  1. Australian hockey ex-Captain and Coach Ric Charlesworth said a number of years ago when assisting at WCE that it has taken AFL 100 years to work out that you are allowed to kick the ball backwards. The only way to stop this nonsense is to restrict the interchange. In years gone by players couldn't run for 4 quarters and we had less collision type injuries. We also had more one-on-one contests and IMO footy was generally more attractive to watch. Can't stand this basketball/soccer/hockey zone crap.
  2. Cale is an automatic 'in' once he has fitness. WHo gets dropped will depend on match ups. FWIW Garland will play fwd this week.
  3. Has been playing upfield at Casey to get game time, action and to build his build fitness. Will be picked when ready. Enough said.
  4. It's called insurance. A La Hawthorn.
  5. And Judd only had 68% efficiency yesterday. The Cartel should drop him immediately. You guys need to get real. You don't know what Dunn's role was. What the Coach told him to do and more importantly whether he did it. And another poster suggesting we drop Bartram is mindless. Blitzed Harvey yesterday.
  6. I have heard DB say on a number of occasions that Garland will play forward this year. Well, now is about the right time with Ricky Bobby likely gone for a period. Rivers is back and doesn't appear to me someone who can go fwd. Watts is not ready yet. Newton is, well, Newton. Dunn should ideally be the guy but hasn't set the world on fire in recent forays fwd. Shame since he is the same size as Pavlich and 1cm smaller than Goodes and Reiwoldt. For mine I'd like to see Garland fwd now that he has a few games under his belt and has some fitness.
  7. Grimes came to us because we traded Travis to Brisbane for pick 14.
  8. Is this the quote you wanted to use to remind us of your genious????
  9. It's what DB has been trying to do for a while. Basically the players are running and running hard. They are spreading and offering options. They have faith that their lead will be honoured (ie: someone will kick it to them). We are definitely hitting targets. We are moving the ball quickly and so are not doing the ring-a-rosy thing with handballs in the backline. Because we are moving quickly players upfield are getting free of their opponents. Players are gaining more confidence in their ability to take on the game. It's a virtuous circle but one that is broken if one part doesn't function like it should.
  10. What he's saying is that every game from the 2003 premiership until now they have had at least 1 premiership player playing. Good stat that. They'll have as much experience as us! In fact we'll have more because Green played in the 2000 GF.
  11. The advantage of using a relief ruck is that we have an extra running player which can come in very handy.
  12. If we had have won that game against Richmond we would have simply lost to Freo in the next few rounds. Draft picks 1 & 2 delivered. So while Jordan was handy for us he wouldn't have dee-railed our plans
  13. It was a different leg, not a re-occurring injury.
  14. Disgraceful, ignorant post
  15. patience grasshopper....
  16. Was due to play in the two's and got a virus. Is right now I believe.
  17. Yeah right. OK guys no helmets on motorbikes any more, Skipper 3 says its OK!!
  18. He might have been matched up on Burton for a bit but Bruce was on him for most of the first half from what I can recall. And not every defender is going to stop every fwd from kicking a goal!
  19. Yeah Blease is a hack as well. Hasn't made it so cut him
  20. What is important is that we are learning what it takes to be in games until the end. Running, running and more running. We now have a minimum standard that we cannot dip below in terms of effort. We will get beaten by better class sides but will keep learning from those experiences.
  21. Joel MacDonald might have something to prove this week. Let's hope he does to Brisbane what ex-Melbourne players have always done to us. I seem to remember Farmer, Brian Wilson and a few others killing us in the past when playing back against us.
  22. I accept all the apologies on behalf of my namesake
  23. I agree with your top 6 but its not one that will instill fear into opposition just yet.
  24. They can have Jame Spencer (whoever he is) I'll keep Jake Spencer.
