  1. Type the article title into google to get around it.
  2. Very good article. Conveniently written the week we're playing Port, the old pump up our tires and then watch us self deflate trick. Lets not fall for that and smash Port this weekend!
  3. Fair to say this was a troll post for a laugh. I hope so anyway....
  4. I haven't seen him do it, but this is from the Western Australian on draft night: 5.50pm PICKS 46-50 PICK 46: MELBOURNE LIAM HULETT Dandenong Stingrays 17/3/97, 193cm, 90kg AFL says: A 193cm utility whose top-up year in the TAC Cup was cruelled by an ankle injury that restricted him to just two outings for the Dandenong Stingrays this year. He played mainly for his local club at Bonbeach, but the recruiters were intrigued enough to ask that he play in the Young Guns game last August. Usually a ruck/forward, he played at centre half-back and showed promise running the ball out of the backline. https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/afl/a/30182846/draft-2015-what-you-need-to-know/
  5. Australian test squad for Sri Lanka announced. http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-australia-2016/content/story/1018833.html I feel like I'm saying this every time, but it really gets to me the armchair ride some NSW players seem to get with selection over the Victorian guys! How Henriques is selected over Stoinis and how O'Keefe is selected over Fawad Ahmed or John Holland is so so farcical I don't know what more needs to be said or done. Henriques (older then Stoinis) has a batting average of 31.91 as compared to Stoinis's 39.05. Henriques does have a betetr bowling average of 30.18 compared to 53.42, but 98 wickets in 62 First Class matches is hardly the figures of someone you expect to bowl you to victory. Stoinis has 21 wickets in 33 matches, so 77 wickets in his next 29 matches (less then 3 a match) is more then achievable for Stoinis to show his bowling is equally as good as Henriques. As for O'Keefe, I don't get what the selectors see in him. He's just a conservative straight arm darter that doesn't threaten the batsmen. He took 17 wickets in 6 first class matches last season @ 24.64 which is impressive for an average, but only because he doesn't go for many runs as he doesn't bowl a lot of hit me balls. Fawad on the other hand was brought up on sub continent pitches, so I would have thought would have been an ideal second spinner to pick. Or if you wanted to go with a left arm spinner, how about John Holland who's been held back by constant injuries over the years. Finally got a couple of games late last season and took 14 wickets in 2 matches @ 20.92 and is still in his mid 20's as opposed to O'Keefe & Fawad who are in their 30's. If it were me, I'd of gone with Stoinis & Holland over Henriques & O'Keefe, but then obviously I'm biased as I actually have some Victorians in my squad. And while I'm at it I'd of had Handscomb in ahead of Shaun Marsh as the reserve batsman also, as if Neville gets injured the morning of a test, I don't know who's going to keep?
  6. Hope he stays, but it's frustrating to hear that he's allegedly dragging his feet. If he were to walkit opens up a spot down back for Frost or Oscar and I still hope we can land one of Hurley, Mitch or Nathan Brown in the off season to set us up down back.
  7. Doesn't sound like the words of someone who's leaving.
  8. You say you wouldn't pay overs, but then offer up several scenarios that are all massive overs! Even if he were a DFA, he doesn't fit the no d*ck head policy of our club. Not a guy of good character. PASS.
  9. We're a key defender short as it is. So the answer is no.
  10. And to think, for something that was only 5 & a half years ago, the only players from our 22 that day still on the list are Jones, Watts, Dunn & Garland.
  11. Rotating between half back & wing yes, but ideally not not half back at the same time. Would want a Vince or Jetta alongside them at all times. And as I said, would rather Salem or Brayshaw in the side first, but we just don't know where they're at. If Mitch White were to get promoted off the rookie list however, I'd be very happy to see him at half back.
  12. Given the news about Salem, I would have said Brayshaw to half back, but we don't know how long he'll miss either. Would love to say Vandenberg or Kennedy into my 22, but given Salem mainly plays across half back I'd have to give the nod to H assuming he's over his issues.
  13. Difficult to say really. But I'm going with FB: Wagner, TBA*, Jetta HB: Vince, T. McDonald, Hunt C: Bugg, N. Jones, Tyson HF: Harmes, Hogan, Kent FF: Watts, Dawes, Garlett FOLL: Gawn, Oliver, Viney INT: Petracca, Salem, Stretch, Trengove * One of Dunn, Frost, Garland or Oscar to try and secure EMERG: Brayshaw, Kennedy, Pedersen Meaning running around out at Casey would be a team that could look like FB: Three of the * four HB: Lumumba, White, Terlich C: M. Jones, Michie, Grimes HF: Vandenberg, Weideman, Kennedy FF: Hulett, Max King, Kennedy-Harris FOLL: Spencer, Brayshaw, Neal-Bullen INT: Newton, Pedersen, Smith Mitch King & Melksham gone for the year.
