays. If he trained and played to that level, every training session, and every game, he would lose weight, and gain more muscle tone.

He doesn't have to lose much strength, by losing weight. He'll lose a little, not enough to mention... But he will gain much more... Re agility, speed to get back on feet, and off the mark speed, change of direction, not to mention the lesser loads on his joints and muscles, of his body. He is as heavy as Weideman, heavier than Frost, quite a bit heavier than VandenBerg. Heavier than tSmith, jSmith, Dec Keilty, Lever... and he is a Flanker/Mid. trying to be.
-
We have been for 4 years 'LH'. He doesn't need apologists. We haven't been asking for any more than 100% commitment. We haven't asked for him to star BOG', every week... or even one week. Just 100% effort to each contest... and to stay in the contest, even when the ball is out of his reach. Even when he overruns the contest, or the ball. get back at it. ... that is all we've been going on with... be competitive, all game.
-
Agree 'DZ'... that sling goal is one of those occasions when his size helped him maintain body posture for longer, until he got the ball away. But generally he can be a lot better for us, If he sheds 5 Kgs... he would be more active in all positions. Especially with our defensive aspects.
-
Agreed 'Hem', and Josh gives us more mobility than we've had down back, of late. We were better on our feet in defence last night... actually more mobile across the ground, generally.
-
A very even spread across the team... all contributed, some were more influential. 6/ Oliver 5/ Salem 4/ Gawn 3/ Jones 2/ Harmes 1/ Pettracca apologies to Hore, Melk, Brayshaw, Hunt, Frost ...
-
Yes... exactly.
-
He has been slaughtered in the first few weeks by our useless delivery, going inside F50... and also TMc's poor showings. Preuss took some of the heat off Weide and TMc tonight... and Gawn as well. This imo showed, and helped all of them.
-
i hope not. May wasn't ready for his first game in rednblue, and he wasn't ready for the Cats game. He sure as hell won't be ready for next week... unless they want him injured, again.
-
That attitude is the base, he has to start from every week. That attitude will bring him results week in, week out..... because it will take him to the contests.... and it will bring the ball in his direction.
-
His confidence will grow. And composure as well. I highlighted that, because we need the whole team to take more marks. Especially Maxy thru the middle. https://finalsiren.com/MatchDetails.asp?GameID=8102&Code=a62b4fef06258de3a53d5736b740c26f&Sort=Marks Desc .

Nope. we don't need one of them..................... we need a team like that. Our team came out with aggression tonight and we carried it forward. One player does not make a 'Diamond' Jim, 'Udtrrd'.

Marty Hore 9 Marks.

7 over 10, that's OK. But that's the level of Effort he has to bring... every single week at half forward. Its not about the stats... its about staying in the contest... all game, every game. His stats today were really good... but that's what comes from bloody hard work. And this is what I'm wanting to see from him.... And to lose 5 Kgs. So he can remain in the games for longer periods. and not be so costly to us, when he out of the action so often.

Hore very good. helped us settle.
