For us to improve, our lesser lights (second tier mids) need to take the next step. Rivers has (though he’s more of a backman), the likes of Jordon and Sparrow haven’t. It’s a cut-throat business, and retaining the likes of Jordon will not improve us as a team. Even if he stayed, he’s not guaranteed of more game-time as he is in the unenviable spot of being amongst our 16th-22nd selected player. He would be better off finding another team to play for, even if we don’t get anything for him.

8 teams playing finals in an 18 (soon 19) team competition makes qualifying for finals a more worthwhile achievement, it also rewards the better teams. The prestige of the finals needs to be maintained. Imagine rewarding the 10th best team with a spot in the finals. Talk about rewarding mediocrity.

100%. I get that we are a defensively minded team, but you’ve got to kick a winning score first and foremost. We’ve actually looked pretty good when we have been taking the game on with an attacking mindset. The best way to put pressure on the opposition is with quick ball movement into the forward line.
