  1. Keep in mind that we can make up to 3 changes between games, which I think we will certainly do cause we have plenty of players available. I think Green, Bate, Dunn, Moloney and Sylvia are our top 5 super-goal kickers. Not that it really matters...
  2. 10-12 now? I heard Frawley say he's a chance to get back for round 1, 10-12 certainly means he wont
  3. Tomorrow's news: RUMOUR- Sheedy offers James McDonald 15 million a year to come out of retirement and captain GWS!
  4. Thanks, they better not hide Liam Jurrah in a back corner again as they have in the past two seasons.
  5. Yeah that is an alternative although I'm only 16. The game will certainly be a messy one to watch/listen to anyway
  6. I had a good look at him at the intra club game. He let off a high-pitched squeal as he tried to keep the ball in play in front of me on the wing. He still looks very skinny, but a more muscular-skinny instead of the footy-jumper-doesn't-look-right-on-him skinny. He is also increasingly looking like Murray from the Wiggles, but I doubt that'll affect his game.
  7. Barring injury, Liam Jurrah will certainly be a "star" in the next few years. If he isn't already. This will certainly be enhanced if we are floating around the top 4. James Frawley will be a star defender, Tom Scully will be a star midfielder, another dominant season from Mark Jamar and he'll certainly be a star ruckman. Brad Green has been a very good player for most of his career, but his last season has certainly gotten him closer to that 'star' mark. Jack Watts is another who I think has the potential to be a star half forward player. As for ones in recent history, I certainly regard David Neitz to be a star in the confines of the melbourne football club. Outside, he is just a very good, champion player.
  8. Honestly, I don't think we'll win either game. We have to play the first two without a break and therefore unfairly advantaged in my opinion. It's stupid that we're in Adelaide and we're the team that has to play two in a row! And secondly, it's horrible that its the first match and the game isn't on free to air, but I guess ill just listen on the radio. And it's fair to expect a very young team to run out for us.
  9. To be honest I think that was just Strauss having a bit of fun, however, I think the torp should definitely be implemented into our game plan, if placed and excecuted correctly it can break the zone defence apart and create free space in the middle of the ground which definitely helps us with our running style of game play
  10. Thanks for clarifying the rules, but i have no idea how this is 'breaking news'.
  11. I've got an idea. The game should be moved to that field of red dust in Yuendumu where Jurrah played!
  12. I couldn't agree more! A lot of supporters who had jumpers from last year compared with the 2011 ones, there are is a huge difference! If you look on the Melbourne website, however, the jumpers of Davey and Green look very red. I propose the red on demonland becomes a bit more pink to be in conjunction with our guernsey
  13. I was there today, it was a quite poor game in terms of a spectacle and the jumper-swapping thing made it hard to comprehend. The final score was blue- 5.5 35 to white- 5.7 37 I THINK, although the score didnt matter much it all, clearly the original white players wouldve won by a lot had there been no jumper swapping. Here's my take on a few players- Kelvin Lawrence- Looks lively but still a while away from being a strong competitor. Did a nice ripping run through the middle at one point. Michael Evans- Looks like a really promising roving-type for the future. Played some good minutes in the middle and kicked a nice goal. Max Gawn- Played a strong role in the ruck and up forward. Kicked a goal early on, won some free kicks in the ruck and showed plenty of potential. Jack Watts- Probably best on ground along with Scully. Picked up possession after possession, kicked 2 goals including a snap where he spun around past an opponent. Sam Blease- Picked up plenty of possessions in the first quarter, playing in the back pocket. Looks promising. In general id say best players were Watts, Scully, Trengove, Sylvia and Rivers.
  14. I'm surprised Jones isn't playing. Funny story actually, on Monday morning i was in the city, and I saw the Dees training at Gosch's paddock so I got off the train and watched them do their private training session. Unfortunately it finished soon after I got there, but afterwards Max Gawn and Nathan Jones were doing intense running drills and I said hi to them. Jones looked fighting fit
  15. BLUE 3 - Clint Bartram 10 - Cale Morton 13 - Jordie McKenzie 14 - Lynden Dunn 16 - Jack Grimes 20 - Colin Garland 21 - Lucas Cook 22 - Brent Moloney 33 - Matt Fieldsend (Casey) 34 - Stefan Martin 38 - Micheal Riseley (Casey) 39 - Neville Jetta 41 - Gus Patti (Casey) 42 - Jake Spencer 43 - Luke McKenna (Casey) 44 - Rohan Bail 45 - Kelvin Lawrence 46 - Sam Blease 47 - Luke Beehugo (Casey) 49 - Jed Costigan (Casey) 50 - Tim Costigan (Casey) 52 - Cameron Johnston WHITE 4 - Jack Watts 6 - Matthew Bate 9 - Jack Trengove 12 - Colin Sylvia 15 - Ricky Petterd 19 - Addam Maric 27 - Jared Rivers 28 - Joel MacDonald 29 - Aaron Purves (Casey) 30 - Tom McNamara 31 - Tom Scully 35 - Wade Lees (Casey) 37 - Max Gawn 38 - Jeremy Howe 40 - Mark Jamar 41 - Luke Hill (Casey) 43 - Tom McDonald 47 - James Strauss 48 - Mark Weekes (Casey) 49 - Daniel Nicholson 50 - Michael Evans 52 - Mark Todd (Casey)
  16. I think Aussie shouldve been given a shot over a couple of GWS fools.
  17. count me in. Dream team is FAR better than supercoach, sorry if that comment causes some heated discussion.
  18. Expect Jurrah to explode on Friday night. Not literally, like he is prone to in pre-season games, but in the sense that he will be best on ground.
  19. I too was at Casey Fields last year and yeah it was a fantastic environment on a saturday afternoon, plenty of fans, barbeques going etc. Having said that, it's very hard for me to get there and its only an intra club match afterall.
  20. It's such a stupid fixture for us to open the NAB CUP against Adelaide and Port and not on free to air! And it's very unlikely that we could progress to the next round, not that it matters anyway
  21. That was Round 14, 2008 when Melbourne beat the Lions by a point?
  22. Ahhh so many! To begin our whole year was a highlight in itself, proving that we are now a contender and on the rise. But I can't go past our match against the Lions in Round 5, breaking their streak of 4-0. I remember being at the game and the atmosphere was magnificent as Trengove, Scully, Moloney and Frawley all starred. and Frawley's performance as a whole on Brown was a sight to behold. Jurrah's mark in Round 21 and goal in round 20 were real standouts too. And Brad Green's career-best season as a whole. Our second half comeback in Round 3 against Adelaide, brought upon under the influence of James Mcdonald as well.
  23. Tomorrow? Awesome! I'm hoping Green is chosen to be honest, Davey should be vice but I think Green looks more like a natural leader than Davey on the field. It's a bit tricky since we have Moloney, Davey and Green all aged between 27-29 vying for the spot. So it's probably wise that after 4 years or so that it is handed down to Grimes, Frawley, Trengove or Scully
