  1. What if I want to have a mute one?
  2. Deleted my post, forgot about Sylvia. Clisby will get promoted at Pick 94, so this pick's still on the table.
  3. We won't be using this pick, so it's now a mute debate.
  4. Now that we're promoting Cliby and only opened up 1 more senior listed spot today, if we take Horsley, it'll be in the rookie draft unless there's any further delistings.
  5. I reckon Isaiah Miller could fill that void and a very good chance he'll still be available at Pick 57. 187cm, 82kg
  6. No need to get nasty just because you can't read a sentence properly.
  7. I'm open to the idea of picking up Weller or Horsley as a delisted free agent and Weller seems linked to a few other clubs. Question the club needs to ask is are we better off signing say Horsley or promoting Clisby with Pick 94 and then drafting another midfielder with a rookie draft pick. I could go either way, you just have to think of eho may be available in the rookie draft? George Hampson or Tom Langdon possibly?
  8. If you read the openning post properly you'll see I've siad rookie draft, not pre-season draft.
  9. That's where Cameron Giles comes in at Pick 40.
  10. Nathan Freeman..... That is all!
  11. Was delisted just recently and I reckon may be worth a lifeline at Pick 2 in the rookie draft. 23 years old, 192cm, 88kg KPF who's kicked 35 goals in 25 matches but has never had a full run with Brisbane. Given Clark and Dawes injury concerns and our obvious game plan around 3 key forwards I think it's important that we have plenty of depth in the area and a mature age rookie selection could be just the go I reckon. http://www.lions.com.au/player-profile/aaron-cornelius Some other options for mine are Mitch Thorp from the TSL, although he may go in the national draft and Khan Haretuku (VFL) and Andrew Ainger (SANFL). So curious to hear what people think of the prospect of throwing the Tasmanian a rookie lifeline? I remember I was actually keen on drafting him back in Watt's draft year with a late pick.
  12. Pick 40 to big a risk, there's still some good players around at 40. (Cameron Giles, Mitch Honeychurch) I'd only take him if we were looking at a bargain basement price of Pick 94 (if we use it) or PSD Pick 2.
  13. I'm sticking with my initial pick. Cameron Giles. 195cm KPD with pace and a good kick. If we were to loose Frawley at the end of 2014 I don't want to see us putting Pedersen or Dunn in to replace him. We've recruited Tyson, Vince, Michie, Cross. We'll get Freeman at Pick 9 and could still take someone like Mav Weller or Kyal Horsley as a delisted free agent. We're taking care of the midfield, now let's make sure we keep a balanced list and take Giles at Pick 40.
  14. Apparently he thinks he's pretty good. Only reason why I'd be prepared to take him is that Roos seems to have a way with these types of players.
  15. If he's there at PSD Pick 2 I'd take the punt. Otherwsie I'd be just as happy to go with Chris Cain, Jarrod Stokes, Willie Rioli or Chris Michaelidis.
  16. Would be more then happy to take Mav as a delisted free agent. And also, mods please merge.
  17. We may actaully not use it at all if they don't delist anymore senior players. We only have 3 senior spots and 1 rookie spot avaialble at the moment, so it may not even become an issue.
  18. We could just go another untried kid and pick up Dayle Garlett if he goes another national draft without being picked up. Emma Quayle doesn't seem to think there's any certainty on him being drafted despite the slim pickings this year.
  19. Out: Davey (retired) Rodan (retired) MacDonald (retired) Tynan (delisted) Sellar (delisted) Gillies (delisted) Davis (delisted) Couch* (delisted) Sylvia (Free Agent) In: Hogan (automatic inclusion) Michie (trade) Tyson (trade) Vince (trade) Cross (delisted free agent) Pick 9 (Freeman) Pick 40 (Giles) Pick 57 (J. Kolodjashnij) Rookie Pick 2 (Thorp) My Pick of what'sto come. Out: Jetta (delisted) Nicholson (delisted) Magner* (delisted) In: Pick 94 (Pongracic) Pre-Season Draft Pick 2: (Garlett) Rookie Pick 20 (Lever) Would of loved to sign Weller as a delisted free agent instead of use Pick 94, but it sounds like Essendon will land him. I think Pongracic will be a great get at Pick 94 though and will add grunt and run to our midfield. *For rookie listed player
