  1. and probably would have gone through at 55m or so
  2. That struck me too. Well at least before it became clear how far the ball was going to travel and the only player in the direction of the kick was further than 15m away. But then again, sometimes 15m was more like 25m in that game. Did this happen in other NAB games? To the cynical about the AFL (and who isn't) sounds like a new ploy by the AFL to make the game free flowing. If the player marking it can be easily tackled, call it a mark. If he is in the clear, force him to play on.
  3. Yes he got that one. But there was another one where the ball spilt towards the boundary line and he expressed his frustration but didn't chase it. Probably could not have got to it, but certainly wasn't going to get to it unless he tried. I am a bit worried that all the hype is going to his head. Let's hope not.
  4. I agree. But obviously only during the same year. At least then the AFL would have to explicitly change the interpretation every couple of weeks.
  5. Yes, that follows. But it doesn't mean that merely looking at the bumpee and then hitting him anywhere is grounds for getting rubbed out. We seem to be heading down that path.
  6. There is truth in that. Knowing how severe the penalty is for hitting the head, if you decide to bump the first thing you should do is look at where the player is whom you want to bump so you can aim to miss his head.
  7. Interesting - when I viewed it I was sure he left the ground but doubted he hit his head. Eventually I decided he did both, but slow-mo needed to be sure.
  8. Surprised that anyone is writing off GWS - a team hoping to make the 8 with all those high draft picks starting to get up steam.
  9. you can on a Mac, so be surprised if you can't on a PC too.
  10. Demonlanders shudder with fear that if the Demons are a basket case, then good players will want to leave. Let's hope by the end of the year Essendrug is such a basket case that that applies to their good players too - regardless of where the players actually go.
  11. cortisone usually gives only a temporary relief. If you are still having problems OD, go and see a good podiatrist and get them to have some individual orthotics made for you. It's not cheap (!) but it changed me from barely being able to walk because of the pain for a few hours after I woke up to having no problems. After a few years I stopped wearing them and if I get the smallest flare up I just wear them for a day or two and all is well again. You might try if you can find a generic instep device if the cost scares you, but it may require the individually moulded orthotic to work properly.
  12. really? I had it years ago and it was almost instantly cured (symptom-wise) by an individually moulded instep in my shoes. Didn't know it could be worse than that?
  13. True. The disappointing thing is we have so many Bruce's around the AFL community.
  14. They already have a rule tinkering unit. It's called the umpires.
  15. A lot of people don't like the ice-skating rink, but this is a surprise to me at least" http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/mar/09/melbournes-etihad-stadium-should-be-demolished-says-eddie-maguire
  16. The URL says it all. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/tennis/maria-sharapova-meldonium-manufacturer-claim-normal-course-lasts-four-to-six-weeks-not-10-years-a6918996.html
  17. Nah, if they did that they'd be people on here complaining that the players were spiritless, couldn't care less or something.
  18. I wonder how many other commentators beside Dennis C think along similar lines but are too scared for their jobs and access to say anything. Maybe this may open the floodgates. (OK, a trickle)
  19. Presumably in another club or he wouldn't have said it? (Though what he said made no real sense anyway.) (Where is he supposed to have said this?)
  20. Agree. Except that means around 2025.
  21. Hird is quite right. Those players had no reason to lie and say they had no injections because they knew the injections were perfectly kosher. Does beg the question - why they didn't take the injections then. Makes sense in a parallel universe where you prove the opposite of what you thought you were proving and don't notice that you have done so.
  22. and where did I state I don't expect more?
  23. However justified criticism might be, I find it hard to grumble about blokes in a backline which has had the ball coming in endlessly over and over during the last few years. Let's hope they can improve disposal when the ball spends a bit more time up the other end.
  24. That's why I said I respected him. But since those halcyon days, it is true that his hitouts rarely did us much good.
  25. As much as I respected Jamar and am not watching the match, this quote from the AFL site sounds eerily familiar:
