  1. From other reports I get the distinct feeling that we will be taking Wines no matter who is available.
  2. Tried to turn him into a forward/ruck role on several occassions to give Jolly more rucking time. He made it clear that Jolly was not going to take over his role by being ineffective up forward.
  3. Why not just keep Martin and play him forward. Grab Pederson with a third rounder. We can then use pick 20 for best available. I would keep Gysberts as well. He has one more year on his contract and we have very few options for delisting in 2013 (Read Contracts thread). Gysberts may well be the big improver after another pre-season.
  4. No matter how well we draft we will never be able to compete with GWS and possibly GC in 2-4 years time. The AFL heve made sure these clubs will be powerhouses. The idea of the mini-draft was for these new clubs to take experienced players from the existing clubs rather than high-end draft picks. This was not written into the set-up rules so the clubs have explored the loophole and secured the best draft picks available. When some of their players want to come home they again will trade for top-end draft picks and the cycle will continue. It could possibly 10 years or more for this to balance out as free-agency takes hold and their players can walk should they wish to. Of course with the extra money in the salary cap they will be in a better position to retain players even under FA.
  5. Next year 2013 with be very interesting. If Davey, Morton and Gysberts are still on the list they are the only ones that would be a chance of being delisted. Watts, Sylvia, Gawn, Taggert, Tynan, Fitzpatrick and Grimes are unlikely to delisted. I believe Sylvia will a restricted FA but from all reports he is not likely to leave the MFC. Should Morton or Gysberts be traded this year as expected there are few options available to the Club to delist a minimum of 3 players as required by the AFL. Players like Sellar, Bartram and Strauss could agree to one year only contracts, The first two might but I doubt Strauss would. List management next year could be very interesting.
  6. I'm somewhat nervous as well concerning Dawes and all things Collingwood that Neeld seems to love. We must not use picks 3 or 4 or 13 for Dawes. MM doesn't seem to be enamoured with him as Carlton hasn't expressed interest that this stage. The 3 years for Jamar and McKenzie makes me think that Neeld isn't the messiah some think he is. I just hope i'm bloody wrong. I agree with you on Couch and Magner. They are battlers at best and won't have a long term future at MFC. Keep one as a second year rookie and delist the other. Don't care which one.
  7. Earlier reports indicated that Rounds was going to be delisted anyway.
  8. Steady up boys. On Trade Week Radio they didn't say Cale was seeking a trade. Terry Wallace and Barrett said he should seek a trade because he is going nowhere at MFC.
  9. In the Hun today it also said that any player delisted by their club automatically becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent. Not that any decent players would be delisted.
  10. The boxing trainer is Ray Giles. He also helped Tom Rockliff. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/afl/afl-news/no-rest-for-rockliff-as-he-grabs-his-chance-at-the-lions-20100612-y4pv.html
  11. Being a regular Scorpions watcher a gentle breeze in the suburbs equates to a howling gale a Casey fields. The Council need to do something about this with wind breaks. It ruins a good game and it is always commented on by Peter Donegan on ABC televised games. The players can't enjoy playing in these conditions.
  12. He was on crutches at the B&F. So was Fitzpatrick.
  13. What's all the love for Caddy. He has done nothing to date to suggest a high draft pick should be used on him. There are some great kids in this draft I would much prefer such as kennedy or Garlett for pace or O'Rourke, Wines, Stringer and .at least 10 others before Caddy. Love is so blind. Wake up.
  14. They were there for the taking at draft time. Sloane pick 44 2008. TAC Cup team of the year. Captain of Eastern Ranges. Of course we picked a project player from the other side of the country. Jamie Bennell. We could also have had Zac Clarke or Todd Banfield or even Mitch Robinson or Liam Anthony. In 2009 we picked Gysberts and Tapscott but could have got Fyffe or Lewis Jetta or Daniel Talia. I don't know whether Gysberts and Tapscott will make it but the others surely have. MFC recruiting has been so poor it gives all the other clubs a head start even though our selections have come before them. It really sucks. Wer'e playing catch up all the time. If we don't get it right this year we may well be doomed.
  15. Last Sunday Huchy said Trade Week Radio is back on this year Can't wait.
  16. What would anybody know about Royal. All I can say is that at the B&F last night he got praise from a couple of players (Jones and Jordie). They didn't praise Greaves the other midfield coach. Respect for Royal seemed genuine.
  17. The eye fillet was fantastic. Rare to medium. Jordie spoke really well. He had his brother with him (no girl) and he looks like his twin. Jones and Grimes were really passionate about success and warned every player not to turn up to pre-season training unfit. Their are obviously some players who have not bought into Neelds methods. Brad Green inferred that this was the case when he was on TAC Cup Future Stars last Sunday. The players genuinely love Greeny and I aslo picked up praise on a couple of occassions for Brian Royal by the midfield group. Sat next to the players table and the Legends table with Noel McMahon etc. The players seemed to really respect the old players. Of the players near me the best looking female partners were with Sylvia, Couch and would you believe Spencer. She had legs going to her armpits and stunning. Where do they get these women?
  18. Pick 13 is over the odds considering Mitch Clark was pick 12. Caddy has shown very little at GC. Let him go elsewhere We need players that are quick and can impact games. Kennedy or Garlett would be better for us..
  19. I'd much rather Kennedy or Garlett.Caddy hasn't shown that X-factor that these kids seem to have. We've all had a good look at Caddy and he hasn't impacted games as you would expect. He is nowhere near the class of Harley Bennell. These other kids have a bit of Bennell in them. Don't do it MFC. Clark was pick 12, Caddy is overrated and should not command a high draft pick.
  20. Jason Taylor is the guys name. Assistant to the National Head of Recruiting Derek Hine.
  21. I I still think Spencer and Jetta are not AFL standard. I would seriously seek a trade for these two.
  22. The B&F is on Thursday night. Players will .obviously be in attendance.Delistings will be announced after that.
  23. 3 years for Jamar and McKenzie. Sheez The alarm bells are ringing. He may not be the messiah we are hoping for. We could have got Alex Woodward, or Murdoch or Michael Talia last year if the Dogs were going to give us a pick in the 30's or 40's for Bate. With blind faith we follow. Will it lead to the Garden of Eden or Christmas Island.. ahh
  24. I hope Neeld, Viney and Harrington know what they are doing because there will be few players out of contract next year that we would not want to keep. Most clubs have a third of their list out of contract each year, usually with a balance of experience and youth. In MFC case apart from Davey and Morton all the players coming out of contract will be young developing players that you would most likely want to keep. I can definitely see problems at the end of next year.
  25. From my viewpoint I believe one of the reasons JMcD was shown the door was because we needed to free-up the list to participate fully in the National Draft as there were few players coming out of contract that year. When Newton and Meeson were at the Club they agreed to move from the primary list to the rookie list in order to free up spots on the primary list. Next year is looming as a further difficulty with only Watts, Gawn, Tynan, Taggert, Gysberts, Morton, Sylvia, Davey, Martin, and Fitzpatrick coming out of contract. Should, Gysberts and Martin be traded this year these picks have to used in the 2012 draft. That only leaves Davey and Morton as a possible delistings in 2013. Of course other players maybe moved on but in my view they show too much potential for this to happen. With National draftees given 2 yr contracts and Free Agents and new trades that may come in also with 2 or more year contracts, this leaves very little room to move next year. Also if Davey and Morton are moved on this year as well, 2013 is looming as another year the Club is boxing itself in with minimal room to move. Unless of course they delist players that we at demonland believe should be retained. List management has not been great in recent times and next year looms as a doozy. I wonder whether others at the Club are aware of this.
