  1. Problem with having a stand alone VFL team is that we not only would have to come up with the 500K to field the team, but we then need to pay for more coaches & probably at least a dozen VFL players to top the team up. Plus then we'd need to come up with where we can play the games. I wouldn't want to be paying any money into Richmond's pockets. If you did form our own team I'd ratehr play out of Victoria Park and just pay City of Yarra for use of the ground. Anyway the issue Casey have, as mnay have pointed out is that they're broke due to a failed pokies venture and have lost a lot of their better VFL listed players. In the last few years they'e lost the like of Fevola, Wall, Stockdale, Lees, Silvagni, Faulks, Mohr, Tynan (The Luke variety), Matthews, Nicholls & Collins just to name a few and I've probably forgotten several others. Add onto that Melbourne have next to zero key position players available at the moment for them and it's no wonder Casey are struggling to kick goals, prevent them and run out games. I'm in the middle of building a house next to the ground, so personally I don't want to see the alignment end. Instead I'd love to see the clubs work closer together to help eachother improve and become top teams in eachother's respective competitions. Perhaps players (young and mature age) Melbourne are looking at recruiting they can suggest spend a year at Casey so they can keep a closer eye on them and other joint plans to help build a strong relationship into the future. Casey is one of the Country's major growth corridors, so I'd hate to see the club give up a great footing only to allow another club to swoop in and take advantage of and create a real presence there. Ala giving up first rights to the old Glasshouse to Collingwood.
  2. Guilty on that part. I've got to the stage where I pretty much only drink craft beers, I like the finer things. Like Dean Kent's goal!
  3. Different Couch, Tom is back playing with Collingwood VFL.
  4. That could happen, but highly unlikely. Even if a deal with ASADA was struck, WADA then have the power to come over the top and say no, no you must serve the full length. I believe that's what happened with Wade Lees when he initially only got 18 months I think it was but then got pushed up to 24. And don't forget, Lee's never even took the substance he got caught trying to import and said he didn't know it had a banned agent in it, but that didn't help him. So if Essendon's players have ended up being injected with a banned substance, it should be good night for 24 months. The smart thing to do would be to drop their legal defence at the end of the 2014 season and sit out 15' & 16' and be good to go for pre-season 2017 but with the idiot Little in charge that wont happen.
  5. Oh thank god you said Smith. For a moment I thought you were going to say Weetra.....
  6. I agree that he is gettable Timmy, but if we're going to trade our top 10 pick I'd rather see us do it for a young line breaker like Tom Mitchell who I'm hoping Roos & Stone can work their magic with.
  7. Matt Rosa's a free agent. We need to go after him hard!
  8. Northern Queensland Cairns/Townsville I reckon will be their next target. After that they'll either look to Tassie or NZ for a 20th team. Tassie if they just want a smooth transition. New Zealand if they want to go international which I don't believe they're that keen on doing, but we'll see.
  9. Not for me thanks, as good as he is. The final piece of our key forward puzzle is a tall forward who chops out in the ruck, Cameron isn't this. I'd rather go after Boyd at the end of 2015 or Gorringe, McBean or Tarrant at the end of this year. Reckon Geelong, Hawthorn, Collingwood, North, Carlton and St Kilda will be the 6 most likely.
  10. Shifter Shehan mentioned on TAC Futuer Stars yesterday that Stretch impressed across half back in that game and that he expects him to get drafted.
  11. But anyway, back on topic GWS are a complete rabble and it's hard to see where the light at the end of the tunnel is for them. It's going to be tough for them to attract good mature age players, and with few great role models and leaders for the kids they have up there, they're certainly coming from a long way back. I reckon it will only take a light shake of the tree at seasons end and a lot may shake out. Think Lachie Plowman fits our needs basis pretty strongly, we may also make enquiries about Shiel & Treloar, but I expect they'll be tougher ones to get.
  12. Yeah I was always one to renovate Victoria Park, made perfect sense to me. Right on a train line, only just outside the city and several clubs would be able to play a few home games there. But alas we're stuck with these stupid stadium deals that we currently have instead.
  13. Brisbane Bears were actually starting to come good before the merge. Robert Walls got them to the finals for the first time in 1995 and then Swooper Northey took them to a Prelim in 96 and then the merge begun. It certainly helped them get their premierships though.
