  1. Ah well he's clearly happy with Mark Neeld and what he's doing for the club, unless you're being sarcastic
  2. There's definitely a place for rowdiness at the footy but only as long as there are smiles too. If anyone gives you a hard time remember you have thousands of mates wearing the same colours as you. Don't let the [censored] control you and alert an authority figure if it gets too bad
  3. If we could change captaincy mid-season, I'd give it to Jones or back to Green. Or perhaps to Moloney or Davey. Seriously why can't we give it to a player who doesn't just play for the Melbourne Football Club but IS the Melbourne Football Club. Grimes and Trengove are good young players but by no means have hit any heights in their careers and should concentrate on their form
  4. And just for the record, why should I stand up and applaud Neeld when we have lost all of our games, we are sitting at the bottom, which was surely unthinkable pre-season. Actually, many of you who are happy with where we are now wouldn't have been had you been told pre-season. A lot of you probably thought Neeld would give us at least more wins than our last two Bailey seasons. If you as a supporter are always comfortable accepting where we are at then you are accepting failure. If we don't win a game for the season some people will still use "rebuilding" "List management" "Adapting for the long run", coincidentally these are the same nutcases who talk about the draft early on in the season. Yes ooo lets look at the 2028 draft, hmm that Jamison RIchards looks a good choice, oooo he's got a hard body just what we need going forward in 16 years..ooo maybe our grandkids will get to see a premiership but that's ok cause I don't care if i'm dead as long as it happens. Ooo I wonder can we pick Jamison's son Bradford in the 2058 draft? ooo I hear he's got his dad's toughness but he can play forward too
  5. I must say I like him as a person and he's the right man but I really don't see much hope in the way we are playing, apart from when we kick it to Clark 1-on-1 and run through the middle. He needs to start dropping players who can't kick, as they are killing us as we are trying to play slowish footy around the lines. However we are constantly turning it over and are too slow and not getting enough of the ball. The good news is that players like Howe seem to have much more confidence, as well as Davey who seems rejuvenated, though it doesn't show on the stats sheet he has been one of our top players. It seems Neeld is trying to get a group of players and try and turn them into something rather than dropping based on form and changing it around. I await the return of Green and Jurrah to our forward line. I think Grimes and Trengove are down in form, which coincidentally happened to Green last year after he was given the captaincy. Maybe we should give the captaincy to a crap player? Food for thought. P.S- Mark Neeld wears glasses so he seems smart.
  6. Matthew Lloyd, the most robotic man imaginable as our coach? I'd rather him come out of retirement to play for us
  7. I just can't understand how we can get murdered in the possession count to such extents. (424-259) What ever happened to Moloney, Trengove, McKenzie and others getting 20 something possessions every game. Out of our midfield only Jones seems to be firing in comparison with last year (and on a side note Magner is doing pretty well too)
  8. Makes me think of us doing a Trengove-Dangerfield swap. Trengove back to SA, Dangerfield back to VIC. Could work if they're both homesick. Not saying I want Trengove to leave but...you know, I'd be more happy with Dangerfield in the scintillating form he's in. However players do look worse in a red and blue jumper..could just be an illusion. (Or we can just give Bate, Dunn and Morton for Dangerfield. Michael Newton to come out of retirement as a bonus package We got to the top in 2013, Crows go to the bottom.)
  9. I agree that I fear for what the Hawks could do. We have been an incredibly low possession side this season and they kick the ball around with ease like the air is made of cream. I feel for us to beat the Hawks we need to be quick down the corridor and isolate Clark with Schoenmakers or another forward/defender combination
  10. 186- The biggest 3-digit tragedy since 911. That's a good way of putting it. Well done.
