  1. From that article: He backed GWS's young ruck stocks to take over from veteran Dean Bogan when he retired at the end of the season, although he didn't rule out trying to recruit an established replacement as well. Dean Bogan indeed.
  2. Nick Walsh? That's the first thing I thought, too. As a North fan I'd have been very pleased to see Swallow put Judd on his arse.
  3. Evans showed us that he is quick and can get the ball, both very useful tricks at as a footballer. Whether he makes it or not is anyone's guess and of course he may not, but I don't think anyone's really getting "worked up"; we (or at least, I) am pleased to see him back because we're a lot more likely to find out if he's got anything to give if he actually gets a few games under his belt.
  4. Cue the whinging about how rubbish the VFL alignment system is and how we must have our own VFL team etc.
  5. When will it stop? It'll stop when one of these first rounders finally turns in to a star, or isn't perpetually injured, or doesn't have some severe limitation, or isn't just plain old "sheet" at top level footy. In the eyes of many on this forum there's no reason to believe that this round of talent we're bringing in will be any less limited than the last or the last before that going all the way back to taking Travis in 98, but in my eyes there's equally no reason to believe it will pan out the same way. In fact I'd go one step further and say this next batch has to be top class - because believing anything else is believing that we're doomed to fail. The day that becomes my way of thinking is the day I give up watching altogether.
  6. Surprised that Petterd was included, but I'm hopeful he can show something and resurrect his career. He's on the rocks at present.
  7. Let's not get too excited with the thanks yet - something very not good just happened with the new server as you may have all noticed. I seem to have it working again now, will have to do a thorough investigations tonight though.
  8. I'm at work and on the temporary link also. This is just the nature of making name server changes unfortunately. FWIW the "temporary" link is just an alias for the same site; think of it as a back road in to the same town. Everything should work exactly as it normally does and you're seeing the same data etc.
  9. Great to see everyone made it. It look a very short amount of time - less than an hour last night for me to see the new site. At work today I saw the old one all day, so was hopeful that not too many were in the same boat, but judging by the "users online" thing, plenty were. Sorry about that, team. I'm in for an early night tonight, but will be about fine tuning things tomorrow night, including fixing the broken bits and bobs, setting Demonland up his FTP account and answering all the people who have messaged me. Cheers
  10. Well, if you're reading this, it means we made it through to the other side. Yay. Give me a like so I can see you're alive! Not sure how this host is going to go as it's a method of hosting we haven't tried before. The acid test will come on the weekend when we get smashed by Freo by 10 goals; let's see how the server copes.
  11. To be honest I've hopped off the Col Sylvia roller coaster. When he's on I know his next disappointing performance is around the corner and he's off I know he'll blow the roof off with a magic performance again soon. Riding those emotions every time was making me nauseous.
  12. Based on the Casey thread, I'd expect: In: Green, Couch, Gysberts Out: Bail, Bennell, Magner Maldonboy's description of Cook had me pretty excited, but I'm in no hurry there so I'd be happy to sit on that one for another week. Don't even bother trying to twist my arm there, it'll be the easiest arm twist of all time. Gysberts is the stark opposite; he needs games in the seniors yesterday; if he's ready get him in. Green and Couch's games sound as if they were too high a standard to ignore. Jamar can swap with Spencer if he's fit.
  13. Hi everyone, Pleased be advised that there will be a complete outage of the site on the evening of Monday, 9th of July (I'm targetting around 8pm AEST). This is due to an issue with the current hosting and the need to move off it on short (ish) notice. This is a fairly major operation (think: moving your entire house and needing to assemble everything back the way it was at the other end!), and it may take some time before users can "see" the site online again. I don't expect the site to be offline for any more than an hour or two, though it may appear offline for longer to people individually as some of the changes being made take time to "filter" through the internet. If you have any questions, please contact me. Cheers
  14. Thanks Maldonboy; great run down. These types of posts are why I read the Casey threads. It certainly isn't to hear a few posters spew as much bile as possible over one player.
  15. I respect everyone's right to make stupid threads, but...
  16. When he first joined the club he was quoted as saying that he chose football over basketball (having played both as a youth) in the end because he likes hurting people. I started salivating when I heard that. 4 or 5 or however many years in he probably doesn't really offer much else other than that; but really if there was one attribute you'd like your developing young ruckman to have, a partiality for hard body contact is probably it. Let's hope a bit of co-ordination comes late to the party.
  17. My memory was more of him already being on the scene after winning a 1 on 1 against I.Maric rather than chasing him down per se. That was why it was so pleasing, because it was a second effort thing after a big first effort.
  18. It's not pathetic at all, if anything Jaded has it the right way around more than anything I reckon. There's absolutely nothing to be gained by hanging crap on the less talented players. It's why largely couldn't care less when guys like Bennell or Spencer or even Dunn have poor games, because I know that these guys have low ceilings and they're probably doing the best they can. It's when the top end talent fails to deliver that is the hardest to swallow; it's their form that affects us the most. Spencer and co are just easy targets for people who don't want to look for the real problems.
  19. Terrible, terrible post. 100 games is an excellent achievement and deserves to be celebrated, regardless of what you or we think of the player. If you really can't bring yourself to say something nice, then recognise that this is a completely inappropriate thread for potting the player and just say nothing.
  20. We had a high number of players coming out of contract this year, perhaps giving a few players 3 is a strategy to stop the same thing from happening in 2 years time.
  21. Good boy Jake. That made my hair stand on end. Yeah, turning it off lasted about a minute, but it made me feel better!
  22. I'm going to trial a new method of frustration management: turning the TV off and spending time with my family instead. Never done it before so it'll be interesting.
