  1. and you picked us to play finals the previous 3 years? or did we just get lucky 3 years in a row?
  2. at the start of 07 most football media including Mike Sheahan rated us the best victorian side, yep........the start of last year. is our list great? no, is it up to a.f.l standard? yes. Bailey should and will be given time, but the way we are performing compared to our ability and talent are waaaaay out of line right now.
  3. check out how many pre-season's elite midfielders need before they reach the stage where they have the engine to perform in the midfield, then compare that to silvia who has had probably one full pre-season. he's progressing.
  4. i know a top 5 priority pick would be great, but don't underestimate the value of a pick in the high teens. example; if another club had pick 17 and we wanted it, which player would you expect to trade to get it? it would be a top 10 player at our club.
  5. such as? you've seen more of him than i. i'm assuming he's a great athlete with questionable/developing football skills hence my comparison to Brennan. i would never have thought that buddy had questionable ability to play the game, moreso attitude.
  6. won't argue with any of that. if Natanui is purely a ruckman part timing as a midfielder, then i wouldn't take him. if he can go forward, possibly permanantly and take contested marks, then he's the guy for us. i don't know enough about him to judge, but another issue is the short amount of time he's been playing the game. how much has he improved soo far? how much is he likely to improve? the comparison to Brennan is fair, and i wouldn't use the top draft pick on Brennan, but that is based on what the athlete has become. hopefully by the end of the year we will have a much better idea what the natanui athlete will become before committing.
  7. like most supporters my father supported this club and my grandfather before him. hopefully my kids support the club and if they get a chance to see a flag and i don't, then stiff [censored]. it won't change the way i support the club.
  8. yeah, i've seen those opinions before and everytime i read them i want him even more. no mention of his speed though, which pretty much means he doesn't have blinding speed.not that speed is everything, but it would probably sway me if he did.
  9. thats funny, when i want to control mine i usually think about football. on a serious note......i have seen bugger all of both rich and naitanui, obviously i like what i hear. the issues for me are this; can naita play forward? what are his hands like? if he is purely a mobile ruckman i would probably go for Rich. And Rich......does he have blinding speed to break lines in the Judd mould? or is he a highly skilled one paced midfielder? the trade period may well have the answers for us. assuming we get the picks we are all talking about, i would be prepared to trade pick 17 or 18 to get either a quality key position player (Ashley Hansen?), or a gun midfielder. then we take the appropriate player in the draft. i gotta say though when it's 50/50 choice, you gotta go tall.
  10. not sure about the best but it's starting to look much better if that very possible scenario eventuates. i haven't seen much of naitanui or Rich, but we need key position players/ruckmen soo badly it is really hard to pass on a big bloke.
  11. yeah i thought the same. although getting there might be a problem. FWIW i rate Kerr higher than Judd, and it's not just cos he might become available, i had the same opinion last year when Judd said he was coming home.
  12. you love the club but think they are pathetic? thats like punching the missus in the face and then telling her you love her. the media are doing a great job of kicking us while we're down, the club doesn't need it's own supporters doing the same. stand by your/our club no matter what, or support someone else.
  13. when i was 17 i played reserves for a local team and we were a top 2 side, whereas our senior team barely won a game. one night at training we had the seniors vs reserves in a scratch match and they made us look silly. they rolled out against most other senior sides and got spanked, but i really found a new respect for those guys after they virtually held us scoreless.
  14. exactly. neitz has been contributing nothing this season. right at this point in time, we'll be a better side without him, but i do hope he gets himself right and finishes off his last season with some form and fitness he's been severly lacking.
  15. Want Rivers, will get Bruce.
  16. or just 2 medium/tall flankers in bate and dunn. tell robbo to go forth.
  17. he's gotta play half back or midfield. very simple reason; if he plays on a forward flank he will have long periods when he is starved of the ball......not good for Col. He needs to be in thick of it at all times and improve his game that way. it will also help him build his engine to be able to play a variety of roles down the track. make him accoutable for a change, play him off half back, or as a tagger for short bursts.
  18. and they both had crap, injury affected year's
  19. c.c has stated categorically that he is not seeking to coach the club once Bailey had been appointed. I think Connolly is a ripper person to have around the club but i would be staggered if he ended up coaching the club.
  20. that is my biggest issue right now. we've got our problems with personnel, but we have skilled, proven, experienced footballers running around right now who can't find a target by hand within 3 mtrs. no matter what the fitness level, the gamplan, the coach says, it will never make a difference until these players can find basic targets. i have no idea why jeff white handball's to the ground 1 mtr behind a teamate who is 2 mtrs away, but i know that a) he isn't that bad and B ) it's not bailey's fault. i don't think WE are that bad, i think our players are alot better than they are being given credit for, and alot better than what they are showing right now. i'm not sure if bailey's gameplan is right or wrong because i haven't seen the players implement it, all i have seen is guys continually turn the ball over with poor skill. i'm slightly concerned that we lack intensity when we have a new coach who the players should want to impress at least in his first year, and that our skills are soo poor since we were all told the balls came out early in pre-season. i'm hoping it is just a lack of confidence and once we gain some we might be able to have a real look at the gameplan.
  21. for sure, but the extra pick would have been nice. i'm trying to get over it though......i really am.
