Maybe so, but that equally applies to Max. It’s not all about him, particularly in his twilight years. Max’s dominant games later in the season had a lot to do with Grundy giving him the required time to properly recover from his niggles sustained earlier in the year. As he ages, Brodie’s presence will only prolong Max’s influence and career. Max’s cliff will arrive suddenly, as his body will succumb much quicker than his heart due to the years of ‘questionable’ physicality that the umpires have forced him to illegally endure.

Yes, 3 consecutive top 4 H&A seasons hasn’t been achieved by us for 60 years (and I’ll forever be grateful for seeing us win the flag), but with this list we simply must salute again.
