  1. Absolutely stoked with this. Welcome aboard.
  2. Said this last week when W_J posted an almost identical thread. Ben Holland also spent a season on the Fitzroy senior list.
  3. I don't think the conspiracy theory here has been given anywhere near as much of a run as it deserves. First, W_J wins the Demonland tipping, then Tim_ comes up trumps in the 'ology tipping. Coincidence? Definitely something fishy going on here...
  4. D'land, think it's worth making this a thread for all clubs' comings and goings, rather than just MFC?
  5. I plead "typo"!
  6. Thanks for the info Zebraman. For the record, Weetra's contracted next year, so you should get used to seeing him in the black and gold again next year.
  7. Rivers is more promising than any of them.
  8. The posts (regarding McLean) have been deleted.
  9. Guys, I/we don't mind if threads naturally drift off topic (it's the natural way conversations flow), but can you please try to avoid changing the topic completely to something completely unrelated in the middle of a thread. Ta.
  10. I'm perplexed as to how anyone could not have TJ in their votes! Flat track bully or not I can't see how anyone could suggest he wasn't amongst our best last night.
  11. Ferguson makes me sad. He is a man trapped in a boy's body, and at the age of 26 and after 4 seasons on a senior list, he's shown that that situation is probably never going to change. He would've made a top class defender if it wasn't for that IMO. Should be gone now.
  12. I'm feeling the whole gamut of emotions at the moment, many of them conflicting. A small part of me is glad we could get a win for the retiring boys who deserved to feel the winning feeling one last time. Especially Browny. A small part of me is annoyed that we won. That part of me feels very dirty. A small part of me is annoyed we didn't beat them by 150 points. A small part of me is angry at the competition and its drafting rules for robbing me of the "winning" feeling today. It felt hollow. A small part of me is missing the footy already. The overwhelming majority of me is just glad this nightmare season is over and is counting down the days til round 1, 2008.
  13. Dunn gave away way too many free kicks yesterday. He's obviously still getting used to the "wear him like a glove" aspect as it's pretty new to him. If he can play tight without being all over the bloke then he has a big future.
  14. That's pretty much what I was thinking too graz. It's a game of Chinese whispers. I certainly don't think anyone here has lied or made anything up; more likely somebody along the lines got their wires crossed, and it could've been anyone in the line.
  15. Actually, Ben Holland was on their senior list for one season, 1993 I believe, though he never set foot inside the club. Is that a more legitimate claim than Ward's supplementary listing? Either way, Johnson is the last playing Lion so the tag is fair enough.
  16. He's actually contracted for next year I believe. I think he'll stay. The rumours out there suggest he has already agreed to, but I don't know how much weight to put in that. IMO there is plenty of benefit to keeping at least one of the previous coach's assistants on so there are faces around that have plenty of player and club knowledge to share. I like Riley and I hope he stays.
  17. I find it difficult to believe that he already has names on the chopping block when he hasn't set foot inside the club yet. Seems a little "take action now, consider the facts later", so I hope this isn't the case. That said, I don't object to the principle of trading Travis so long as the compensation is adequate.
  18. You left yourself wide open bud. It's not against the forum rules to "mock" someone (personal abuse is another matter), and if you come in to the site with all guns blazing claiming to know everything that is going on -- when quite obviously you didn't -- then I'm afraid you're going to cop quite a lot of egg on the face. It's how it works in the real world and it's how it works here.
  19. Interesting logic. I don't think Sheedy would have coached for fifty years.
  20. Wants to be first ruck? Thinks he can play all over the ground, not sit on the bench when he's not rucking? Sounds familiar. Hope he enjoys playing out his career at Carlton.
  21. I was waiting for someone to throw that comment in my face All I said was that there was no need for a "bells and whistles" farewell for those players (had Ward and Ferguson in mind more than Bizzell). I still can't see what's so harsh about that. Agree that it is all his own fault. I even said so in my post, if you took the time to read it properly rather than just baiting me about the bits you want to read.
  22. Recruiting Pickett was a risk that could've paid huge dividends, but could also have been a spectacular failure. Turns out in this case it was the latter. I'm disappointed with the way it turned out, and the blame lays squarely on one man. I don't agree with the "don't let the door hit you on the way out" mentality of Rhino et al but I also don't think he really deserves any thanks for his "service".
  23. 90% certain that is not correct.
  24. I'm in the "let's win" camp because I just don't think we can out-tank Carlton. They've got a #1 pick at stake, we haven't got that sort of incentive. Might as well belt them by 100 points and give Brown and Bizzell a good sendoff.