  14. Cam Pedersen's filling that role manfully at the moment. We also have Fitzy in the wings, however whether he'll develop to fill that role or not who knows? Some options out there for Mitch's role IMO are Daniel Gorringe from GC, Liam McBean from Richmond, yet to play a game but reckon he's going to be good and Robbie Tarrant from North.
  15. I'd previously mentioned Ryan O'Keefe as a potential target, however I'm now starting to cool on him. My targets would be Matt Rosa as a free agent and trades for Lachlan Plowman and Daniel Gorringe.
  16. Ruck depth if nothing else. If we didn't have Spencer we would have been in big trouble during the first month of this season. Unless we can land someone like Gorringe during the trade period, then I'd expect Spencer to stay.
  17. Thanks, must have missed that. I guess I was right about the 2 years at least!
  18. Yeah you might be right, the way he's playing there's an strong argument for 3. Also would space our OOC players out a bit I guess.
  19. Can't see any of them leaving. They'll all be done towards the back end of the season. I'd be expecting Frawley 5 years McDonald 4 years Dunn 2 years Spencer 2 years Kent 2 years Riley 2 years Barry 2 years Bail 2 years M. Jones 2 years Terlich 2 years Cross 1 year Also expect Jetta & Georgiou to gain senior promotion at seasons end & Harmes/King offered 2nd years on the rookie list.
  20. I reckon we may end up in 13th position giving us Pick 6, then I think Picks 25 & 43 (roughly). Pick 6 I'm really keen on Jake Lever out of the Calder Cannons. 192cm Key position defender. Think a Sam Fisher meets Jarred Rivers type, great disposal and provides a fair bit of run to. Probably needs to add another 10kg but at TAC level he holds his own in 1 on 1 battles no problem. He would give us another tall defender coming through with Dunn, Frawley & Garland all bring there for the best part of 8 years plus now. Pick 25 I'd love Jake's Calder Cannons team mate Touk Miller despite his terrible first name. He reminds me of Ben McGlynn actually, but with the pace of Prestia or Kent. Great burst of speed and he gets in and under and he's also very effective inside the forward 50 making him an ideal small forward (at 177cm) in his first few seasons. Pick 43 Billy Stretch (Father/Son) Thankyou very much, and the young midfielder/forward will go along way to helping us with our lack of speed on the outside. If we do commit to him, it may sway Viney/Taylor/Roos's decision on whether or not to offer Blease another contract or not?
  21. Clark - retired Byrnes - delisted/retired Nicholson - delist Strauss - delist Blease - delist/trade Tapscott - delist/trade People have mentioned Evans, however I thought he had another year on his contract? This would give us three picks in the national draft, another two to upgrade Jetta & Georgiou and 1 Free Agent Pick up (Rosa please!) Would then also give us two rookie selections, one of which to be used on Barry. Edit: Removed Barry
  22. All comes down to if Dawes goes or not. If he gets a week then Chip comes in for him, if not Chip comes in for Max given the conditions up there. Jetta will also come in, likely for Salem, again mainly due to the conditions and Salem I reckon will be given a full week at Casey. IN: Frawley, Jetta OUT: Salem, Dawes or Gawn FB: Dunn, Garland, Jetta HB: Grimes, McDonald, Terlich C: Watts, Cross, M. Jones HF: Bail, Frawley, Viney FF: Pederson, Dawes/Gawn, Kennedy-Harris FOLL: Jamar, Tyson, N. Jones INT: Howe, Reilly, Vince SUB: Toumpas EMERG: Blease, Clisby, McKenzie Only reason I don't have Salem down as an emergency as I said is because they'll want him to have a full game at Casey, and they'll likely to all emergencies on this trip, so some runners in Blease/Clisby and another in & under midfielder (McKenzie) will travel for that. If Dawes is cleared then I'd expect Gawn to be an emergency ahead of one of Blease/Clisby. Really hope we can take it right up to these over achieving phonies!
  23. Hawthorn or Geelong may back their leadership groups in to get him on the straight and narrow, but other then them I couldn't see anyone else willing to take a punt on him. As you said surely he wont go through and appeal this. Would be counter productive for him, sure he may get the fine reduced/waived and same with his suspension, but Ward and co can tell the coach that they wont play with him and he'll just spend his time running around in the 2's and would just put other clubs off recruiting him even more so then they probably already are. Suck it up you idiot and just request a trade at season's end!
  24. Going by what Misson said in his previous injury report, Harmes should be good to go this week also.
