Just do the exact opposite of what your instincts tell you, like George Costanza in the episode where he lands the job with the NY Yankees. Thread update: I'm putting up a prize for the winner (Demonland t-shirt) at season's end (see opening post for rules)
-
I propose a contest, which I'll keep track of throughout the season, where demonlanders cast their 3-2-1 Brownlow votes for Melbourne games after each round. Once the count is made at the end of the season, points will be awarded according to the following criteria: 3 points for predicting a player with the correct number of actual votes polled. 1 point for predicting a player with the wrong number of votes. 10 point bonus for predicting the correct votes for a round in order. I'll get the ball rolling with my first rd predictions 3 - J. Viney, 2 - Boooooooo (sorry for my earlier indescretion Daisycutter), 1 - J. Watts Edit: To make it interesting, I'll donate a prize of a Demonland T-shirt for the competition winner. Good luck!!

I really wish our key forwards would lead harder at the ball carrier and demand the footy instead of hanging out in front of goals for the big pack mark. Very frustrating, Hogan would kick bags of goals if he would just lead out of the goal square a bit more.

We can bank the 4 pts but should have really been well beaten today. They kicked themselves out of it. Nonetheless, what a fantastic win. Really liked the tackling pressure, especially in the 1st and 4th quarters. If we can sort out the end to end transition (both defending and attacking) we'll be a hard side to play against this year. Loved Oliver, he's going to be some player. Jack Viney BOG by some margin.

Thanks for the replies. Ended up grabbing seats in Olympic stand level 1 Block M53. Go the Dees!

Hi D'landers, I'm bringing the family to Melbourne this year to watch the Dees play on Queens Birthday. This is my first time to the G and I've got no idea where the best place is to book tickets for the game. I've spoken to the club and they said my interstate membership gets me general admission (probably Level 3), she suggested I upgrade to a seat on Level 2 in either the Southern or Olympic stand as I'm more likely to be amongst Demon fans. She said to avoid the Ponsford Stand. Anyone got any advice for good spots, would prefer not to be staring into the afternoon sun if possible. Can't wait!!

Awesome, thanks for posting (pun intended)

Tom McDonald needs to take a good hard look at himself.

OP has blown TMac's game way out of proportion. He wasn't that bad from the replay I watched and won plenty of one-on-one contests. -

makes sense to try it out, i see TMac becoming a swing man that can play fwd or back. Like others here, Frost frightens me in the forward line, what's the point when he can't kick set shots. -

The more I watch TMac the more I think he might be a better replacement for Dawes at CHF. Its heart in mouth stuff most of the time he gets it in the back half. -

Hats off Ben Kennedy, showed that he's not just VFL depth in that 2nd half. He'll be best 22 if he can reproduce that effort every week. Vanders and Viney were unreal. Umpiring was outrageously biased towards us for a change, almost felt guilty a few times. The rotation disparity played a factor in our 2nd half undoubtedly, I'll be interested to see how the team runs it out with fewer interchanges. -

We look like we're playing our first competitive hit out for the season. Haven't been very impressed with the defending when they are in transition from defense (very loose). Tyson gets it a lot but is the new Brock McLean (running in treacle). Kennedy and Hunt look lost out there. Salem, Jetta, Gawn, Watts, Viney all look pretty solid. Have liked the few touches of Stretch as well. Vanders looks rusty but that tackle! Lets see how they run out the 2nd half. -

Richmond have how many members? 60k +? Supply and demand is behind this pure and simple. If we had that many members they'd probably have Nathan Jones and Matt Jones highlight packages on there.

Thanks for the post, but as someone from the real south-west (WA) I'm somewhat offended at your reference to Adelaide as the "south-west". In all seriousness though, I doubt that Wines will come to the Dees, unless we lose some of our own young guns (e.g. Brayshaw, CP5, Jesse), otherwise, how are we going to fit all these blokes in under the salary cap?

I'll come up with something in the new year, flat out trying to finish my PhD at the moment

I knew when I read through this thread that it was the depths of pre season.

So does this mean you are a climate change denier?

Definitely need a couple of speedy receivers that can have the ball delivered to them from the stoppages courtesy of the brute boys. I keep thinking of some of those centre clearances when Jeff Garlett got on the end of one and ran it out of the middle.

I vote Weed at 3, set up our fwd line and get Prestia next year

AFL images have some good shots. How pure is the follow through of Mitchell White's kicking action? He looks a likely sort to me.

I'm with the OP, the old Cameron Schwab logo sucked the big one, new one is better but I'm still underwhelmed, i like the flaming M logo best Edit: graphic designer said the logo has to work at 32 pixels, IMHO it looks like an upside down beanie at that size. Doesn't look finished to my eye.

Goals for next year: Hogan - 60 Garlett - 45 Kent - 30 Vince 20 Petracca - 15 Dawes/Pedo - 15 If Petracca has an injury free season, I can see him kicking 20+. Reckon he'll be very dangerous inside F50. These numbers are assuming no major injury layoffs of course. -
