  1. Things we will see on saturday: Commentators gushing over Naitanui, every time he moves, or looks like he is about to move, even if he's nowhere near the play.
  2. What's wrong with that?
  3. I heard that he was struggling a little with his leg, not out for season though.
  4. Will be a bit of fun. I hope we draw GWS in our group, how could they possibly win with a Jumper like that.
  5. Not too many details really. They did say that the payments could have been genuine so I guess at the moment it is really nothing but the footy show trying to make news, so they can go on about the best news breakers in the country. But either way 2000 should be ours.
  6. How about get it via torrent, then donate $40 to the club?
  7. Something about a defunct charity paying money to players of Srorm, Saints and Dons. I'm calling it now, 2000 Premiership cup should be given to us.
  8. They're not particularly flashy marks these two, but they are very solid and both players seem to be pulling a few of these ones down a bit more often this year. Great to see, been a while since we had a good contested mark in the team.
  9. I just got told this but Aparently in the 19th century pink was for boys, blue for girls. Also "girl" was term for all babies. "Boy" was a term for a servant. So I guess back then, pink was quite manly, if a little bit girly.
  10. Definately worth considering. Would Lake then line up on him? Tough gig.
  11. Terrible news. Wonna, Jurrah, Petterd. Every time we have a forward that shows something we lose them for a season.
  12. "I don't like female callers" Mute is one thing, making comments like this in a public forum is another. The sentence is pretty cut and dry, you don't like something and you discriminate that thing by it's sex. Therefore it is sexist. It is by definition "sexist", maybe only a little bit sexist but sexist nonetheless. Part of a PC world gone mad? Hardly. Being overly literal, probably.
  13. And while there are people who descriminate against a sex, because of their sex I will highlight the fact that it is sexist. But that it isn't a big deal either.
  14. That depends, do you not watch it because they are women, or some other reason like it is slower, only goes for 3 sets, is generally of a lower quality, or you don't happen to like the particular tennis players playing in Women's tennis at the moment? But again there are physical reasons why the tennis is of lower quality, and these same limitations do not apply to football commentating.
  15. I have played netball against women. It was good fun. I have also played football against women. But yes I see your point. However, there are physical reasons why sports are generally split into sexes. These same differences do not exist in the realm of football commentary, and if you think there is then yes you deserve to be labelled sexist. In my opinion at least. Outside of the playing of sport and sexual preferences I see no reason to bias towards or discriminate against any person based purely on their sex, because to do so is sexist. I should add that it is not evil to be sexist, I don't think there is anyone in the world who is truly unbiased, it is a reality of being human.
  16. Everyone does it at some level, it is very difficult to remain 100% impartial in these sorts of things. But I would say that this comment is a textbook definition of sexism. Discrimination based on sex.
  17. Not too silly. He's a smart footballer, can mark, has pace, can kick (though not sure if he's any good at goal), needs body size. Plus surplus to requirements down back.
  18. 2nd hand info: Wona kicked 3 despite playing just over a half. Blease wasn't on the ground a lot, still working through an injury.
  19. I would rather see some pace brought in rather than another tall. If you really wanted him in I think Martin would have to be dropped. Has he been that good for Casey?
  20. Mckenzie had a few niggles and they played it safe with him I'm told. Bail didn't play for Casey with quad. Mckenzie and bail in next week, if they're fit.
  21. On current value, wonna is behind Alwyn because Wonna is injured. Fair? No, but footy isn't fair. Fit I would rather have Wonna than Alwyn. I am beginning to lose faith in his hamstrings.
  22. This reply is about as predictable as this thread. I would take alwyn over wonna, and at this stage Neville and maric. Which is not to say that these players won't one day be better maybe, just that alwyn has runs on the board. That said I don't think Alwyn would really be at the front of our recruiting department's mind.
  23. Good to see a Dee up there for once. Col did better than I expected, has been trained well for these easy types of questions, mature also. But going forward I would like to see others take these kind if media gigs. Grimes spoke very well on SEN the other day, I could see him being a regular. For me he represents all there is to like about Melbourne at the moment. (not that Sylvia isn't great)
  24. Noises out of the club seem to think that he is ahead of where they expected him to be. Given that we are weak in the 2nd ruck and tall forward areas he will have a chance to make the team if he can show good form at Casey seniors. Moves well for a big guy, let's just hope we don't have to wait until he's 26 before he finds good form.
