  1. we also lost a priority pick at 17 last year, in effect travis johnstone (pick 16) for winning one extra game.
  2. al nicholson has retired.
  3. if a melbourne player got suspended for the push to the throat of Hunter or the "jumper punch" to Waters, i would be livid.
  4. exactly, jumper punches have, and do go for weeks however i'm not sure i would even call that a jumper punch. for the hit on staker.......7 weeks
  5. true, but i would think most are disco bikkies rather than ice.
  6. agree. fix the backline, develop the midfield, and worry about the forward line once we are winning our fair share of the ball. attack off half-back is critical.
  7. or maybe he thinks we will have first pick in the psd.
  8. he is isn't he? does some serious padding during junk time.
  9. good stuff, that sums up the situation i reckon.
  10. i'll third that. there was speculation that Kerr would be traded when he was about the same age as brock, ditto Goodes who was lacking consistency. thats a while ago now and they have both developed into gun players. i see it soo often when a midfielder bursts onto the scene and then has a plateau before he hits his peak. demon fans get impatient because we lack star players, but i think brock will still become the player we had all hoped.
  11. lol......nice one of those cult figures at tigerland, which usually translates to "a [censored] player who tries hard"
  12. you forgot the bit about him taking rivers out during that marking contest.
  13. i'd still play him. right now jeff white is in career worst form. his handball, his kicking, his decision making, this notion he has if he gets his hand to the ball in ruck contests he has done his job even though most of them go to the opposition. his game is a dogs breakfast right now.
  14. i don't judge how often the ball comes in, i judge how he was beaten. he has great speed and great strength for a guy his size, but his agility for a guy his size is poor and his ability to hit a target is average. i don't think he will ever be the type of player to set up attacks from half back, i just don't think he plays smart enough. for the same reason i doubt he could ever play in midfield unless he develop's significantly in this area. i thought he was very average yesterday.
  15. i watched that incident closely, and it was one of many average jeff white efforts for the afternoon but i didn't see rivers say a word.
  16. exactly. imagine what he thought when he was running out there without key teamates due to injury.
  17. i'm afraid he did.
  18. i find it really hard to be critical of a 20 year old who is our hardest midfielder, and (regardless of what the stats say) best clearance player. he's still learning, he will get more composed, but i still loved his work today.
  19. i remember seeing Scarlett early days thinking "this guy is no good at all", he was getting killed, he looked skinny and hopeless against his forward opponents. i think i may have got that wrong Leo Barry....how many years was he running around like a chook with it's head cut off? how good was Leppitsch early days? It's way too early to write off a key position player imo. 4 years minimum.
  20. oh i didn't forget him.
  21. 2 robbie, stinga, jones........
  22. yep. the upside is at least virtually all of them have recovered from injury and can now build fitness.
  23. as the jake niall article points out, a huge chunk of our side had compromised pre-season's hence the fitness level. i take my hat off to jake, at least someone who is half interested in the problem rather than the typical fluff, taking pot shots at an easy target such as Robinson, sheahan, Anderson, Grant, Ralph, Bartlett, Smith........A grade wankers all of them.
  24. Brad Miller used to be a half decent footballer when he had aggression. the best thing he could do as a leader right now would be to come off the square this week at the start of the game, grab the pill, tuck the shoulder in and hurt someone fairly. my guess is geelong will be inside 50 by the time he's taken one step inside the square.
