  1. That well could be the case. It certainly would be a bit more balanced.
  2. Could have been Dangerfield, Slaone, Shiel, Treloar, Prestia & O'Rourke and told by all thanks but no thanks?
  3. Haha. Well I doubt 41 on it's own would be enough. Swapping 3 with 5 though means we still keep a 2nd really early pick where we should be able to land Wright to help our ruck stocks. Brisbane have Pick 3 to deal with rather then 5, meaning Collingwood know they can land McCartin to help out their lack of decent tall forwards as part of the Beams deal.
  4. Not needed. Pick 43 to GWS for Sam Frost Mitch Clark to Geelong for Travis Varcoe Jimmy Toumpas to Adelaide for Jarryd Lyons & Pick 32 Pick 32 to Collingwood for H. Lumumba Jack Fitzaptrick & Pick 62 to Carlton for Jarrad Waite compo Pick (41) Pick 41 & 3 to Brisbane for Daniel Merrett & Pick 5. Michael Evans & Pick 80 to St Kilda for Pick 79. Leaves us Pick 2: Angus Brayshaw, 5: Peter Wright or Sam Durdin, 24 Billy Stretch (F/S), 79 (Jetta upgrade).
  5. From what I'm hearing that deal's already done in principal. O'Rourke, Jaksch & 4 for Pick 1. Saints massive winners there.
  6. First we trade Fitzpatrick & our 4th round pick to Carlton for their Waite compensation. (Likely band 4, end of 2nd round. Approx 41) Even throw Blease in also to get it done if need be. Trade Pick 41 & 3 to Brisbane for Merrett & Pick 5. Pick 3 may give Brisbane a little more currency for the Beams trade, as the filth will know they'll land McCartin to help their forward line issues. Brisbane will then just need to come up with a role player for icing on the cake for the filth.
  7. He should be easy enough to get via a trade. If Mitch decides to go to Collingwood, straight swap. If Micth decides to go to Geelong: Clark to Geelong, Taylor Hunt & the Cats 3rd round pick to Collingwood, the player formerly known as Harry O to us.
  8. Latest rounds I've heard amongst the office today. Dees trade Pick 3 & Mitch Clark to Collingwood Collingwood trade Beams to Brisbane Brisbane trade Pick 25 (approx) to Melbourne & Aish to Adelaide Adelaide tarde Dangerfield to Melbourne Melbourne then send Pick 2 back to Adelaide and ontrade 25 to Collingwood Collingwood send Lumumba back to Melbourne Adelaide: Loose Dangerfiled, gain pick 2 & Aish. Brisbane: Loose Aish & Pick 25, gain Beams Collingwood: Loose Beams & Lumumbaa, gain Picks 3, 25 & Clark Melbourne: Loose Picks 2, 3 & Clark, gain Dangerfield & Lumumba. Reasonably fair, although a lot depends on Dangerfield not breaking down. We also Then still have our 2nd & 3rd round picks for Stretch & a trade for Frost.
  9. Well in a reversal of roles, Darren Jarman did it to us. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darren_Jarman
  10. The spanner in the works could be if we have to use a 2nd round pick on Billy!
  11. Needs to back himself more. On more then one occasion this year he found himself running inside 50 and attempted to kick to another player in a marking contest instead of having the shot himself. I hope he improves, but think he'll eventually either next year or in 2016 find himself out of the 22 and then eventually off the list.
  12. Kept on for depth only due to Jamar's career coming towards an end and Gawn's injury issues I feel. Over his next two years I expect (along with Jamar's eventual retirement) us to draft at least 1 ruckman and probably trade in a couple also, meaning after 2016 I don't expect Spencil to stay on our list.
  13. Started the year well, but seemd to struggle back at Casey I thought. 50/50 for keeping his spot next year. Personaly, his lack of rebound from the back half has me inclined to think he may be let go. Promote Jetta, give Harmes & King an extra year each and delist Georgiou means we get 2 picks in the rookie draft.
  14. As well he should. 6th place in Casey B&F a very good effort. Obviously needs to work on his defensive side as per a lot of the Casey match reports, but a good size and pace and seems to have an ability to be effective both as an inside & outside midfielder. Something we need more players to be able to do.
  15. Gee, clearly I've touched a significant nerve PSD, did you come up with the current system or something? I fail to see what level I've played at (in any sport) has anything to do with the point being made. I've played in different teams in different sports that have gone through seasons undefeated and lost in a Grand Final and another team that knocked out an undefeated team in a finals series after we only scrapped through on percentage, it doesn't matter, the better team on the day won. I'm not saying that neither Sydney or Hawthorn aren't deserving of being in the Grand Final, what I'm saying is that they've received a stronger advantage going into their Prelim's then they necessarily needed. All I've said is that a trend has occured over the last 15 years, that I don't think is overly good for the game, if you disagree, fair enough.
  16. That's the home ground advantage & best draw for the finals like in the NBA. You shouldn't be gifted a spot in the Grand Final just cause you then win your first final (unless it were only a top 4 of course), otherwise we may as well follow the EPL model and not worry about a finals series at all.
