  1. Jurrah for me, a touch more ride.... And a goal to follow it up. Not by much though.
  2. Players off to surgery I reckon. Getting them right for pre-season. Fitzy mentioned he needed surgery at the end of the year in his Q&A on the website. Like last year I think MFC has pulled players to get them right, I reckon we'll see a few more as well. Stiff for Casey.
  3. We're a club that is in a position to sell itself to a potenial player, and we have the $$ to back it up so we need to be active, certainly if I were a forward who is starved of opportunity but secretly backed myself I would look to the MFC as the place to be. Hopefully we can snag someone decent, but unless we can get someone who is actually good I get the feeling Anthony is the kind of player we would end up looking to. That is; pick up a player that when mentioned in a thread like this is met with replies ridiculing the suggestion. But we have to back our team/coaches/club to take a player who is not performing (+cheap) and make something of them. I think Anthony probably fits the bill, McKinley also. These would be the absolute minimum I would think.
  4. Judd, Ball, Scully. Caulfiled, Xavier & Haileybury.
  5. Josh Kennedy.
  6. If the rumour about Jamar being injured had any truth to it then I wouldn't be against resting him for the interstate game. So important he has a good pre-season. I would be pretty excited to see Fitzy get a game or two with the big boys just to give him something to thinl about during the pre-season.
  7. I thought the relative success of previous drafts had no bearing on future drafts, or some other such equivalent you usually pedal Rhino. Glad to see you've come around.
  8. Shame for him, to be taken so early in the draft and to never really have a fair run at it.
  9. I'm going to throw my support behind PJ and say that he is a required player for next year. Fit he will play 2nd fiddle to Russian. Or as insurance. He's shown enough this year for this kind of endorsement and Jamar like improvement is not out of the question, although time is ticking. Spencer for me would only be worth keeping on as a Rookie and I don't know if that is even possible. If not then I say he should go. Fitzpatrick and Gawn are the real risks to PJ, I hear very good things about Fitzy. But chances are they won't be ruck mature until 2013 or later. I'm optimistic that one of the two will start to play games as soon as next year but I don't feel comfortable with just Jamar and these two. I have gone cold on Martin. So I guess that leaves: Bell Miller (sad) Junior (it's time) McNamara (line ball)
  10. Or apples and pears.
  11. Except that it isn't, there have been nominations this year (Davis is one) that were awarded on consistency of form not single game breakouts. It's a grey area of the system, and it hasn't favoured McKenzie at all.
  12. In respect to the rising star;Jordie and Jack. To be fair he'd get a game ahead of wonna this week, and we would be the winner out of a wonna/Garlett trade, but only because of Wonna's injury concerns. Give me a fit Wonna over a fit Garlett any day. Of the three smalls at Carlton in a trade situation I would have Eddie ahead then Yarran then Garlett. Exposed form would have Garlett/Yarran swapped, but I tend to think that Yarran is the only one of the three that could really be a superstar. Actually on the surface of it Carlton would do well to trade one of these 3.
  13. Yeah you're probably right. 6 goals is good. I still don't rate him though.
  14. Garlett! Spare me, he wouldn't even get a game with us. Another miss by the Rising star people.
  15. To be fair they were probably running at 80% because of their foot skills. But then so were we.
  16. Bizarre decision, yes. But please no video ump. Every time this happens the same old arguments get wheeled out, just like when there are draws. The game is quick, complex and basically just organised chaos. The day we have perfect umpiring is the day this game becomes boring, think NFL.
  17. He'll probably get it but it isn't a good call. Jeff had a better game this week but has been underwhelming leading into it. Jordie deserves it more, he got beaten to the nod a few weeks back by Phil Davis who got his on sustained form not an indiviual game. Give me a Jordie over a Jeff any day. EDIT: which is not to say that RobbieF's call is not good, just the selector's call if they choose to bypass the tackle machine.
  18. You'll only be playing for the MFC legends frame, I have the Volvo wrapped up this year for sure.
  19. Spot on. The medium in which it is presented will determine whether or not it is too complex/busy. For me this is goes back to all those things Schabby talks about in the whiteboard wednesdays. I hope this emblem, or at least the fundamental design of the emblem will still be around in another 152 years.
  20. In SEQ for honeymoon, 'bout to head off to see the boys break our travelling hoodoo at the gabba. is there a good spot for an early dinner near the gabba anyone can recommend? Price no issue, when the West Coast supporting wife agrees to go to the footy on your honeymoon you make an effort.
  21. Not always, defenders of all sorts can pick up cheap possessions and have only a small impact on a game (not that this was the case with Davis), likewise midfield taggers can go with very few possessions and have a massive impact. You could argue that Jordie's work off the ball was as important as his work on the ball as much as you could with Davis. We could make subjective judgements about how the ball is easier/harder to get as an inside mid, or as a defender. That is all well and good, but the stats are still worth mentioning. To make a comparison between two players you need to make a judgement call on how each individual performed, and one measure of those individual performances is with their ability to find the ball, their ability to stop other players finding the ball, their ability to get the ball out of the centre. All stats, are they the whole story? No. But they are all relevant. Maybe I need to add in a disclaimer with any quoted stats saying as much so we people know where I stand and we can avoid calling each other morons in the future.
  22. Except that the stats are relevant, and there is plenty of point to make the comparison. The available stats may only be one measure, and only part of the story, but they are certainly relevant in the discussion. Not sure why I needed to even point this out.
  23. So the stats are irrelevant? They are far more relevant to the question of Davis deserving a nod over jordie than any amount of subjective fluff I can muster. It's a tired argument on here I know, but I would rather see shorter posts providing facts about an issue than long winded ones (like this) about some guys opinion about something. Stats are not absolute, but at least the regular demonland reader can make their own interpretation on them after someone posts them. I say let's see more posts with facts and stats.
