The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan
I'm sorry but neal............HA. There is no-one on Freo's list that would be deemed as sufficient compensation. But that's not having a go at Freo or their list, because i believe that no player from any team's list would be deemed as sufficient compensation. Not even a fully fit Gary Ablett would be enough to tempt me................far from it.

Aaron vandenBerg
I am huge fan of his physicality, his presence, and his willingness to do the 1%ers.

vandenBerg, is of dutch origins. Spelt 'van den Berg' in Dutch (but vandenBerg as a surname - without spaces), it translates to "from the mountain/hill"

We have another mid coming through for us next year in Jake Lovett, so if Brayshaw and Petracca come to us in this draft, Lovett next draft and the likes of Salem, Viney, Tyson and even Toumpas, surely that should alleviate our midfield woes.

Then i'm afraid it will look like this.

I would obviously expect Brayshaw (if we draft him) to play the most games next year out of all (*our) draft picks, however, i agree that even for someone with as developed a body as his, the step up to AFL level is huge. And would be ridiculous to think or expect a 1st year player to play all 22 games (Wines is the exception with big bodied first year players', not the rule).

It would be ideal for McCartin to almost play the entire year in the VFL. All u-18 kids in Vic don't get the chance to play against men and the bigger bodies, unlike in the WAFL and SANFL. Give him a year playing against the bigger bodies, his transition in to AFL will obviously go up again from VFL to AFL, but it won't be as big a jump. Maybe give him a game towards the end of the year (if he has earned it), that way he will be hungry for more AFL action over the entire summer.

Does anyone know why Petracca pulled out of the 3km time trial with a lap to go?

Dayne Beams
Too little too late. He wanted to play these shifty games, now he can lie in the bed that he has made. I wish him well in his personal life with his fight against depression, but professionally as far as i'm concerned, he can reap what he has sewed (him and his manager).

The 2014 AFL National Draft
For anyone thinking that Caleb Daniel at 168cm is too small, it's the same height as Brent Harvey (he's done pretty well). Not saying he'll turn out like Harvey, but if you're good enough you're tall enough. Goes harder at the ball than Jack Watts anyway. Height is not the be all end all, nor is talent (as Watts with all his height and ability can demonstrate).

wouldn't mind trying to get both these boys into the club. Harrison Wigg North Adelaide 14.10.1996 Height: 179cm Weight: 74kg Small defender who is an elite left foot kick which helps set up his team on the rebound and from kick-ins. Reads the play exceptionally well, averaging 18.8 disposals at 79.3 per cent effectiveness during the NAB AFL U18 Championships and winning South Australia's MVP. To cap off an outstanding championships he was also named in the All Australian U18 team in defence. Caleb Daniel South Adelaide 7.7.1996 Height: 167cm Weight: 68kg Small forward who is a prolific ball winner, makes great decisions and executes well by hand or foot. Shows the ability to bring others into the game. Had an outstanding last three games of the U18 Championships, averaging 20 disposals at 92 per cent efficiency and two goals per game on his way to winning All Australian honours.

Wright is one of the better kicks i have seen for a tall man/ruckman. Similar to Mitch Clark in having good kicking, or Cox or Jeff White. As for his physicality, no, he's no Hogan or Hawkins (or McCartin) who already knew how to use their bodies and impose themselves before they were drafted, but he's more of a ruckman in this sense and will develop that part of his game as he matures into his body. He'll still need time to learn how to use his height and weight to impose himself. He already has the size, so is not as raw or starting from absolute scratch in that sense, but he will need to develop his strength (easier than developing both strength and size, nor as time consuming).

Petracca is this draft's best player, if that's not enough to not want him, i don't know what is.

Not even Petracca will help us i'm afraid. In fact, i'm concerned for the kid's well-being, needs to stay well away or his football career will amount to nothing. Run Christian, Run.

The 2014 AFL National Draft
What about the little fella Caleb Daniel (#1 from SA). Every time i see him on a highlight reel, i like him more and more. A lot of people say he's too small and that's the reason why he'll be a late or rookie pick at best. I think that type of thinking is complete bs. Prestia seems to be doing pretty well for a little bloke too. For anyone that will say Prestia's physicality allows him to do well, i'm gonna counter with Daniel's pace allowing to become an effective AFL player. Plus, and the biggest plus, the kids got heart. Give me that over Jack Watts' attitude any day of the week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_v6hB90Noo#t=376 his highlights vid is more impressive than Stretches, imo.
