Goody’s key pillars of contest and defence are failing miserably this year. Getting killed in clearances and all at sea when defending. This is 100% an attitude problem from both the playing and coaching group. Are they too proud to admit it to themselves? Or simply too arrogant to believe that it simply is not the case? Thankfully we still have time to right the ship, because this isn’t something that can simply be turned on like a light switch. A team like ours needs belief, confidence and momentum for it to be sustained. The positive is that we are 7-3 and havent really got going yet. The negative is that we are 10 rounds in and have yet to get going.

The way Clarrie has been playing of late, a little time off won’t be the worst thing for him. The big question is who will step up in his absence? 1 player is not going to fill the entire void, but several stepping up will. How much of a team do we want to be?

Max for me at the moment is being way too passive. I’m not wanting him to go out and physically intimidate, but for the love of god have a presence on the field Max.

I reckon the players and coaches think we do, but I’m not so sure. Surely we would’ve seen it for more than just half a quarter here and there during games this season. I reckon our fitness levels are poor, as is our attitude.

Not having 4 to 5 Petraccas/Oliver’s is not the issue. It’s the gap in quality between these 2 to the rest on our list. Our midfield quality is very shallow. So much so that when Clarry and Trac aren’t firing, we’re in big trouble (this is further exacerbated by our very poor ruck-mid connection). Forget the draft, we need to bring in quality midfield talent now. If that means letting the likes of Harmes, Brayshaw, Sparrow, ANB and JJ go, then so be it. Surely the likes of Tim Kelly, Whitfield, Greene & Green from WCE & GWS want some onfield success? Go after them.

Totally agree. Getting smashed in the clearances yet again. Not sure what they work on at training, but it ain’t ruck-mid connection, to go with forward connection. Our problems are so obvious, yet we continue to seemingly not try anything to rectify them
