  1. So in a low scoring match which is a real hard slog, it would be just the time to have no rests for teh players unlucky enough to be on the field. Brilliant.
  2. I don't gamble and know little about it, but I had assumed bookies don't adjust the odds on what they perceive as form (except perhaps when they first announce odds). Don't they just see what the punters are betting on and adjust the odds so that they are likely to make money no matter who wins? Or is it a mixture of the two?
  3. While the game was good to watch, what struck me the most was how poor Hawthorn were compared to the past. They made a lot of skill errors that I don't expect them to make. The passing by foot was not what it was - looked liek any other good team. May be a sign of a decline under way. I hope so.
  4. It is dangerous around here getting any sort of reputation because everything that happens is always further evidence in support of it regardless of the facts. In fact when it went from 1 week to more, the explanation was that scans had shown the injury was a higher sprain than thought.
  5. For those who think the FD is always trying to mislead us, I note that the mfc web page says he is out for at least a month and at the bottom it says 3-4 weeks. Sounds to me that the crook info people moan about is more like 'no one really knows' rather than assuming some conspiracy to keep Demonlanders in the dark.
  6. But I don't think you can just assume the probability of a draw after extra time is the same as that after playing for 4 quarters. It is much higher - more like the probability of the score being tied 10 minutes into a match. There is a lot less time for one side to pull away, the scores are close to start with and hence it is more likely that the team behind will catch up and there will be a draw. Simplest solution is to make the extra time a bit longer and just keep doing it till someone wins. They may be exhausted but they have all summer to recover.
  7. He does get pinged for it sometimes. The simplest tactic is to duck a few inches so he does go too high. Much easier than trying to grab his arm etc.
  8. you can't just multiply the odds. It's not as if one side can get 10 goals up in 5 minutes thus making it unlikely for the second tie to occur. Second tie is far more likely.
  9. pulling requires getting a grip. Easier to duck a bit.
  10. What about the tennis solution - first to get 2 goals in a row. They could have a night GF that started at 2pm.
  11. Completely agree. Where will it end? Recall the C'wood goal where the C'wood player was paid a mark and picked up the ball and played on and scored a goal, should we have a review of whether he played on forward of the mark. (I will certainly be reviewing that when I watch the replay!)
  12. dangerous stuff that Bex - it was banned eventually. Clearly an ump stepping back cannot keep out of the players' way. It has to be the players responsibility. The stupid thing about the umpires telling the players at every ball up that they are going straight back is that it is completely unnecessary since they always go straight back. The players can easily work out where straight back is, and telling them doens't ad any extra information, so what is the point of telling them?
  13. In Q2 a C'wood player was paid a mark (probably correctly) which I thought came to ground closer to their goal than the point at which he was paid the mark. He picked up the goal and the umpire called play on as he ran into goal. Surely he should have been forced to play from behind the mark? Or did I see it wrongly?
  14. As if C'wood cares about a few bucks. Like all fines, the size should be related to income.
  15. I wish the mods would rename this thread "Hogan - stay or go" so those of us looking for other info about him (eg injured?) don't have to wade through all this speculation.
  16. If I recall correctly, they did another scan and found the injury was worse than first thought. Can't see how blame attaches to him in particular.
  17. Sums it up for many of us.
  18. If these EFC players both sue and play for Essendrug, then surely it would require the EFC admin to put the boot into the past admin and Hird to show a clean break from the past. Since I can't see that happening because of the reaction of the one-eyed fan base, I doubt if any player will both sue and play. Interesting to see.
  19. HUN reports he's OK to play for Casey this week
  20. That was what I thought. First I heard of 4 months, so I raised it in case there was any reliable information on this.
  21. This from the AGE article: Four months?
  22. Save time - put on the sunglasses and sun block and go straight outside.
  23. can he be got on the new charge to which he has admitted publicly?
  24. Just like Essendrug are. Let's hope the players don't share these thoughts.
  25. But the hit on Zeibell was a great legal bump directly in play. Raising an elbow as you go past another player is just bloody stupid.
