.. that's made my day. I have grave concerns for my own sanity.
-
The AFL have been very clever in this regard, by providing such complicated and numerous avenues to GC's list creation it is really hard to work out exactly how well they'll do out of it all, or how dudded the exising clubs are. Complaining about it is difficult because no-one actually understands it, and writing articles about stuff no-one understands makes for poor reading.

Do it. Would make good reading. Even just the top 10.

I like number 5 for Country. Flashes past in that video at about 2:30. With hair like that he must be a good player.

Jordie McKenzie is an A-Grade 100%. Surprised Swan beat him for MVP actually. I like how you separated potential from the reality. -

1. Jones is a core player right now, he played every game. He MAY get overtaken by 2,3,4 of these younger players but they havn't yet. Why can't we deal in the here and now, not predictions. 2. Bennell kept wonna out because wonna was injured unfit or wasn't performing. Bennell has never been a core player for us, useful because he is quick. Not core. Jones' good games were better than Jamie's and his worst ones weren't as bad, which is why he played 22 games and Bennel didn't. Bail wouldn't have been dropped "for matchup purposes" if he was as a core player (or better than Jones for that matter). Morton has had a bad year and got dropped because of it. 3. Gysberts has played 3 games. There are no players at any clubs who can play 3 games and be a core player. He is a teenager who has had 3 good games, that is all he is. 4. PJ is no star, but he is the clear 2nd choice. If there is daylight between Jamar and PJ, there is at least as much between him and Spencer. Too risky geting rid of him. 5. Warnock might get a 3rd round. 6. There are several VFL players who have outperformed maric, probably several Casey players who have. -

Overall not too bad, but I'm going to put my nitpicking hat on and disagree with you on a few things. On exposed form, Jones should be in ahead of some of the names in the "core players" group. Bennel, Morton, Wonna, Bail were all in and out of the side. I think Having Gysberts and a couple of others as core players is a bit premature. Can't agree with delisting of PJ, except if there is a genuine option for his replacement. Spencer is not that. PJ will have at least a year to prove himself. A third round pick for Warnock would be a good result, second round a sensational result. Maric has no trade value. -
In the Norm Smith Book (Red Fox) it is said that Fred Fanning turned to Don Cordner as he ran onto the field that day and said he was going to kick 18 goals. True or not, that's awesome. After that game he left to go play country footy, aged 24. Footy has changed.

Listening to the rising star on SEN. 30 minute interview with Mrs Scott.... rivetting stuff.

Garland could be a replacement for fletcher in the coming years.

I think Jamar will be the only one. Even if I think Green and Frawley should also get in. Our ladder position will hurt their chances too much.

There were certainly times yesterday and in other games that I have thought he was the best option and was ignored. But more often than not he has not positioned himself well enough or decisively enough to deserve it. Seems to me to change his mind too often, making 3-4 direction changes, particularly when running towards goals. It is IMHO his single greatest failing this year. It is not an application thing, he covers a lot of ground and is good defensively. But of all the things to be bad at as a young player I think this is the one that is of least concern. In terms of positioning he plays one of the most difficult roles on the ground (rangey forward). Especially considering he does it in a constantly unsetlled forward line, all our players have been guilty of it at times, but none moreso than Jack. He'll settle, and make decisive leads and the odd damaging double-back and all our forwards will be far more damaging for it. As for the arm raising thing, I saw it, and it is something I would rather not see.

Runs to the wrong places, does himself no favours by waiving his arms around after being ignored either.

When placed strategically they make you last longer as well.

With the silly season fireing up, our well publicised front ending of contracts and Bruce being asked to take a paycut. I would have thought Melbourne would be mentioned more in the media for us targetting players. It seems to be just Carlton and Essendon, and of course Gold Coast. I expect us to figure heavily in the player movement stakes this year even if we don't land one, but I don't think I have read anything.

I'll start a list and bring this up again in Feb/March next year.

I gave up on SC and DT this year. I have moved on and up to a better one this year. A draft based system, so no 2 teams can have the same player (per league). It takes a bit of organsing to get the draft done (everyone has to be online at the same time) but it is good fun. There is no salary cap, teams can trade/delist/sign players as their form changes through the year. Scoring is different also, it is a category based system where the number of stats in each category (Score,SC%,K,HB,M,HO,T,FF,FA) is summed for your entire team. You have to win more categories than the team you play each week to win. So there ends up being a heap of tactics behind who you play when. Not sure if this breaks posting rules here but the website is www.ultimatefooty.com, it is free and I have no vested interest even though this post reads like an ad. I would be up for a demonland league next year if there was enough interest.

Grimes getting a round 22 debut? Sounds familiar.
-
Agreed. Drop Jamar as well. It'll go a long way to me winning my fantasy footy.
-
Deserves it with 10 goals in 3 games. Next week Jordie.
-
This post is the equivelant of missing the ball with your foot. Jordie's in close work is fantastic, his hands when he gets the ball are as clean as anyone in our team. And without it he is behind only McDonald for tackling pressure, and not by far. He is the perfect player to take over J-Mac's role next year, in name and type. Plus he is no flash in the pan, he has continued to build his game and put in quality game after quality game, albeit without ever having a "breakout". There are a number of rising star nominated players that have struggled to keep their spot in teams for the year. Phil Davis was nominated ahead of Jordie then dropped the next game.

Great ad. The club should take the opportunitybto put it on the website. Even YouTube. I would myself but I don't have foxtel.
