  1. I hardly think a rake forward who isn't ready is something to look forward to.
  2. Out: 3 NQRs In: 2 NQRs and 1 genuine best 18 player (I'll leave it up to the imagination which) Nice to see the changes make the side stronger, even if it is only fractionally.
  3. I didn't take in to consideration that he may only get a short sentence. Probably a pretty major thing to overlook, but never mind.
  4. It's pretty easy bub: if he goes to prison he'll never play again, if he doesn't go to prison he will play again and I see no reason to assume otherwise. We're talking one season here; presumably the trial won't extend beyond a one year contract extension. One year is not too long to wait, especially when we've already got a boot full of players to dump. I'm not sure why you even brought injuries in to it. That applies to all players universally, not just Jurrah. Unless you're making some subtle point beyond my mere mortal's comprehension.
  5. I have no issue with the idea of applying for special dispensation to have him put on the rookie list, in fact I think that would be prudent management, especially if we think he probably won't play much in the next 12 months. But in the post I quoted, you seemed to be implying the options were to apply to have him placed on the rookie list, "or risk him being picked up by another club." The latter won't happen, if we can't have him placed on the rookie list then he will be re-signed as he would've been had this stuff not occurred. And in that case, it's not a choice between one or the other; one is plan A and the other is plan B.
  6. I reckon this is the furthest from the mark rpfc has ever been on any issue in his time on Demonland. I'd be absolutely staggered if Jurrah wasn't supported and re-signed. Staggered.
  7. Redleg, I reckon this is a mistake we make a lot; we get sucked in by a handful of good games and keep (or in this case, recruit) players based on too small a sample size. It's the reason Dunn has been on our list for two years too long; he had a purple patch back in 2010 and got two years. McLean might've been good for the last month, but he did stuff all for the three years before it, including his last season with us. He's also demonstrated with his recent use of Twitter that he hasn't grown up a bit since his exit. I couldn't be less interested I don't think.
  8. The age old quibble about which ordinary player is better than which other ordinary player. As Ben Hur said in another thread: chicken pox or measles? I'll take none thanks.
  9. Putting my extreme ignorance on show here, but what's the difference?
  10. Given that he goes to trial before his contract is up, they've got nothing to achieve by dumping him now and everything to gain by supporting him. What might've happened had his trial been post-October is a moot point now.
  11. The most logical thing to do is have all non-Victorian teams field a side in their local competitions - like Sydney, GC, GWS and Brisbane do now. It would mean a Freo and a West Coast side in the WAFL and an Adelaide and Power (there'd be issues calling them "Port!") team in the SANFL. For Victoria, have a stand-alone competition; 10 teams is more than enough to run a viable competition (and it's an even number - no byes!). This solves all the problems addressed, and in my 30 seconds of thinking of this I can't think of any new ones it creates other than costs.
  12. This is an interesting idea that deserved to be fleshed out somewhere else other than in this abomination of a thread. This thread is a little bit embarrassing.
  13. You can't take a player without knowing whether his body is up to it, especially when the club he was at had significant question marks over it. We could've taken him but it would've been a huge gamble, it wasn't a gamble for Collingwood because he underwent a medical for them. You reckon not taking him was weak, I reckon taking him would have been negligent.
  14. If he's not good enough then he can and will stay at Casey. I don't think we'll learn anything new by promoting him. You said forwards depend on what the midfield in front of them deliver, so isn't he going to be able to demonstrate more at Casey where the midfield is competent rather than trying to work with our horrid midfield?
  15. 6 players there who are starting 18 including our best player, 3 from the fringe and 5 who probably wouldn't have played anyway. Not that you ever want 14 players on your injury list, but given that you'd prefer it wasn't so heavily weighted towards our best side. Just another problem we really don't need.
  16. Can they wait until his footy career is finished?
  17. This side splittingly hilarious gag just never stops being funny. Congratulations though jnrmac, you've won the prize for being the 1000th person to post this in the history of Demonland.
  18. It wasn't as bad as Joel Macdonald's game who is a similar player and is lower down the pecking order.
  19. I've lost track of who's injured, who's available and who's where. Getting too hard now to pick the ins and outs now. I know Garland won't be dropped because of one poor (shocking) decision though.
  20. It doesn't help with the imagery at all! It's just a commentator with a sense of humour. I liked it.
  21. Well done Brad, richly deserved. I feel almost personally sorry that you've spent the last 5 years getting familiar with the bottom of the ladder, just shows how unfair the footy world can be. Perhaps I've listened to WYL tell me it's my fault we suck one too many times Great that he gets to play it on form too - it looked for a while that we'd have to gift it to him. He's played well for the last couple.
  22. This way --> http://demonland.com...oke-and-dagger/
  23. tsk, who let you back in? Something screwy going on with the ban function on this forum.
  24. Drop this line of questioning. Deleting your posts is getting tedious.
  25. Stuie et al, you'll find the club are well aware of what gets written on this site and some of its staff read regularly. Other the at the MCG on a weekend, there's no other place where more fans of the MFC make their thoughts known, and certainly nowhere where it's as public, so indirectly there's a lot of value to the club in sites like this. I doubt the coaches or the players read (if I were a player I'd stay the hell away - imagine if Cale Morton read the threads about him?) and I agree that coaches stealing ideas from here is far fetched, but nonetheless the club is aware of us, so people should bear that in mind when they post.
