  1. This wouldn't apply to a Hogan on a fixed contract. More like an actor, artist or musician that has variable earnings over a 2-3 year period. My real point here is that once tax etc is taken into account the difference between a Melbourne offer of say $1m pa and a Freo at say $1.2m pa is minimised significantly. Some might take the extra $100k a year others might not be swayed by that and all of the pressure it entails when they can stay and likely play finals without any greater pressure than they are under already.... Ultimately if he wants to go home he will but my undertstanding is he like living here and likes the music scene etc. He stays for mine.
  2. Are you a public servant? Welcome to the real world. People pay tax
  3. The club has to be tight lipped at this time. There is so much garbage being put out there by 'journos' that have to fill column inches. If they responded to every wacky rumour they would need more staff.
  4. When the smoke is the media vultures like McClure, Ralph and co I can ignore it quite easily. @Moonshadow is right though, we'll know soon enough....
  5. Agreed and FWIW I think It's all bunk. He stays.
  6. You miss the point. For a start he pays tax at 49% and he pays a management company min of 2.5%. No one is dangling a $5m cheque. And Melbourne will negotiate a decent offer - that may not match another offer but would minimise the difference again to, say $100k a year after tax. Then there are the intangibles.............
  7. Everyone needs to chill. He hasn't met with the club yet. It's all clickbait at this point
  8. He will not have a $5m cheque put in front of him. Don't over-egg the pudding.
  9. So 50/50 at best?

Thx NEW POSTER mrs Tyson. I call BS on both assertions. They would be insane to knock back that deal

    You really are Krazy
  12. 7 players gone so far plus Kent makes 8 and maybe Garlett, Tyson (both my guess) to be traded out...that's a pretty big clean out for a team reaching a prelim. I suspect more and more players will be nominating Melbourne as a destination which is a long overdue situation to be in....the NQRs of the past are getting less and less. Jason Taylor has proven to be a deft hand at fashioning good deals to get us what we need..
  13. Like last year, the club went to ground and didn't speak about the shocking rd 23 loss until briefly in the New Year. This horrendous loss seems to have been swept under the carpet as well altho TBH I am not sure what they can say. It's actions we need to see as Daniher says "when all is said and done, more is said than done"

Jordan Gallucci? The guy who looks like he has stepped straight out of the Village People? Not happening.
  15. It's all click bait. Stop feeding it.
  16. He was Bruce McAvaney's plus 1
  17. So Garlett finished above Sam Weideman Alex Neal-Bullen Dom Tyson Sam Frost Aaron VandenBerg Joel Smith Tom Bugg Mitch Hannan Dean Kent Charlie Spargo Bernie Vince Josh Wagner Perhaps we need to look at the voting system....
  18. This is inexplicable. Watching the ball switched by WCE to unmarked players was infuriating. Finals is one on one footy -and that is our strength. Unfarkingbelievable.
  19. There are no guarantees we will be back in prelim next year for those that think we are on an upwards trajectory........
  20. Zero intensity or physical pressure. Turning circle of the Queen Mary. He is not the reason we lost by the way but when things aren't working for us in the midfield we need to have a defender that can defend one on one and it ain't Oscar.
  21. What was the final free kick count?
