  1. Let's not get too excited with the thanks yet - something very not good just happened with the new server as you may have all noticed. I seem to have it working again now, will have to do a thorough investigations tonight though.
  2. I'm at work and on the temporary link also. This is just the nature of making name server changes unfortunately. FWIW the "temporary" link is just an alias for the same site; think of it as a back road in to the same town. Everything should work exactly as it normally does and you're seeing the same data etc.
  3. Great to see everyone made it. It look a very short amount of time - less than an hour last night for me to see the new site. At work today I saw the old one all day, so was hopeful that not too many were in the same boat, but judging by the "users online" thing, plenty were. Sorry about that, team. I'm in for an early night tonight, but will be about fine tuning things tomorrow night, including fixing the broken bits and bobs, setting Demonland up his FTP account and answering all the people who have messaged me. Cheers
  4. Well, if you're reading this, it means we made it through to the other side. Yay. Give me a like so I can see you're alive! Not sure how this host is going to go as it's a method of hosting we haven't tried before. The acid test will come on the weekend when we get smashed by Freo by 10 goals; let's see how the server copes.
  5. To be honest I've hopped off the Col Sylvia roller coaster. When he's on I know his next disappointing performance is around the corner and he's off I know he'll blow the roof off with a magic performance again soon. Riding those emotions every time was making me nauseous.
  6. Based on the Casey thread, I'd expect: In: Green, Couch, Gysberts Out: Bail, Bennell, Magner Maldonboy's description of Cook had me pretty excited, but I'm in no hurry there so I'd be happy to sit on that one for another week. Don't even bother trying to twist my arm there, it'll be the easiest arm twist of all time. Gysberts is the stark opposite; he needs games in the seniors yesterday; if he's ready get him in. Green and Couch's games sound as if they were too high a standard to ignore. Jamar can swap with Spencer if he's fit.
  7. Hi everyone, Pleased be advised that there will be a complete outage of the site on the evening of Monday, 9th of July (I'm targetting around 8pm AEST). This is due to an issue with the current hosting and the need to move off it on short (ish) notice. This is a fairly major operation (think: moving your entire house and needing to assemble everything back the way it was at the other end!), and it may take some time before users can "see" the site online again. I don't expect the site to be offline for any more than an hour or two, though it may appear offline for longer to people individually as some of the changes being made take time to "filter" through the internet. If you have any questions, please contact me. Cheers
  8. Thanks Maldonboy; great run down. These types of posts are why I read the Casey threads. It certainly isn't to hear a few posters spew as much bile as possible over one player.
  9. I respect everyone's right to make stupid threads, but...
  10. When he first joined the club he was quoted as saying that he chose football over basketball (having played both as a youth) in the end because he likes hurting people. I started salivating when I heard that. 4 or 5 or however many years in he probably doesn't really offer much else other than that; but really if there was one attribute you'd like your developing young ruckman to have, a partiality for hard body contact is probably it. Let's hope a bit of co-ordination comes late to the party.
  11. My memory was more of him already being on the scene after winning a 1 on 1 against I.Maric rather than chasing him down per se. That was why it was so pleasing, because it was a second effort thing after a big first effort.
  12. It's not pathetic at all, if anything Jaded has it the right way around more than anything I reckon. There's absolutely nothing to be gained by hanging crap on the less talented players. It's why largely couldn't care less when guys like Bennell or Spencer or even Dunn have poor games, because I know that these guys have low ceilings and they're probably doing the best they can. It's when the top end talent fails to deliver that is the hardest to swallow; it's their form that affects us the most. Spencer and co are just easy targets for people who don't want to look for the real problems.

    You're learning ;-)
  14. Terrible, terrible post. 100 games is an excellent achievement and deserves to be celebrated, regardless of what you or we think of the player. If you really can't bring yourself to say something nice, then recognise that this is a completely inappropriate thread for potting the player and just say nothing.
  15. We had a high number of players coming out of contract this year, perhaps giving a few players 3 is a strategy to stop the same thing from happening in 2 years time.
  16. Good boy Jake. That made my hair stand on end. Yeah, turning it off lasted about a minute, but it made me feel better!
  17. I'm going to trial a new method of frustration management: turning the TV off and spending time with my family instead. Never done it before so it'll be interesting.
  18. Every now and again someone will bump an ancient thread like this one and it'll remind me of posters who used to be around a bit then just disappeared. Wonder what happened to demonfanjezza? Or Adzman - he was one of the originals that came across from the old site back in 2005 (used to be "Wrathchildlover")? I know deanox is around, just doesn't post anywhere near as much these days. Not sure how anyone can ever shed their addiction for this site TBH.
  19. If he goes to GWS or GC then he is lost to the MFC for good. The idea of a homecoming after 2 years is a ridiculous pipe dream.
  20. Not leaving, scurrying. Ratts scurrying from the sinking ship.
  21. Putting the time in doesn't guarantee success - you keep putting time in to Williams if you think he'll make it and that would be independent of any decision around Lynch.
  22. I agree. When we've been rubbish for the last however long I think the last thing we should be doing is being too insular.
  23. Brereton calling Petterd "ultra-talented" just shows how full of hyperbole he is.
  24. Good guess, but no. Only one of our three nominated rookies was to cover an LTI, the others are for the other rules under which rookies can be elevated. Jetta coming back has nothing to do with it. That said, I don't know why he was downgraded. Someone said in another thread that from now on all rookies are eligible to play - I can't find any information about that though. So it could be that, or it could just be that they've got no intention of playing him. Dunno.
  25. Both of them fit in to the "almost was" category I reckon. Btw I heard a story - and I don't know how much truth there is to it - that a big contributor to Grgic's absolute collapse in form was due to the absolute incessant, relentless hounding he received online, at matches and in public. I know footy players are meant to be "tough" but they shouldn't be expected to be completely immune to the human side of things. The way Grgic got treated by so-called supporters in his latter years was shameful, and I don't think the reception Cale Morton gets is much better.