  20. Or we could end up drafting Bontempelli who's 191cm or the 188cm Kolodjashnji.....
  21. Josh Cowan (Geelong): Make him the promise of more opportunities, 2 year deal. Will probably only get a 1 year extension at the Cats. http://www.geelongcats.com.au/player-profile/josh-cowan Leigh Osborne (Gold Coast): Give him the opportunity to have a spot on a senior list as he'll likely stay on the rookie list at the suns. I really wanted us th draft this kid last year. We'll also be giving him a ticket back to Victoria. http://www.goldcoastfc.com.au/player-profile/leigh-osborne Ryan Harwood (Brisbane): Probably not a heap of difference between his opportunities here to Brisbane. But a two year deal plus the chance to play under Roos compared to a novice coach would surely have to be tempting for the man. Also he moves closer to his home state of Tassie. http://www.lions.com.au/player-profile/ryan-harwood And also Josh Mellington (Fremantle): The kid allegedly wants to return to Victoria but allegedly no takers. Get in his ear and tell him we'll be waiting in the PSD. http://www.fremantlefc.com.au/player-profile/joshua-mellington Edit: Mellington
  22. One of: Chris Cain (VIC – Mid/Fwd) Height: 181cm, Weight: 83kg, DOB: 14/07/1987 Recruited from: Port Melbourne Style: Player comparison: Sam Dywer Range: late/rookie Profile: Cain has been one of the better performed players in the VFL these past few seasons and seems finally hot on the radar of clubs this season. Cain is a midfielder with a nice skill set but also strong hands overhead allowing him to be a marking threat when he pushes forward. Athletically he’s above average with a nice combination of pace and endurance at his disposal. Dayle Garlett (WA – Mid/Fwd) Height: 181cm, Weight: 77kg, DOB: 09/01/1994 Recruited from: Swan Districts Football Club Style: Harley Bennell Player comparison: Range: 20-undrafted Profile: Quality midfielder who can sneak forward and have an impact. Garlett has game-breaking pace and uses it to advantage with regularity and is willing to take running bounces and take the ball as far as the opposition let him. Decision making excellent and even when pressured or in congestion still makes the right decision most of the time. Finishing around goal good. Left footer with some nice penetration and hurt factor on his kick and hits his targets easily over a variety of distances. Can also use his right boot and use it well. Has the ability to really hit the scoreboard and be very damaging with the influence he can have on some games. Also when the ball hits the ground I like how he immediately has that quickness of mind and body to get to the ball quicker than everyone and quickly get the ball onto hit boot for a goal. Garlett is also very capable of winning his own ball and playing on the ball and not just outside. Dayle still needs to build more strength through the hips so that he can stand up in tackles, but there is a fair bit to like about his game. Also defensively can continue to get better to compliment his incredible offensive game. The main questions with Garlett are around his personality and attitude and if he can convince a club that he will keep his head down and not be a problem player he has the opportunity to get drafted. OR: Jake Kolodjashnij (TAS – KPD/Util) Height: 192cm, Weight: 88kg, DOB: 09/08/1995 Recruited from: Launceston Style: Ryan Shoenmakers Player comparison: Range: 30-rookie Profile: The brother of Kade, Jake is a completely different player. Jake is a defender with a strong body and the ability to shut down opposition forwards or play as a rebounder as required. What I like with Jake is his versatility and ability to play a number of roles either as a key defender or even as more of a rebounder off a back flank. But in saying that I’m not yet sold on him in any one role. As a key defender despite his size he can struggle 1v1 and also struggle when the ball hits the deck with that second effort not yet there.
  23. Cameron Giles (SA – KPD) Height: 195cm, Weight: 93kg, DOB: 5/05/1995 Recruited from: Woodville-West Torrens Style: Scott Thompson (NM) Player comparison: Range: 20-late Profile: After Darcy Gardiner, Giles is probably that next best key defender. Through the u18 champs he played mostly as more of a shutdown defender which I don’t feel is as much his game but as more a rebounding defender he can be a factor with his points of difference at his size being his vision and footskills. Giles makes the right decisions more often than not seeing the right target but then he executes his kicks finding the right target and can hit them up over a variety of distances. Giles has a tendency to play relatively unaccountable brand of footy allowing him to be a real factor on the rebound and make best use of his ability by foot. With the potential of Chip leaving at the end of the season and Dunn & Pedo being our only back up for KPD I think we should focus on a key position player here & Giles should be available at Pick 40, but unlikely to still be around at 57. Here's some of his highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruH3nkXKAG4 If Giles is gone by pick 40 then another area we need to look at is our small forwards that can rotate through the midfield. And Mitch Honeychurch would be a great addition IMO. Mitch Honeychurch (VIC – Mid/Fwd) Height: 175cm, Weight: 65kg, DOB: 02/03/1995 Recruited from: Eastern Ranges Style: Player comparison: Range: 30-rookie Profile: Short, light bodied midfielder but provides some real inside grunt and hardness over the ball really winning the contested ball with the best of them. He’s got that real competitive, hard edge to him and from all reports is as hard a trainer as you’ll find. Honeychurch in addition to his ability inside the contest also displays excellent endurance and has that ability to find a combination of inside and outside ball. Has a burst of speed to him. Excellent at ground level as someone who can gather the footy off the ground effortlessly for a clean pickup. Is excellent in traffic and is a very quick thinker. Short kicking excellent and has the vision to find his targets inside 50, my main criticism with his kicking is that he can sometimes try to do too much with his longer kicks but any minor kinks over the medium-longer distances can be ironed out. Here's a couple of articles on him: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-07-10/honeychurch-name-starting-to-stick & http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-09-23/life-sweet-for-honeychurch So they're my two main targets at Pick 40. If we end up going with Giles then I'd be happy to see us land Chris Cain or Dayle Garlett & Pick 57. If we end up going with Honeychurch then I'd be happy to see us go with the identical twin of a gun Jake Kolodjashnij at Pick 57.
  24. Tomas Bugg. Or we can hope the GWS/Collingwood Taylor Adams trade falls through and we can swoop in the PSD!
  25. Fully fit I have him in our 22 playing HFF, rotating through the midfield. His speed and spread will be very valuable. If Roos can get him to play a role clamping down on the oppositions best rebounding dfender each week Pickles could become an extremely valuable member of our 22. As for our designated small forward, as of this stage I still see that as a battle between Byrnes, Kent, Blease and whoever we draft at Pick 57. Edit: Spelling
