Goddard was pretty useless in his first three years too. Morton seems like that type of player to me. Good engine, tall, slight but with a bit of class. Goddard Refresh your memory here with a comparison to Jarred Brennan as well. -
Karl Langdon's Top 50 players in the AFL published in WA yesterday Four Dees: Green, Sylvia, Grimes & Moloney! Interesting No Jamar or Davey. Grimes and Moloney are surprises. Langdon Brendon Goddard (St Kilda) Dane Swan (Collingwood) Gary Ablett (Gold Coast) Chris Judd (Carlton) Paul Chapman (Geelong) Joel Selwood (Geelong) Lance Franklin (Hawthorn) Luke Hodge (Hawthorn) Nick Riewoldt (St Kilda) Matthew Pavlich (Fremantle) Alan Didak (Collingwood) Matthew Boyd (Western Bulldogs) Scott Pendlebury (Collingwood) Lenny Hayes (St Kilda) Jimmy Bartel (Geelong) Aaron Sandilands (Fremantle) Leigh Montagna (St Kilda) Steve Johnson (Geelong) Daniel Cross (Western Bulldogs) Kane Cornes (Port Adelaide) Mark LeCras (West Coast) Jonathan Brown (Brisbane) Brent Harvey (North Melbourne) Adam Goodes (Sydney) Brian Lake (Western Bulldogs) Dean Cox (West Coast) Cyril Rioli (Hawthorn) Bryce Gibbs (Carlton) Sam Mitchell (Hawthorn) Brad Green (Melbourne) Corey Enright (Geelong) David Mundy (Fremantle) Travis Boak (Port Adelaide) Ryan Griffen (Western Bulldogs) Shaun Burgoyne (Hawthorn) Andrew Swallow (North Melbourne) Marc Murphy (Carlton) Jack Riewoldt (Richmond) Colin Sylvia (Melbourne) Dale Thomas (Collingwood) Daniel Connors (Richmond) Greg Broughton (Fremantle) Jack Grimes (Melbourne) Simon Black (Brisbane) Jobe Watson (Essendon) Jarrad McVeigh (Sydney) Scott Thompson (Adelaide) Brent Moloney (Melbourne) Ben McGlynn (Sydney) James Kelly (Geelong)

Could you imagine a better draw in the first 7 rounds?? This is a dream for us. If we botch this it will stuff our season. That's why I am peeved with our pre-season. I wanted to hit the ground running. We have been training for 5 months!!!! You reckon we might have perfected the zone and kick-ins. Look how the scum have transformed their game under golden balls. They have a cr*p draw but we could be flying if we get it right.

Melbourne's top 10 players going into 2011

If you are saying Proven track record then it is a lot different from potential or most important to the side (in terms of development etc) FWIW I have done it based on potential for 2011 1, Green 2. Davey 3. Jamar 4. Sylvia 5. Frawley 6. Scully 7. Trengove 8. Tapscott (we need to get thru the press) 9. Grimes =10. Morton (clear the def 50)/Wona (fwd defensive pressure) -
With Dunn looking doubtful my guess is that Martin will take Goodes.
-
Mine at least loads properly now.
-
Smart move by Stynes.Put pressure on him to rehabilitate and contribute to charity work. Fev will run a mile.
-
If you don't think Dunn is in our best 22 you are nuts. Bate and Dunn are also 192/193cm compared to Wonna and Maric that are 178ish?? Your suggestion would leave us very short and change the structure of the team immensely.

New website to openbookproject.com re keeping diaries as a kid/teenager On health. Last scans were 'all good'.
-
Discussing teenagers at risk....
-
We'd be robbing ourselves with Dunn on him. We need Dunn fwd. Martin can do it quite well and it wouldn't rob us of anything really.
-
Martin is one of the fastest players we have!!
-
err, because he was playing in the SANFL against MEN?!!
-
What about Martin as a tag for Goodes?? Can match him for speed and height. Either that or Dunn I suspect.
-
Is that right? Even though he has been elevated?

Dees' Plan To Maintain Fitness Of Substitute
jnrmac replied to Keyser Söze's topic in Melbourne Demons
My guess is you want the runners rotating frequently with the versatile players like Martin, Newton etc as subs. Problem is if a runner gets injured. We will probably see more of Jamar resting in the fwd line for 5 mins rather than coming off the ground with Dunn, Sylvia etc taking the odd ruck hit out. -
Juice has the attributes that could make him an ideal Sub. Can ruck and go fwd. Played back in the China game and did OK. It's his pea-heart that worries me and the fact he is hopeless below his knees. Oh yeah, he gets bumped off the ball too easily and misses easy set shots. Other than that it's an inspired choice that will surely have opposition teams wondering WTF is going on down at Demonland...

When you are coming off a low base you have to aim at something realistic. Winning quarters is realistic and achievable. That phase though while still relevant should now have moved into other meaningful stats like I50 differentials and efficiency, rebounds, time in fwd50 etc. I am sure the club looks at all those acutely but the public face is quarters won. KISS.
-
I'd like to win the I50 count. Last year we only won it six times. One stat that encapsulates pretty much where we are. And that gives a pretty good indication of whether you will win the game or not. Our midfield needs to improve stoppages and clearances dramatically. Needs to help the fwd line keep the ball in longer. Neat article attached says we defend from too far back. I actually agree with that. We are so slow from kick ins and rebounds that other teams can zone up before we clear the area. Big focus needs to be on first give BUT going forward. None of this backwards crud. Fwd starvation
-
Martin will play back up for the short term so it's Evans for mine.
-
I agree with your post and it highlights our two biggest weaknesses. Getting the ball in our fwd 50 and for that the midfield is a PROBLEM. Have been saying it for a while - yes we have some kids to go in there but it is a problem. ANd keeping the ball in our fwd 50 when it gets there - defensive pressure. Not good enough. For mine Jetta will make that his stand out attribute this year.
-
If people actually watched Watts they would see how much work he does. He does 3 or 4 leads for pretty much every fwd thrust. He either gets ignored or the delivery is poor. Every player is on notice regarding improvement and I take this thread as that. I'd be hugely surprised if he is not there in rd 1.

When Fev nicks off next year and the Dees have gone the Scorps might bemoan their short term thinking.
