Dissapointing choice by "The Heart" to choose Melbourne when there is already the Victory. I would not take either Melbourne or Heart in a football club's name given the situation. I would choose Victoria, and then something that people are actually interested in, Heart?!? Terrbile decisions. I think I'll stick with the Victory, actually I think I'll stick with real football.

Couldn't everything?

From what i've seen I would say it is his best preseason ever.

Fair enough, perhaps it is better to say that the law has not protected the cab drivers as a group , and this cab driver by accepting the diversion program (and potentially money?) is perpetuating the acceptance of these kinds of assaults. If all this goes down as it sounds like it will then the conclusion I draw from this is that as an AFL footballer, it is better to commit a serious crime like this that offers protection from the media because it becomes a legal matter, rather than say a far less serious act of antisocial behaviour where the media is free to slam you. Essendon must set an example after the dust settles on all of this, if Hurley accepts the diversion program and therefore the "stated facts of the case" then surely they must enforce their own fines and suspensions in line with other clubs that enforce penalties for far less serious offences. The suspension in particular should be greater and harsher than anything we have seen recently given what it allegedly was.

Two things annoy me about this. 1: The law has not protected the Cab Driver. I wonder what the taxi union will be saying about this. 2: The media have been very easy on him. Here is a guy who allegedly assaulted someone, not urinated on a building or got too drunk on a boat cruise, assault!! In this article they said this: "Essendon coach Matthew Knights said late last year that Hurley had to be resilient as he dealt with the fallout from the incident." Not a mention of how the victim feels, just that Hurley is holding up well. What a joke.

Still so young, both these players feel like they have been around for ages.

I'd probably do a lot more work.

Donation made, keep us updated on the situation if you can. I already worry enough about our club folding, I don't need to be worrying about demonland folding as well.
-
I tried to donate via paypal. But the link on the front page doesn't go anywhere. Is there another way to get there?

Our Young Promising Backline Targeted By Gold Coast?
JACKATTACK replied to Keyser Söze's topic in Melbourne Demons
Do we know which of these players is out of contract at the right time? There will be some pretty [censored] off supporters after all this goes down, hopefully not us. -
Lock him in now while he's cheap. If we wait too long he'll have too much bargaining power.

5 rising star nods, and the eventual winner in James Strauss.

Cranbourne East to reappear on the Rail Map

Pedestrian access!?? More train lines? Why do that when you can just build more freeways? <_< -
Thanks 52k2, may I suggest uploading the photos onto a website like flickr and providing a link, footy news being the way it is this time of year I reckon there would be plenty on here who would appreciate it.

I think essendon will repeat last year's result, they'll get 10 wins but miss out on the 8.

I bought it for my brother for christmas, was too lazy to send it overseas to him. So I started reading it myself. It is a strange thing, for the most part it is just a historical account from a time before I was born, I was concerned about it being relevant to me because my connection with the MFC began well after Norm was playing or coaching. But it is great, it really gives the club a context, and I am certain that without Smith the club wouldn't exist today. $50 well spent. Go on spoil yourself, and the club: Click here to buy it from the MFC Edit: To my brother: Xmas present is at my place, too hard to send, you'll get it when you get back.

Trying to support our sponsor Kaspersky... BUT ....

But then I can't run any decent games muliplayer or run any of the software I use. iPhone is great though! -
I feel sorry for Levi, not so much because he was forced into a situation like this (I imagine this kind of thing happens at every club) but more so because his Dad had to come pick him up and then spoke to the media. He'll never live it down. As for the rest of the story, I don't think any of my christmas presents this year will out-do this one. Thankyou Carlton and Merry Christmas to you too.

PettErd is almost a good player but ulitmately he doesn't excel at any 1 particular facet of the game. Cheney is too small, too slow and doesn't have disposal to cover for it. I must admit that MacDonald is a mystery to me, but good players don't get delisted to make statements. No matter how big they are. Stef Martin is one of perhaps 2 players who has shown he can play on big forwards. Warnock the other. There are a few others that can nearly do it, or might be able to do it in the future. Rivers (too slow), better as a 3rd man. And Frawley who I hold high hopes for but as yet has not played a pure defensive role consistantly enough to have him above Martin. Garland is another but if he has another bad injury he is done. Without Stef we are exposed to teams with miltiple large forwards like Brisbane or the Hawks, and plenty of other teams that have part time large forwards that can expose teams with a single large defender. Stef also has the pace to defend smaller faster forwards and can potentially grow into a 3rd ruck option.
-
So all of; Petterd (didn't play back in 2009) Garland (didn't play in 2009) Cheney (in and out all season) Macdonald (delisted by lions) Were better than Martin as backmen?
-
Martin on 2009 form would be selected ahead of 4 or 5 of those players. On Potential probably 3-4.
-
Kicking is not that important (see essendon's new captian) Stef Martin is a defender, a smart, fast, big bodied defender. Yes he is a liabilty with his disposal, but despite this he is often still able to release an ugly looking handball or kick that seems to always release a smaller more skilled running defender. A rare combination. He is not a forward and the more i see him there the more confident I feel saying it. Leave him in the backline and let him and the players who will recieve the ball from from him learn eachother's strengths and weaknesses.
-
Completely agree, if I knew I was about to be playing AFL and most likely earning hundreds of thousands I reckon I would have got about 30. For all the very smart decent footballers out there (Ball) there are plenty of exceptionally talented ones that probably only performed admirably or below par. Wayne Carey maybe?
