exactly. i've had this debate with a bomber friend of mine who is adamant that the champion players aren't critical. i don't think bomber fans realize how good they have had it with champion players in recent times, but it looks like they will be experiencing not having any for a while. they will be competitive but they are a million miles away from contesting a flag. lloyd, fletcher, and lucas will be massive losses regardless of their current output.

how about another backman who was recruited as a forward, good pair of hands, good speed, nice kick. unfortunately no matter who we play he will always be "required" down back.

i understand where our forward line is at and the prospects coming through, but is there any danger we could try a radical idea like Brad Green as a leading forward in the meantime? in the rare times that Miller and co do get thier hands on the ball, the chance of a decent shot at goal is minimal.

agreed. i think he was the wrong man to play in defense, other than that i thought his game was ok.

I'm not sure why i'm saying this because it won't happen.........but Garland should be played as a forward during some these practice games. If Frawley, Rivers, Warnock and Martin can all get on the park and hold down the backline, Garland should be the man to go forward.

to add to that, in the last 20 years the 3 sides to play finals the most are west coast, essendon and melbourne. no we haven't won a flag but people's memories are short. what would richmond fans give just to play finals again.

ask yourself what it would take for us to trade pick one. seriously....would you take someone like Cooney? or Kerr? if you have to think about that for more than a few seconds you'll realise how hard it would be to get a top ten pick from another club.

interesting that Scott Clayton said again during the week that he would take Naitanui if he had the first pick. He thought he would pick up the skills, places to run to and position himself once he was in the a.f.l system.
