  1. Colqhoun for sure. So composed, lovely weighted kick off half-back. Was the one for me that stood out for SA in the championships. Sets up the play from the back. Neeld may think he is a bit on the light side though. I like him more than Strauss as he gets more involved. A bit like a young General.
  2. Had some good games for the Hawks in the midfield. http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/4742/newsid/143789/default.aspx http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/4742/newsid/143013/default.aspx "Grimes is Great" on Demonland said we were looking at Jones.
  3. At training today I heard from Strauss that Hogans nickname is Hoges ala (Paul Hogan)
  4. Quigley finally has his mock draft up on BigFooty. Always an interesting read. Doesn't seem to rate Wines like the messiah some posters seem to think he is. It's a long read but a goody with some interesting picks for us, Enjoy. http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/quigleys-2012-mock.980920/
  5. Finey had a draft special on SEN tonight with the draft experts Brett Anderson (Inside Football), Nigel Carmody and Mick Ablett. They believe that GWS is not sold on Toumpas and may go for Whitfield and then some positional players such as Plowman and Menzel to compliment the plethera of mids they already have. They think MFC will take Wines no matter what and the Bulldogs could end up the winners with Toumpas and O'Rourke.
  6. McDonough smashed it in the Championships. Reminded me of a young Jason Dunstall. A footballers footballer this kid. Always gets involved, hard to match up on and a beautiful kick for goal. I mentioned him and Sam Colqhoun to Mark Neeld at one of the coached forums. They were real standouts or SA in the Championships. Of course we need some real pace to compliment what we have. Tipungwuti, Wilkins, Nelson and Ballard seem to meet this criteria but I'd hate to pass on McDonough as he has the attributes to turn a game. Also reminds me a bit of Tom Rockliff. Not the perfect body shape before draft time (and when he trained with us in 2008) but you knew he could really play.
  7. Had a good look at Tynan yesterday> He never stopped talking to Hogan during their drills with Evans. They seem like mates already. Josh has a good developing upperbody but has sticks for legs at this stage. Hogan oozed confidence with a slightly bow legged swagger that some might say borders on cockiness. A combination of Allen Jackovich and Ross Dillon I hope. Or a current day Jonathon Brown. Could be really good this kid.
  8. Don't forget our own Freddie Clutterbuck had an outstanding season in the WAFL. http://www.wafootball.com.au/wafl/3359-royal-clutterbucks-full-attention-on-getting-into-finals
  9. If anyone resigned it is tantamount to being guilty. The press would have a field day and the AFL would be forced into giving santions. Stick fat, deny everything and say very little.
  10. Stiller is 26yrs 6 mths old. Played 3 games in 2012 and averages 15 disposals. His career average is only 17 disposals. http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pc-brisbane-lions--cheynee-stiller
  11. We all have this love for Wines because he wants to be at MFC, he's Jacks mate and he fits the Neeld mould. We also had the same love for Watts and Scully before draft time. Whoever we pick and have the love for never or rarely live up to the expections we thust upon them. If just maybe we miss on Wines the next likely mid O'Rourke may very well turn out a better player. O'Rourke is an inside and outside mid with exquisite skills. A beautiful kick and a good decision maker. Has great pace and the ability to burst away from packs. They say he is a better kick than Wines. Because MFC have a history of picking the wrong player maybe if it's taken out of their hands they may end up with a diamond instead of a cubic zirconia.
  12. I have this strong feeling that GWS will take Whitfield, Toumpas and Wines. I wouldn't be surprised if we picked O'Rourke or Macrae. Knightmare has us picking O'Rourke. There is still a lot to choose from with Stringer, Grundy, Mayes, Kennedy and Menzel.
  13. In a comment to KB 403 last week, Greg Swan said (after KB mentioned tanking) that Brock was a last minute replacement for an un-named player. Really got the impression that everyone at Carton were surprised with Brocks comments and were not expecting it.
  14. In these trying times I think we should pick up third place getter for the Calder Cannons Robert Hyde Medal: Darcy Bailey Heard on Finey last night that Dean's son is a chance to be drafted this year. Late selection or rookie. How ironic would it be if we drafted him.
  15. Terry Wallace on more than one occassion has said on radio that he failed to make moves in a Richmond game because he knew the Club wanted to draft Cotchin. Surely this is as blatent as it gets.
  16. Hope not. He's nothing more than a witches hat out on the ground. The change to the ruck rules won't be advantageous to Spencer.
  17. Believe or don't believe but I was told that the leadership group wanted Steph out. Not fully committed and another one that didn't "buy in".
  18. Of that group Davey is the only one contracted until 2013. The others are OOC come 31 Oct. A smart move by the Club would be to offer 1yr contracts for fringe players that are OOC. Sellar was on a 1yr and may accept another. Bartram may accept a 1 yr and possibly Davis and Spencer. Apart from Davey, players OOC in 2013 Fitzy,Taggert, Tynan, Gawn are must keeps at this stage.
  19. How will Spencer go? They'll jump all over him, that's if he is quick enough to get to the contest. He's looking prehistoric to me. Gawn an Fitzpatrick at least have the height and athleticism to compete. Neeld/Harrington should never have given Jamar 3 years. Big mistake.
  20. Cam Mooney believes what we have done may get us to 9th or 10th on the ladder but will not take us any further. Says we need to develop our kids the right way not short term quick fixes with older players.
  21. Plus Michael Long aka Dom Barry
  22. They also said we would have been better off keeping pick 3 for Toumpas and use pick 4 on Wines and 13 for next best available and 26 on Viney.
  23. Hawks pick up Jed Anderson from GWS for Gilham. Why the hell couldn't we have used Martin or Pettard for this trade. We pick up "Dads Army" and they pick up a Jet.
  24. Can't see this happening. Davey and possibly Martin are the only likely delisting next year. All other players coming out of contract i.e Watts, Sylvia, Grimes, Taggert, Gawn, Tynan, and Fitzpatrick are "must keeps" at this stage. Very little room to move next year. Most players are coming out of contract in 2014.
  25. With Gysberts and Morton gone the only obvious delisting next year is Davey and possibly Martin if he is not traded today. Doesn't look like a smart approach to me because they will have next to no room to move with delistings. Can't see them wanting to move on Watts, Sylvia, Grimes, Taggert, Fitzpatrick Gawn and Tynan next year.