  11. Keep Sellar in the team ahead of Martin. Sellar won't win anywhere near as much of the ball but seems to be a harder body and not as much of a liability and I think he's been half decent and provided a contest. Martin isn't good enough to fit into our defensive or forward structures and he would demand more time in the ruck which isn't good for Jamar because I think have Sellar in the team gives Jamar 80-90% ruck time whereas Martin would only give him 60-70%. Jamar has a good engine and can easily out tap his opponents
  12. I'm very confused about Watts. He played every game last year, kicked 21 goals for the season and set up a lot, averaged over 16 possessions a game and seemed to have a steady improvement, and was deservedly placed in the top ten of our B&F. From what I have seen this year his form has slightly dropped off and there are still weaknesses such as his toughness and his ability to lead from the fifty. But I do think he is in our top 10 best players and is a talented guy, I feel that his dropping must be illogical and it's a bold move. I'd like to see him back on Friday night and hopefully the week off has made him hungrier for success. I do not want to see him out for extended lengths because I feel we are disadvantaged. Could Neeld be a bit unsettled by Watts and more sceptical about him compared with Bailey's attitude to developing him? Time will tell. Keep in mind that Watts has played 42 consecutive games. Excuse me for continuing the Watts-Riewoldt comparison, but in Riewoldt's 2002 season (his 2nd) and Watts' 2011 (his 3rd, I know in that sense the comparison is off but Watts was a younger draftee and hardly had a 2009 season) they both played every game and kicked the same number (21 goals). Watts had more of the ball and Riewoldt took more marks. But I think that is a good enough indication to suggest that Watts will be a key force in about 2 years, providing he continues the little things he does well, improves his marking capabilities (we have seen him take a few good grabs before) and finding the ball inside fifty. I still see a good forward set up with Watts, Jurrah, Clark, Green and Petterd, along with Howe and Davey that hasn't been available for sussing this season (Bye bye Dunn and perhaps Bate)
  13. Are we meant to be sad that Bate and Dunn are on the list? I'd say it's about time we moved both of them on
  14. In- A new stand behind the goals at the right of screen, Liam Jurrah, a new Prime Minister, Adem Yze, Jim Stynes' wisdom, Jack Watts and a full moon Out- Lynden Dunn, deforestation, cancer, starving african children, corporate greed, underwear with holes in them and moon-landing conspiracies
  15. You'd find a considerably less amount of stuck up old people among the GA members However if you are an MCC member sitting there should be preferable just for the better view
  16. I definitely agree that I saw progress last week. I thought our first half was alright and then the third quarter the crowd were seriously involved! Our problem was we got within one point but couldn't keep sustained pressure from there. The Dogs were just a bit quicker than us and a bit more skilled. The thing that really disappointed me was when Morton snapped that goal to get us within 16 points with plenty of time left we really didn't try as hard as we did in the third. We wasted heaps of opportunities going forward (though what didn't help was Clark's injury) when I thought we could have won the match. To sum it up, we contested well and our pressure was at a high but continue to make skill errors regularly and not get enough of the ball.
  17. All I could ask for is for us to give the man a fair go, if he's fit, play him because we desperately need some talent in our team. Is it too much to suggest that he might actually come out a better player from all of this?
  18. Yeah, and we really had him in the team to play a negating role! Even if he held Murphy all their other defenders seemed to have plenty of room. Plus, a couple of goals from him would've been nice in the last quarter after Clark went off. He dribbled the ball into the post from point blank range at a crucial stage. Dunn had a good 2010 but if he's not gonna reach that form again he'll forever just be an average player who doesn't deserve to be in the side.
  19. I was a fan of him when he was on triple m but he was really garbage last night. Partially ruined the game with his commentary. I'm really not a fan of him or Hamish McLachlan on tv. Dennis and Bruce are by far the best TV commentators
  20. Out- McDonald, Dunn In- Petterd, Grimes Dunn was quite awful and McDonald looks like our biggest liability in defence. Morton's still a bit of a question mark regarding his ball use and toughness but he had a good final term. I thought Joel MacDonald was pretty good
  21. Have been very impressed with Clark but he just needs to be a little smarter around goals. He missed one from the top of the goal square and he played on and turned it over from point blank range in another incident. I'm really glad we have him though.
  22. So we were about anything but football last year, yet still playing far better than this year? Completely makes sense Malthouse
  23. We should probably drop Martin, leave Jamar for almost all of the rucking (He's shown to have done that well in the past). And use Sellar/Clark as relief (as they have both played important roles in the ruck at their old clubs)
