Particularly the ones who make the same mistakes week in week out. Good job chap.

Surely Hunt Deserves a Rising Star Nomination
jnrmac replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
When it first started it was for the 1st year player (subject to the qualifications of age and games played) that was likely to be a future star. It has morphed into a best first year player and IMO is a bastard of an award. If you want to award the best first year player then get rid of the stupid weekly nomination as the criteria for eligibility. Perhaps have a weekly award and then award the rising star to anyone that fits the age and game criteria. Histroy shows it is virtually impossible for anyone nominated after rd 12 to win it. From memory this has only occured 2or 3 times and rd 15 has been the latest. Someone nominated in round 24 can't win it. So the reality is it is the best first year player that is nominated by round 12. Stupid. -

No I am not at all and I didn't imply that. I simply compared their stats for the year. -
Gold. The most hated player in the AFL along with Lindsay Thomas and Boomer.....

I think Oscar stacks up against Weitering very well going purely by stats. Not that stats are the be all and end all. -
Pretty sure I heard last night that Hibberd was in the rooms before the EFC game and that Jobe and the boys had been texting the EFC players after their victory. Isn't contact banned between the banned players and the players and the administration of the club? If so that is appalling and shows just how much the AFL thinks of CAS/ASADA/WADA and how much the rules don't apply to them.

It's a crock of an award but I doubt this would happen. The whole nomination process is flawed as is the fact that anyone nominated after round 12 has virtually no chance of winning. -
Has he been shown the door? Is that official? Can't see it anywhere online.... And would we want him? No. 3 recos? nup. What's the point?

Just watched the first half again and was impressed with Bugg's work. A lot of it goes unoticed but his shepherds and blocks are great. Numerous times he sets up at the stoppages to stop Westhoff going 3rd man up and countless times he is a link in a chain of possessions. Knows where to run. I reckon he is very under-rated around here.

You sure a Krazy Jay....

Very smarmy unneccesary comment 55 Watts took 8 years to become a reliable performer. I hope for all our sakes that he is nothing like Jack Watts because we wouldn't want to wait 8 years before he becomes a reliable defender.

It will probably be hard for us to get 4 nominations....but I guess we are the youngest team going around...... -

Daniel won't get it. Not enough raw talent. Plenty of heart and has had a good year but little x factor. And besides they have been burned by Lewis Taylor. They will go for talent and there is a big pool to choose from. Top 4 will be: Mills, Petracca, Moore and Oliver -
I agree with the effort. They all tried hard for four quarters. But they did play poorly. VDB worries me. Had one really good game against Gold Coast and a number of poor ones. Harmes also did well against Hawthorn but has had anumber of poor ones. Kent had some shocking turnovers but was involved in a lot of play

I agree wholeheartedly with this. Watch them pull some names out of a hat? Brisbane had a win as did Ess. McDonald Tipungwuti? Same here. Horrible. And horrible umpiring and MRP

Actually we had a number of poor players. Harmes, VBD, Viney (who was well tagged) and Hogan. Pederson was just serviceable and Watts was well below best. Petracca had little impact as well. Kent only had one tackle and made a couple of huge blunders. There is a lot of improvement and our side didn't play well IMO. Very happy to win away against a very physical side but I think you are off the money with your comment. I can see Harmes, VDB or Pederson making way.

Would prefer ANB to replace Vanders and agree with Salem for Harmes.

Swap for Weitering?

I also liked the way Port tried to rough us up and it just looked kinda pathetic.
-
It was a good win but gee we had a lot of players who were down and our kicking for goal was atrocious. It's always hard to win on the road and we should savour it but it was far from a complete performance. I did like the way we weren't playing that well in the second half but kept up the pressure.
