WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CAMERON PEDERSEN
Theo replied to Hannibal's topic in Melbourne Demons
Smacks of desperation by the Dees. It looks like Pederson was a "must have" no matter what the cost. Obviously clearing the decks with Morton and Cook. We now need some run and spread players with hurt factor. Can't see it happening this trade period. -
Has Rodan only got a 1 year deal? I thought I saw somewhere it was 2 yrs.
-
Keep him, unless we can get a pick in the 20's. Have a feeling Gysberts could be a valuable player in years to come. Don't know what the rush is to get rid of him.
-
Terry Wallet on Trade Radio Just said MFC must take Wines if available. Barrett suspect it could be part of the Hogan done deal.
-
What evidence do you have that Royal is a bad coach. Midfield players praised him at the B&F. Is Aaron Greaves any good because he's the other midfield coach. Is he crap too. Just maybe they're getting the best they can out of a mediocre lot.
-
Great kid but been treading water for four years. Doesn't impact games, low possessions , not quick, no hurt factor, tackles a lot because he is never first to the ball. A real spectator on the field. But a lovlier guy you couldn't meet.
-
That's interesting Ron. I had a chat with Taggert and Tynan in Darwin because they were recently out of the TAC Cup system.I asked them whether the club as ever sought their input into players that they rate or may have heard good reports on. They both said that the club has never asked them. Maybe they are starting to be proactive. I would have thought it would be a good strategy for the club to be getting input from players as most of them would have a good knowledge of players from their recruiting zone.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CAMERON PEDERSEN

Fully agree. Pederson at 58 is the lowest we should go. If Koby Stevens is in Neeld's sights, offer 49 with or without Bennell. We paid overs for Hogan with 3 &13 (with Barry) . Most notable phantom drafts have him (Barry) as a late pick. Pick 3 should have been enough for Hogan not tied in with pick 13. -
This article relating to the Cats says that if you have 40 on your primary list you can only have 4 Cat A Rookies. http://www.afl.com.au/tabid/208/default.aspx?newsid=149119 The Cats can keep their 2 Cat B Rookies.
-
A Club can have 4 rookies as Category A (Primary List Rookies) and can also have 3 Category B Rookies (Development and International). You can also list one Irish rookie on your primary list without going through the draft. http://mm.afl.com.au...ookiesAug14.pdf Collingwood have just listed a Cat B Rookie from Tasmania 2 days ago. Refer: http://www.afl.com.a...57/default.aspx With 18 Clubs it is time to look at other ways of accessing talent without going through a draft bidding system. MFC don't have any Cat B rookies but may need to explore this in the future. At the moment we have 6 primary list rookies: Nicholson, Magner, Couch, Williams, Evans and Sheahan. If reports are true that Sheahan has been moved on we still have to delist or upgrade another rookie to meet our 2013 quota. Nicholson is likely to be upgraded, therefore to participate in the rookie draft further upgrades or delistings will have to occur.

Has asked to be traded to the Dogs. Source: Superfooty.

This could go on Pederson which is probably overs. The much hated (on this site) Terry Wallace says that North would take anything for him even a 3rd or 4th rounder. If we pay overs which some reports indicate we have for Dawes and Barry then our trade result may not be as good as Collingwood and Geelong seem to have done. It would be a great result if we kept the FA compo pick for Ray or Broughton or the ND.
-
I'd be happy if they upgraded Nicholson with our last pick 80+ but definitely not Magner or Couch as I can't see them being in our best 22. Another year on the rookie list for me at best. Sheahan could be upgraded but there is no need at this stage either. Jade Rawlings said at a function I attended in July that he has a way to go. Leigh Williams and Evans are the interesting ones that could surprise this year. Williams is strong enough to play forward or even back and with another pre-season he could be competing for a senior spot. in 2013. It fit, Evans could be a better bet than Couch and Magner. If they pick-up Pederson I hope they have a smokey in mind that could be our "diamond in the rough". at pick 60+. I have this feeling that they just may have.

How about this kid. Could be available for a late pick. #72 North Melbourne - Anthony Tipungwuti (NT – Fwd/Def) Height: 174cm, Weight: 72kg, DOB: 22/04/1993 Recruited from: Gippsland Power Style: Player comparison: Range: 50-rookie Profile: Really special player. Has sensational pace and enjoys taking opposition players on like few others can. Really evasive and can create time easily. Duel sided. Good skill set. Not a tall lad, but gee he can play! Still needs to build an endurance base but that will come. Can play back or forward and has a Leon Davis type feel to his game that makes him exciting regardless of where he plays. or #75 West Coast - Shannon Taylor (WA –Fwd/ Mid) Height: 177cm, Weight: 72kg, DOB: 05/02/1994 Recruited from: Claremont Style: Player comparison: Kirk Ugle (Taller) Range: 35-rookie Profile: Taylor is an absolute speedster with unbelievable pace and agility. At the 2011 draft combine managed the best times for the 10m, 20m sprints, repeat sprints and agility. Tackling game is solid but has the potential to be elite in this area of his game with his pace. Picks the ball up cleanly, has clean hands and has some hurt factor but kicking while sometimes lacking consistency is mostly good. Physically still has a long way to go and still has an incomplete game but it seems to be coming. Endurance is building and he can now play for greater periods through the midfield and have an influence. Also despite his lean build Taylor has surprising ball winning ability which is encouraging. Taylor at the next level is probably most suited to a role as a small forward but with his improved play through the midfield it looks like he could also spend some minutes on a wing and do some damage there. Probably hasn’t improved as much as expected this year but still plenty to work with. or #66 Port Adelaide – Tom Temay (VIC – Mid/Def) Height: 179cm, Weight: 74kg, DOB: 06/02/1994 Recruited from: Sandringham Dragons Style: Player Comparison: Range: 30-70 Profile: Temay is a midfielder and defender with the ability to play a variety of roles. Temay has shown throughout the u18 championships that he has the ability to cleanly use the ball out of the back half. Strong 1v1 player. Kicking skills are above average and at times set up some meaningful drive. Decision making also very good. Temay also at times has shown the ability to play some shutdown roles through the midfield or down back, most notably on Lachie Whitfield who he competed very well against. Temay through the midfield is more of an outside/linkup type but does have some ball winning ability and isn’t a soft outside player. and lastly #64 Melbourne – Anthony Bonaddio (VIC – Mid/Fwd) Height: 174cm, Weight: 73kg, DOB: 06/01/1994 Recruited from: Northern Knights Style: Player comparison: Range: 45-rookie Profile: Really like what Bonaddio can do. High production midfielder who has been good for some time. Big time ball winner through the midfield. Can win his own ball while also getting some outside ball. Has great pace and if given time and space can hurt you. Skill level exceptionally high and has big hurt factor by foot with the penetration he has on his kick. When he sneaks forward is very much a goal scoring threat. The way these write-ups are done you wonder why their not top 20.