  17. Bring in Hogan, Malceski, Mitchell, Brayshaw, some confidence, extra pre-season into Viney, Tyson, Salem, Kent etc and we could sneak into 7th or 8th. But I highly doubt it.
  18. Missing the point rjay. Which is that under the current system, the Grand Finalists are decided after the first week effectively. Almost makes semi and pelim finals pointless as in the last 15 years, if you win a Qualifying Final, there's a 90% chance you're into the Grand Final. Compare that to the system from 94-99, where it was at a more even 66.6% where 8 of the 12 teams that got the week off after the first week ended up in the Grand Final, with 4 teams not getting there. Now I'm not saying we should go back to that system. But I do think we need a new one, just to keep the whole series alive longer.
  19. Well since the current system came in there have been 30 Qualifying Finals played, with the winners of those matches progressing to the Grand Final on 27 occasions. So you've given the reason for last nights match. Can you explain the other 26 out of 29?
  20. Been on the list 5 years and while he's showed glimpses, it's just not enough for me, so I say he's a good candidate to trade while there's still value there. As for Stretch, I reckon one of North, Port or Essendon will bid their 1st pick for him and force us to take him 2nd round. I reckon Tutt would absolutely. He'll take Bail's role I suspect and become a defensive forward, but with more versatility to go into the midfield or half back. Ramsey's a good tough as nails half back flanker with good pace and disposal who was a 2nd round pick two years back. Hasn't played much due to Collingwood's amount of back flankers, but had a great year in the VFL. And as for the Clark trade, I'd love to get true value, a 1st round pick. But due to his issues and injuries, we wont get offered anywhere near that. We'll be offered 3rd rounders at best. With this trade we at least get a player with 2 years in the system who plays a role we need depth in who has a potential 10 years ahead of him. As for the Sydney trade, I still reckon it's balanced, even if you say pick 3 for Mitchell & Malceski, Toumpas for Jones, then pick 22 for Membrey & 40. Still think it's fair, although unlikely. As for trading Garland, we're loosing Frawley, so I'd be very reluctant to trade Garland also, with only a raw Frost to come in. I'd want us to be taking Drudin in the draft otherwise.
  21. Had a rethink of what/who we need, and what we may have available. Frawley compo/Priority Selection at start of 2nd round, And here's what I reckon could play out, and would be good for us. Trade our 3rd round pick (43ish) to GWS for Frost Fitzpatrick & our 4th round pick (61) to Bulldogs for Tutt & their 3rd round pick (46). Clark & Pick 46 to Collingwood for Jackson Ramsay Trade Frawley compo (P3) Priority Pick (P22) & Toumpas to Sydney for Malceski, Mitchell, Jones, Membrey & their 2nd round pick (40). Effectively that monster trade becomes Pick 3 for Mitchell & Jones, Pick 22 for Malceski & Toumpas for Membrey & 40. Evans & our 5th round pick (79) to St Kilda for ther 5th round pick (78). Delist Blease, Tapscott, Strauss & Georgiou to go with Clisby, Nicholson, Byrnes retirement & Frawley's departure Go to the drat with Picks 2 (Petracca or more likely Brayshaw), 24 (Stretch) & 40 (McLaren), 78 (Jetta upgrade) & Rookie draft with Picks 2 & 20.
  22. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/tim-membrey-puts-contract-talks-on-hold-amid-sydneys-loaded-forward-line/story-fni5fan7-1227064471118 Worth a look? Put contract talks on hold. 188cm KPF in the Jack Darling mould. Could be a handy pick up. As we saw this year, without Hogan & Clark, apart from Pedersen we didn't really have anyone else to fill that 3rd tall forward spot.
  23. I agree 100%, One of the reasons why I actually flagged a 6 week finals series. It would be conditional on reducing the home & away season to 18 games each. You play everyone once and only 1 other team you play twice and you could set it up like the rivalry round they tried to get going a few years back. West Coast v Freo Adelaide v Port Brisbane v Gold Coast Sydney v GWS Carlton v Collingwood Geelong v Hawthorn Essendonv Richmond Melbourne v North St Kilda v Bulldogs Everyone gets 9 home & 9 away games.
  24. So some of my mates and I have this year been going through Melbourne's top 10 Parma's from a Parma review website named parmadaze http://parmadaze.com/?page_id=1715 Anyway we've been working down from 10 to 1 and in a couple of weeks time we're hitting number 3 on the list, Melbourne Demons very own sponsor The Duke of Wellington! Looking forward to see how it stacks, so to anyone who's been and had the Pamra, let me know what to expect? Also to anyone interested, out of the Parma's on that website ranked 3-10, the Parma ranked 6 (The Local Taphouse), is amazing! And some fantastic beers there also. Will update to give a summary on the Parma at our sponsors venue.
  25. The seat of Frankston will decide the election. And after the Geoff Shaw fiasco/s and and planned altering to the Frankston train line by the current state government, I can't see how Labor wont win that seat come November.