  14. Noticed Dunstall said after the match in commentary that he doesn't think Hogan is going anywhere.
  15. Remember Chip Frawley getting tore to shreds by Corey Jones from North in one of his early games. This thread is ridiculous!
  16. Reckon if he wants to play seniors he'll have to ruck and i suspect we'll see that next week. On a side note, i had an egg & bacon roll last night and it was as sensational as always. Helps keep one warm on a night like last night.
  17. It was a heart stopper and a real grind. But tonight was a great win for Casey against last years runners up when at different times it looked like Box Hill may run away with it. Here's how the players went from my view point; Christian Salem: Thought he was good without being great. Played as a genuine mid, so was good to see him get that opportunity and he got a fair bit of the ball, although wasn't as clean i would have expected. One really good thing to see though was at the start of the last term when it was a 1 point ball game and in the balance, Salem got the first two clearances of the quarter. Sign of a player who stands up when needed. Chris Dawes: Kicked 3 and thought he was good. Would have loved to see him take a few more contested grabs, though it wasn't really the night for that. Did a lot of tough bullocking work, chasing and tackling and set a few other goals up. Pedersen picked a bad week to miss ill as i think we may see Dawes back next week. Jack Trengove: Another solid game for Trenners. The vast majority of his work was done in close where his hands were very good. I'd expect he'll be putting his hand up to play sooner or later. Sam Frost: I'm just going to say it. He's a defender, and quite a good one at that. P,ayed well tonight i thought. Spoilt really well and on a couple of occasions used his speed to burn off his opponent and set up some rebound from our back line. Would have to be an outside chance to come in next week for a good match up on Westhoff. Sam Weideman: Like Paul Keating's 'The recession we had to have' this was the game The Weed had to have given how well he's started his debut VFL year. Not the night for tall forwards and he really struggled to get into the game. Kept trying but just didn't happen. Nearly took a nice mark in front of goals late in the match to seal the game, however double grabbed at it and was spoilt. Reckon he'll learn a lot from tonight. Liam Hulett: Like Weideman, struggled to have a huge influence, but didn't find the going as tough as The Weed. Competed well and was tough at the contest. Was reported in the 2nd term for what was nothing more then a shove and had his free kick for holding the ball reversed (it will get thrown out). Kicked a beautiful snap in the 2nd term, yet missed a sitter in the 3rd, so should of had 2. Jack Grimes: Thought it was an odd game. Didn't even spot him for a good 20min into the game and barely noticed him. He then seemed to be in everything in the 2nd quarter and i thought was the driving force behind their great play. It was arguably the best quarter i've seen him play. He created a lot of run and used the ball well. He was then solid in the 2nd half i thought so a valuable contributor. Jake Spencer: I thought he rucked really well while getting no help from tbe umpires for several ruck infringements that were never called. He did a bit around the ground also which was nice to see. His solid form is pleasing given our lack of ruck depth. Aaron Vandenberg: Was obviously on reduced minutes given it was his first game back. Noticed him involved in a few physical scuffles which we always love to see him in, however i didn't reallly notice him have that big an impact on the game. Will need a few more weeks. Mitch White: Another good game for Mitch at this level. What stood out for me with White was how clean he seemed to be with possession and his use of the ball off his right foot as well as his left. Did notice on at least 2 occasions he misjudged the flight of the ball in marking contests which could be a concern. Otherwise i thought he was very good. Joel Smith: For me it was the best game i've seen Joel play. What really stood out was his athleticism and ability to run and jump. Like White i though he was very clean with his possession and he helped create a few goals. We may have found something here. Tall rangy wingman maybe??? Dean Terlich: Credit where it's due, i thought tonight was one of his better games. Defended well, ran well and even used it reasonably well. I only remember one howler which was dropping a mark he should of taken. Don't think it matters however, as pretty sure his papers are stamped. Max King: Played alright i thought Max. Certainly the best game i've seen him play from a rucking perspective, although like Weideman and Hulett he struggled to have an impact when forward. Kicked a shocker after the siren at 1/4 time that i expected him to nail. No Dunn or Newton tonight, which suggests Melbourne will likely have a late change tomorrow. A great win by the Scorps tonight though as they now go a game clear on top of the ladder with several players putting their hand up for senior selection. Scorps probably could have won by more has they not been as wasteful going forward as compared to Box Hill, but any win over the Hawks is a good one. Any questions, fire away. Edit: Not last years premiers
  18. See the D League team went down by one straight kick. And six inaccurate ones. 11.11.77 to 10.5.65.
  19. Will be heading along tonight. Will give my usual reviews after the match.
  20. I would have preferred Aish v Lewis Jetta.
  21. No Fitzy for Box Hill which is a shame. Should be about 15 Melbourne listed players tomorrow night, so hoping for a win!
  22. Don't disagree. That's why i found it such high praise. Welsh was coach that year though, so Plapp may have been referencing that he was directly involved in?
  23. Pretty sure he has spent some time in defence in his junior years.