At the B&F Royal was signaled out on two occassions by midfield players. Can't recall any praise given to other coaches.
-
If Rivers can't get a buyer we offer him a one year contract with the knowledge that he will be still a FA next year and may look elsewhere should he wish to.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/149639/default.aspx This kid could be available in the 3rd round. Run and carry type mentioned in a few other posts. Beat Trent Croads standing vertical jump. A good Age 22. If we took Grundy for instance this kid could be ready to go.
-
If Grundy was available I would take him. Mids come on quicker therefore we can be patient for the best mids next year. Viney and Taggert and Jones etc may do for now. Dominant big men are hard to find and this kids got the hallmarks of one of the best. Taking the emotional pull that some have for Wines, I think Grundy is easily the best if available at pick 4. I would love Plowman as well because I don't think our backline is as good as people make out however, unfortunately we can't do it all this year.

Will become an unrestricted free agent. This is what was said about him at draft time 2008. Snoops Phantom Draft: # 43 North Melbourne - Mitch Banner (Western Jets / 178 / 77) Every year I pick a footballer that I just love. Usually they are a contested footy winner who gets a fair bit of it and uses it well (Adams / Batsanis / Hurley / Kelly) are past winners of my adulation). This year it is Banner. Unfortunately these types usually fall much lower than I have them – if they get selected at all! So with Banner I have deliberately dropped him 20 spots from where I would otherwise have him. Massive possession – had over 40 touches in one game which is very rare at TAC level. Terrific at the clearances and uses the ball very well. Won Western jets B&F last year. Can play. 26. RICHMOND - MITCH BANNER The Tigers get a ball winning, clearance machine they are looking for. Mitch has the ability to contribute straight away and will be valuable in the clinches to feed the likes of Deledio, Cotchin, Foley, Edwards in the future. I rate him as having one of the best leadership skills, he will develop into a fine leader down at Punt Road. With Kane Johnson at the end, he will slot in nicely taking over his role. Another comment: Probably on my own on this one, but Mitch Banner has the best skills in the draft. Its just his decision making that lets him down. But both sides of the feet, at any distance to 55m, he will hit them. Just when he is under pressure he tends to just try and kick it forward to anywhere foj1 PD Hawthorn Pick 66 Mitchell Banner The Hawks get a reliable, hard working midfielder who is capable of winning a stack of the footy. Banner has done everything asked of him this year both in the Nationals and in the TAC cup. I have a slight concern over Banner’s kicking as he sometimes throws the ball on the boot in a rush and he needs to kicker stronger and flatter in the AFL but they are areas he can work on. Will be a very good VFL footballer- the question is can he cut it in the AFL? ******************************************************************************** Comments on the Port BigFooty Board Yesterday: Banner (despite form in SANFL reserves, paper marked a long way back after being rejected senior appearances with the Magpies. Could be argued that papers were marker alot earlier then that) Probably more than 50% of the Banner frustration has been because we've seen so many 'spuds' continue to play instead while we were told Mitch wasn't working on the defensive side of his game enough for the Pies, fair enough considering that was Primus' game plan, but that was the other frustrating thing that wasn't working out. We were begging to see him given a run at AFL level this year. I can see him kicking over a dozen goals next year for someone else which may not sound like much but his first year somewhere new, still young and rotating through, I see him being good and getting better. Maybe his ability has not transferred to AFL. Some question over his kicking ability under pressure. There could be a number of reasons or maybe he just isn't up to it. Didn't play a game this year. Becomes an unrestricted FA. Bye the Bye the hatred for Peter Rohde is intense over there. Reckon he's stuffed up the Club.

From the bottom of a sauce bottle – 3 way trade
Theo replied to Number 2's topic in Melbourne Demons
What if Whitfield, Toumpas and Wines are the first 3 picks. Do we take Grundy. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRIS DAWES
Theo replied to Norm Smith's Curse's topic in Melbourne Demons
Trade Radio said Dawes is nothing more than a mid 20's pick. Why not just trade Martin and pick 20 to the pies for Dawes and their pick 17. Seems fair. -
Just announced on SEN. Jacobs is seeking a trade to Victoria.
-
One more year for Cale unless a great trade offer looms. Has a chance to improve his trade value with another pre-season.
-
Somewhat agree. Matera should have has 3 goals in 3 minutes when we played them at the MCG. Panics under pressure, shows no composure and does not go in hard enough. So far a weak link in the backline. Even before his injury he didn't show enough to suggest he will be as good as his draft pick suggested.

Blogger on HUN Chat this morning said that he spoke to Gumb's dad. Freo have offered a 3 year deal and he is going to take it.
