  1. It's MFC membership day on SEN tomorrow. Paul Roos is being interviewed and probably others during the day.
  2. Just booked to go with my wife. The 3rd time we've gone with the club and always had a great time. We probably would never have gone to Darwin, Kakadu, Uluru and Alice if we didn't include it with the footy package through the Club. One year we continued on to Bali from Darwin. Very convenient and will do it again.
  3. Jake Spencer - Plantar fasciitis (From interview with Paul Roos on SEN)
  4. No system is perfect and exploitation will always occur. However, you have to start somewhere and with good intentions. No free agents to the top four clubs has already been discussed in the media with pros or cons either way . However, something has to be done because even someone like Brayshaw who was a Frawley compensation pick could walk to a premiership contender after 8 years. We could well be nothing more than a nurturing club for the top clubs. Tanking will never go away unless there is a lottery type system for the bottom 8 teams. But I believe giving the first 8 draft picks to the bottom 4 clubs (or something similar) would give clubs the chance to move up the ladder more quickly than the current system. ,
  5. - Play reserves games before the main game. - The bottom 4 teams get the first 8 draft picks. i.e bottom team gets picks 1 & 5. Second last has picks 2 & 6 - The top 4 clubs cannot enter into free agency. - Free Agency compensation continues. - Collingwood plays one game at Geelong every year and has at least two scheduled 4-40 games on a Sunday. - MFC plays all it's day games at either 1-10 or 2-10.
  6. It's clear that many demonlanders dislike Sen 1116. I persevere with the station as I "hang-on" all things football. Without it I would have to listen to Dwayne Russell and Gerard Healey for my daily football fix. That is not a good thought. Anyway Mark Fine did a great interview last week Ross Dillon, one of my all time favourties. Titled Small time footy heroes-Kyabram. http://www.sen.com.au/audio#9QOMlTRgE7Q5ZULz.97 enjoy.
  7. $100 on the way. Demonland gives me a great deal of pleasure most days. Many thanks to all the helpers.
  8. Bound For Glory have their thoughts on the draft. http://www.boundforglorynews.com.au/who-will-the-demons-draft/
  9. Brett Anderson on SEN yesterday thinks we might take Curnow at 3 and Kieran Collins at 7. Fixes up our bookends for the future.
  10. Parker's manager on Trade Radio just said that Parker is staying at the Swans and has a contract extension offer in front of him. He's going nowhere.
  11. On SEN news it is reported that Jake Melksham has requested a trade. He was offered a new 2 yr deal but has decided he needs a fresh start elsewhere.
  12. At the dinner with the Viney's last Wednesday young Jack Viney supported the selection of Toumpas over his best mate Oliver Wines. Whether that was his true belief or just playing the political MFC line I can't say. On the face of it he was very quick in support of Jimmy. There was a lot of talk on the night around the escapades of young Jack and Oliver growing up together.
  13. I had a chance to speak with Todd. He did not know Jack Geary but was interested, I gave him the news articles that I listed above. Said he would speak with the recruiting guys. A great night had by all.
  14. Yesterday, on TAC Future Stars Nathan Brown and Terry Wallace both agreed that Brisbane should get a priority pick. What a joke.
  15. My wife and I are going. We went to Roosy's Pie Night at the Duke last year and had a great time. That night I told Roosy to consider drafting a kid called Caleb Daniel. He didn't know who he was and when he asked how tall he was (I said 168cm) he just laughed. This time I might ask Todd if he is aware of a mature age kid called Jack Geary from Golden Square. Rick Ladson (ex-Hawk) has been pushing this guy up for some time. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-11-15/country-beast-a-draft-chance http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-08-14/draft-gems-of-the-state-leagues
  16. It's being broadcast live from 1pm on Casey Radio, 3ser, 97.7fm.
  17. It was discussed today on SEN that Brisbane could get the first 2 draft picks because Mathew Luenberger as a Free Agent this year may be classified as a 1st round compensation pick. This would mean that should they finish last they would get the pick immediately following their first selection. This is the same as last year with the Frawley compensation pick (pick 2). That would most likely mean that both Schache and Weitering could go to Brisbane. Also James Aish may attract a 1st round trade.
  18. On 3AW last night Gerard Healy and Mathew Richardson both agreed that the Lions should get draft assistance. Gerard has been on the draft assistance bandwagon for the Lions for some time. I can't remember him having the same stance for the MFC.
  19. What I liked about him was his clean hands and his ability to kick with both feet. 15 disposals and 3 tackles isn't bad for his second game.
  20. According to the programme guide on Casey Radio 3SER 97,7fm the match is being broadcast from 1pm.
  21. Jobe Watson Is out for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury he incurred in Rd13 against the Hawks.
  22. I watched both games on foxtel and without giving a full report on rhe games the players to standout were: Schache and Weitering were a class above the rest in my opinion. Weitering has bucket hands and reads the play like Harry Taylor. Schache is a Travis Cloke type, however he is a beautiful and accurate kick. Of the rest Mathieson was the best of the on-ballers and would be a good get. More an inside player but hard as nails. Tucker was pretty good down back and got plenty of the ball. Parish was a disappointment and had no real impact. McKay is a big bodies type who is fairly new to the game. He impressed the foxtel commentators and looked a good prospect. Rice and Collins also did some good things down back. For SA Partington started well but faded. Francis tried hard and will be a player but turned the ball over at critical times. Their captain Snelling was very good but is only 176cm. Caleb Daniel that the doggies drafted last year was far more impressive than any of the South Australians this year For Vic Metro O'Kearney and Moore impressed. Balic did not standout and on this performance is behind the VC kids such as Mathieson. For WA I thought the player to standout was Callum Ah Chee. He will be a classy player at AFL Level.
  23. From media reports I heard he pronounces his name as Shack.
  24. For lowly clubs to have a chance of moving up the ladder fairly quickly I would give the bottom four teams the first 8 picks in the draft. 18th get picks 1&5 17th get 2&6 16th get 3&7 15th get 4&8 For equalization to have any chance of success teams like MFC cannot be at the bottom of the ladder for long periods. It can be seen with us being down for so long how demoralizing it can be with little hope of success in the short to medium term. The last 15 years years and particularly the last 7 have been horrendous. It particularly effects our supporter base as kids don't want to follow a team that does not win games.
  25. Totally agree. My son came over for dinner last night after going to the game. I said to him that I don't mind if he barracked for another club. In regard to drafting I believe that the last four clubs should get the first 8 picks. 18th have picks 1&5 17th 2&6 16th 3&7 15th 4&8 Unless something like this happens teams like MFC, Carlton, Gold Coast, & St.Kilda, will become irrelevant to the competition.
